Too Tired

It's not often that I say I am too tired to blog and do photos but I am.

I can't stop from yawning. I feel a knot or two coming in on Spice but no grooming, no photos - nada.

It's one of those days that I am totally spent.

I need to play recovery.

So until tomorrow, here is Scruffy all cleaned up after the picnic and Sophie who is heading back home to Ct after her trip to the Canada shores. Sophie looks like I feel and I wish I could be doing!

What a beautiful shot of Scruffy --- STUNNING!!

I am happy to hear the picnic was a success and the photos sure show how much fun was had by all ... :)

I think you're right Lori. Scruffy is a prince . . . Prince Charming! :-)

Sophie really is a doll! The new Treasure puppies just may look like her - similar colouring!

Debi: each litter is a surprise. You never duplicate a litter - always something new even if the same exact sire each time. Many similarities but colours are up for grabs unless you are doing a strong colour in ones line with another strong colour in another line as an example all black and whites in a sire's line and the dams line. Look at Fiona 8 generations back a chocolate and she gets 3. It's what fun about the havanese and frustrating if colour is important. Colour isn't important to me. I was simply impressed that Andy held a lot of his colour. Treasure did too so that makes sense. Treasure has thrown a cream like Sophie (1), tri, red, apricot. Wasabi threw all black and whites with the exception of one each litter. Spice is a Kat and Wasabi gal - almost 2 now. She will be bred on her next heat to Truffie who is a year and a half. Boys are and can be bred earlier than gals as gals you have to pay attention to their emotional maturity or you are not being fair. They have much more of an investment than the males. Boys when not mature simply won't breed and act silly stupid. You need to LISTEN when that happens. Some breeders will collect and use it that way but I say if they are unable to naturally yet then wait.

I have no idea what I will get from a Truffie and Spice breeding. Spice has sables in her backgrounds and the strong silvering gene and Truffie has everything from sables, to apricots to chocolates in his. Genes are interesting. You never know what combo you will get.

Abigail was bred once by Truffie. Not exactly an accident. It was more of wondering why she wanted Kat far and away from her. We put them in the same room not expecting a thing (thought she was done and it was a test to go out to the main population) and in 2 seconds and I mean 2 seconds they were connected. I said okay so seeing she connected once lets breed her again to him and no interest in any way shape or form from either. So, I didn't expect a pregnancy. I refuse to do an ultrasound and it is what it is. Personally if we have a pregnancy great - if we don't great. Abigail really enjoys the pups and is happiest with pups and its not my imagination. She lights up with the pups. Fiona is the same. Wasabi thinks the pups shoot the moon in a big way. Yes, they get extra special treatment during this time but you are either maternal or you are not and if not, you shouldn't have pups, kids etc. and you know its quite okay to live your life without.

Many breeders who brag that they have reds have apricots as adults. But colour is trendy to some and when it all comes down to it just like us our exterior is just that - it's the personality and who we are that counts and who each of us have to live with. People can lose sight of that till they are living with that dog or hubby or and then they get it. :-)

Darlah - I posted w/ "morning brain" today. When I said Treasure pups I had Fiona's 2 pups on my mind and of course I do realize that Sophie is a Treasure pup. Was simply a tad confused. :-) Had my 2nd coffee now. LOL

It was interesting hearing about all the pairings, the history in those lines, etc. It will be interesting to see what happens w/ Ms. Abs.

Yes, I did notice Andy's colouring in Steven's pics is relatively the same. I know he's a sable, but he reminds me a lot of Laci. His face has lightened a bit (I think) and so has hers . . . or it could be that as they grow, along w/ their hair, it broadens the colours to give a different appearance. Do you know what I mean?

Hi there:
You guys don't know me but I have been reading the blog for months now. I am Scruffy's Auntie (aka Lori's sister-in-law). I have been following along since Scruffy came inito our lives. The pictures, the blog, the community ... all of it, is wonderful. I always want to make a comment but feel it's not my place. BUT, this latest picture of Scruffy cannot go by without my two-cents. He is soooo beautiful and such a pleasure. We all absolutely adore him :) Okay ... I feel better now ... carry on :)

Pat - My daughters like to tune in and see what's going on as well, so you're not alone. Welcome! It appears that Lori not only has an adorable puppy, but an adoring sister-in-law. :-) She's a lucky lady!!!

Pat, I love you, you are a wonderful Auntie Patsy to Scruffs! I'm glad you came out of hiding :)
For all of you who read regularly and know how much Scruffs means to me and Roger and our family, you have to know that Pat is the one who really made it all possible. She was our greatest supporter and researched with us and came to the visits to help guide us though the process that we had no idea about. And she is a fantastic momma herself to Daisy, her miniature schnauzer, and my nephew Daniel, which I'm sure you've seen photos of as well in the magazine. She is a true "dog person" and has been a great role model for us. Sorry if I'm embarrassing you, Pat, but I can't help myself :)))
Angie, Debi, thanks. I had to share that photo with Darlah because he was so cooperative and really did look his most Scruffalicious self! Plus I was so proud of his ponytail. LOL!

It's nice to hear about your lovely family Lori! You're very fortunate.

That is a great ponytail - even the colour placement is perfect! :-)

Pat: Everyone is welcomed to participate. Glad you are no longer a lurker. You can no longer simply be silent! <smile>

Lori - you are such beautiful person inside and out, thank you for being so sweet. Love you.

Debi - Lori is very lucky, she has many people that adore her :)

Darlah - I almost choked on my water when I read your "lurker" comment ... It was perfect. Absolutely hilarious :). Thank you for the welcome.
