Time To Go In?

We have spent a fair bit of time outside - well some dogs have - some have vegged with Nathan and the TV and went out the odd time. Socks heads out tomorrow and Coco and Doozie next. Nathan is now doing a comb out and I am finishing. I am still finding knots but he's doing rather well. I am just not sure it floats his boat so to speak but he's been very helpful.

We have class with Dusty this week and Nathan has yet to get her on a lead. He asked me why I am not. I laughed. I said you do the grooming and I will lead train. That's where that conversation went. We will see how class goes. He does run around with the dogs, plays, walks them and is the wild and crazy guy. But its time to do Dusty work. :-) It has been busy - but....

He may be lead training the first night. hahahaha Me, I will be clicking - the camera that is.

Took a photo of Tangles with her brother Finn.

They loved playing with each other and it was wonderful to watch.

Coco and Doozie are creatures of wamth. They go outside and run not walk to the tv room to cuddle in the blankets and we always have a bunch especially when its wet outside. Besides they adore hanging out with Nathan. They adore snuggling.

Socks and Zoe were outside getting everyone running after them.

Dusty was running right along with them but not quite fast enough yet.

It's been a fun day!

Kathy: Dusty was trying to catch up as hard as she could. It was a riot.

Finn and Tangles is Truffie and Abigail. It will be interesting to see if they brown out. Dusty is Treasure and Truffie.

If it makes you feel better Darlah, we haven't put Pepper on a lead yet. Said we would yesterday and didn't. She is so tiny that her collar is still lose. We will add an extra hole for now but she will grow into it. Funny how much smaller her neck is compared to what Scruffy's was at that age. Who knew?

If it makes you feel better Darlah and Lori,we've only had Lilly on a lead once or twice and she did her "bucking bronco" imitation. Then she just plants her feet and that's it! She does NOT like the lead at all. Should be an interesting first class! LOL

Well that is what Dusty did today - bucking bronco - and it was some sight to behold. Nathan knows better. But life got in the way and that sort of happens. If we all could get everything we want done in our waking hours.

Is this with a harness or just a leash on the collar?

February 26, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTania

Oh, now I understand the bucking bronco comment! My goodness, how does something so small fight so hard?!!!! We are spoiled because we put Scruffy in a collar and used his leash almost right away and he never complained about it.
She seems ok with the collar unless she notices the end and then she tries to chew it. But I can't keep it on to get her used to it because otherwise Scruffy chews it.
Wednesday's class will not be easy, that's for sure. LOL.

Chewing is a dominant thing. They are trying to control their universe. I may try with Dusty today but the key is to have Roger or you - whomever is going to be on lead stay on her. The other person stand in front with a treat so she gets walking forward is a GOOD thing - wave the treat - or put it to her nose and the person not on lead moves back so she comes towards them. Then when she gets that, you use the treat. Each time she heals stop, treat tiny bit - move forward treat again and keep it going.

Once they get used to it they will be fine and will also learn fast.

Class is either going to get canceled due to the snowstorm (we have the vets that day too so oh boy) or look at it as comic relief. If Nathan had started this a week ago we would have had no issues but hey he says I want the others to look better than mine - some excuse! Do you believe him?

Lead and collar - only - dominant or want to be dominant dogs try the bucking bronco thing out for size but truly they get used to it.
