Comedy of Errors

Very short blog today.

Here is the gallery.

So, the sink didn't fit. A cabinet unit wouldn't fit. Ended up with a tub with legs - butt a%% ugly. Nathan picked it out and as he said - I don't want to talk about it. So, okay I can live with ugly but I lost my laundry storage. Under the rotten cabinet - so it did have to go, they never put tiles so I have dirty cement. Plus behind the sink now I have an unpainted splash of yuck as a wall. So how do you match up the floor to 30 yeaar old tile? Can't really. Can put a backslash behind the tub but more money. It needs protection. Got to do something with that floor and all that detergent. Am I having fun, not but neither is Nathan. Oh and the hose on the tap, well it doesn't pull out far enough nor does it go back easily. I tried to get him to get the sink at the restaurant supply place but no.... But I will shut my mouth as he is mega stressed. Me too. I use this stuff and if its not functional and looks ugly...

It is what it is....

So now I save my tips and maybe in a year I will get a ridalco built with a cabinet.

The dogs are putting up with the noise. I can't groom.

I want to cry. I suppose Nathan does too. So we wont talk to him about it. I talked enough, I suppose.

The dogs will be glad when it calms down. Me too and will I be able to groom tomorrow? Maybe this is a sign. A sign of what... I am not sure.

Time to hug the dogs and hope the replacement wired led lights for outdoors has all its parts.

Sorry for venting but look at Missy playing with Stormy. Stormy is thrilled to have a puppy that plays with her. Nathan said, I am really falling for Corey. Of course he is. He sees Nathan and he gets so excited. Everyone loves a puppy that does that!

Think positive thoughts, it's a functioning sink. All the rest is just cosmetic, albeit annoying.
On the bright side, doggies can all go out to enjoy the weather, it is getting more lovely each day. You can see in their faces how they love being outdoors. ( ok, it's raining again, but that too shall pass)

I agree with Dorothy, hopefully there is a brighter light somewhere. Ridalco sinks are great, we had one in Huntsville and miss it. Great gallery, the dogs are clearly enjoying this new season 🐶😘

It's too low so I must bend over too. So, I am so trying... but I do this for a living. It's not like I do one dog and I am done. This is going to affect how much I can do. I placed a dog in it tonight just to check and although much wider - bonus - but use more water... I had to bend over where my back was not happy The faucet must be held and pushed in to get a spray. So much does not work in a way to make things easier. Everything is just more difficult. So, I am not just being a biach. My job just became more difficult and harder on my body. Plus it looks ridiculous.

Just not a good day when everything fails to work. Can the sink that you have be boosted up with a base so that you are not straining your back ? A base for the 4 legged sink would also cover up the unfinished portion of the floor. Just an idea.

I feel for you Darlah. The sink should make your job easier not harder.

Kathy:

There is no cabinet to fit this sink. It is plastic with plastic legs. It's really not fun. I will have to take a photo so then you will see. So, I spent all night putting my storage up on top of the cabinets that are too high to get to. How likely will I climb to get the items? My laundry items are in a rubbermaid box under the sink. Each time I do laundry which is about 4 or 5 times a day despite no pups but hey we have rain, I must open the box, take my detergent out then put it back then put the cover back on. To raise the sink, which sorely needs to be done, the feet would have to be raised - not sure how and the plumbing redone. I feel like I am in university with makeshift what have yous. I am not even sure I can adjust to this setup. But adjust I must. I just think I am going to groom less. I get terrible back aches from leaning over. I do not have room for a stool in there but I may have to figure out one that has an adjustable level that I can play with and remove it each time I finish bathing.

Darlah although I agree it would be great to think positive I would be at least as distraught as you are. What about second hand. Anything like that being sold on Kijiji. People are always renovating Nd trying to sell their old stuff cheap. May be worth a try. It is a business and hard to do if your body gives out. What size sink are you looking for. And I know what you mean about the tap not coming out enough. Darlah this is your blog and we are friends. It is a place you can vent safely. I also think you said Nathan doesn't read the blogs. So go ahead!!

Can you get ‘decorative’ patio flags, if yes, would a large one fit under the sink?
Here they are about an inch plus in thickness so would give you a little more height, some look very nice and are reasonable in price.
I had a booster bath once and had to use flags to raise it more as the extra height legs I got to go with it didn’t work so well.
Hope you can find a solution quickly.

Su: I need 5 to 6 inches higher. The tub is screwed in at the moment. Not sure how hard it is to unscrew it and what it will do to the tile it is screwed into. I have mail into Ridalco. I was told they build 6-8 weeks. I have 3/4 of the cost saved up from tips of their unit with a cabinet but I am going to ask my kids for mothers day to pitch in the rest. We shall see. Nathan likes this size but just higher with a cabinet. I think that will be pricey. We will see what Ridalco comes back with. I have a 40 width on this tub but a 36 width would be nice. 30" is not so much and that is standard with what they have. Here is the sink I have now. As you can see the sink used to be the height of the washer and dryer. You can also see the messed up tiles and missing tiles and the wall that is ripped but could get painted behind. But you need a splash guard so either tiles or wait till a new sink.

I still believe that a handyman could build a base for this sink and the legs could be screwed into the wooden base. Yes the plumbing would require a minor adjustment in height. A plexiglass piece could be screwed to the wall to protect the drywall. Of course there are other quick materials that could be used to protect the area behind the sink. That does not solve the problem of your missing cupboard. I feel your pain.

Goodness your new sink is low, I wonder why they make them with such short legs.
My sink is tiny, I’d love space in the utility room to put one your size in but it would have to be raised. It looks great for Havie washing.
It’s my lower back that feels it when I bend for long periods of time, I empathise with you on back pain.
Kathy’s idea of plexiglass for the splash back is a good one, I like it a lot.

If you do get a Ridalco, you will not be disappointed. Expensive but will last forever. Just make sure the measurements are done right. Ours in Huntsville took 6-8 weeks to build also.

You can't continue with that height for your back or you will end up in serious difficulty and won't be doing anything. In the interim, can you boost the dogs up higher so you don't have to bend so far. Maybe a long dishpan type tray that you could sit on some blocks or something ??
I do that when I bath my cat since cats get freaked out if you put them down in a laundry tub. Smaller tub, I know, but I bath her in a dishpan and then put a second dishpan upside down underneath to use as a booster. You would need something larger but its the same principle.

Yes, I have a request for a quote. They don't make the sink we need so it would have to be built. Found a restaurant supplier that had dog sinks on hwy 7. I still need a cabinet. He wanted to charge an extra grand to build a cabinet. But he did have some built with legs.

Maureen: Interesting - will have to explore.

With your concern regarding your back, do check that the height to bottom of sink (where dog will be) is a workable height for you. I think they are 21in ground to bottom of sink then 12in deep for tub, that's 33in to the front edge. Unless you asked for a different height and depth. Do get a drawing of the requested new sink so you can measure if fine for you.
Don't know if you saw the Ridalco in person to judge, I'm short and it was ok for me.
Ridalco does have specific dog washing stations, more expensive and no cabinets.

Dorothy, I need a 14 inch sink in depth and 36" in height. Lots of places have the dog sinks without cabinets including the restaurant supply place I went today on hwy 7. If I am going to spend that money, I am going to have a cabinet. Ridalco never got back to me. I guess I should have called. Now they are closed for the weekend. I did get to see Anne's so I know they are built well. I am 5'4. It actually depends on if your body or legs are long. Nathan's legs are short. Mine are long. But we are both about the same height.
