Oh What a Day
Well so much for a day off. Did 4 baths today and one was Kat. Kat got mighty dirty jumping in the pool and rolling in the dirt doing a shimmy. Got to love it.
Early this morning Rusty came. This afternoon Winston arrived and tonight Daisy came. Cali departed.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Nathan is at a dog show. I so wish I could go to see the Spice pup in the ring. Oh well. Nathan can't take photos as he is ring stewarding. So, it's me and the dogs till Dennis gets up. Blogs on those days may be late. That's an ahead of time warning.
Rusty's mom brought us bagels. Yum! Thank you!
Nathan's dad and his wife came over for a visit. He has cancer. He's off and on doing chemo and it is inoperable. His skin is paper thin. One of the dogs climbed up on him and tore his skin. It wasn't a scratch. It was his paper thin skin that bleeds with any friction. He also is cold even when it is very hot. He enjoyed seeing the dogs. We enjoyed seeing them.
Stone and River fell in the pool cutting the corner too quick. Nathan washed Inula.
Dogs have had a blast today. Miss Mia, as I type is laying ion Nathan while he lays in a jacket and a blanket in the gravity chair out back.

Who was that cutie Nathan was holding up ?
It is scary how fragile and thin the skin is on older people especially after all the various meds and chemo. It bruises easily and separates like tissue paper.
That is Emmy's littlest gal.
Yeah... I was surprised at how he bruises and the skin comes right off. It doesn't take much. Still, he was happy to see the dogs.
Thanks Darlah for the gallery. We found Rusty. We all are missing him but know he is having a blast. Sorry to hear about Nathan's father. I am sure the dogs made him feel so much better. Very therapeutic.
Terrific gallery Darlah. You certainly had a full day!!
Sorry to hear about Nathan's dad but I'm glad he was well enough
To share the day with all of you.
What a great gallery. Nice photos of Inula. Nathan's dad actually looks good, it must have been nice for him to visit. When we are surrounded by dogs, we always feel better so I'm sure that he enjoyed all the doggies, wet and dry :-)
You know they gave him 4 months. It is now over a year. He's doing well but I see a difference this trip. Nathan says do I need to worry. Nathan doesn't deal with these things so well. I said no.
I think it's the mix of chemo, old age and cancer. But here is hoping we have another year and fool the doctors completely. Why chemo when they can't remove it? It has shrunk it. Not enough but enough to keep him going through his bucket list. He still has his sense of humor. He is taking trips (his fave on cruises). He visits us when he visits Nathan's brother in Oakville.
I lost my father to cancer due to his non filter 2 pack a day camel smoking habit when I was 17. My mother doesn't know me as she is deeply entrenched in Alzheimers. It's life. It just tells me you need to create moments.
Don't say anything to Nathan. He truly does not do well with my sharing or potential loss. Neither do I but someone has to deal.
Darlah, I just read this. I am sorry for Nathan and his Dad and for your loss of your parents, one physically, one mentally. Life can be cruel but you are right, we need to create good moments in our lives when we can. Having Havanese is so enjoyable for Ed and me. They are such wonderful beings in our lives. I lost my only sibling to smoking - she was 59. And, both my parents are gone now, one to cancer, one to Parkinson's. Hugging the dogs brings much happiness. Patches is so therapeutic for me, what a therapy dog she is. When I wake up at night and can't get back to sleep she comes right up close to me, lies on her back and I rub her tummy and listen to her breathing. In no time, I am asleep, ahhh, Patches. I expect Radar will be the same the older he gets. I hope Rusty is still there so Patches can visit with him and I hope Radar is playing his little heart out.
Nice to see Nathan's Dad enjoying the dogs and they seem to like him as well. He is really looking very good after all he has gone through ! Sounds like he is staying very active which is wonderful ! The Dr's don't know everything.
You know, I was just reading something about an old saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift. That is true for all of us so let's enjoy today with our beautiful Havanese. We love them all so much!
Bravo Anne, so right you are. I think many of us could be aided by remembering this saying daily, me included.
