The Ugly Beauties

This was a day of off and on rain. I decided why not wait till tomorrow to comb out. So, they look mighty interesting.

Here is the gallery.

We are out of treats. Tried to connect with my local Globals - no answer - no returned email. Will try again on Monday as then we will need food.

The clothes we hung in the house 2 days ago when the dryer broke is still damp. I may have to go to a laundrymat. Not sure how that will work. I did use the dog dryers on them but still not dry. Maybe the washer is not working up to par. I stayed in pjs all day. Still went out with the dogs. No one is coming so I suppose I can get away with it and will save hanging clothes.

The dogs are not happy about the rain. They say thunderstorms tomorrow. That also means warmth if that happens. It just includes mud and wet stuff.

I haven't turned the tv on at all today. It's nice and quiet. the dogs are chilling and looking at us sideways if we open the back door to take them out. Really mom?

It is so nice to stay in pajamas whole day sometimes. It is creepily quiet in our neighborhood as well. We can usually hear DVP late at night, but these days not at all.
Tchibo absolutely hates rain, is it a havanese thing or a Tchibo thing? I ordered some treats today from Biopaw, they promise them by April 1 - I am a little skeptical..We shall see when they arrive :)

Our Global stores are open and fully stocked. Next week I will dehydrate more chicken, Cooper & Spicy really enjoy those treats.

Aliya, we pick up from Biopaw as she’s very close to us. Soon I will need Good Digestion, but Karen asked me to wait till I really need it. I hope she doesn’t change her mind. Pet food stores are considered “essential” as they should, but guess since a franchise can do as they please.

My health food store is remaining open, but doors locked. You place phone order using credit card. Call when in front of store and pop the trunk and they load it. Mind you a small independent store. He doesn’t want to go down, so this works. I find if you call (and get them) and suggest this, they might be receptive to this idea. 🤔 I had suggested this to the owner and he said was considering closing next day. Wasn’t sure he was an essential. Yesterday, I got email this is how they would be doing business for undetermined time.

Crazy out there and the news is frightening. I don't know where the day goes and why I am so tired!! I plan on doing so much but can't face it

Rusty hates the rain too. I carried him out this morning and he relieved himself but stayed out only long enough. I put out our pee pad but doesn't interest him so he will hold it in until he needs to go. Funny boy.

Darlah quiet is so peaceful. However it is so scary. I ordered on loblaws Insacart and they delivered with 5 hours. Check it out. I wonder whether uber eats would deliver from Global (haha). I would try. My global on Doncaster was open.

Stay safe everyone and thank you Darlah for keeping your blog going. I want to know how you are and my fellow Talemaker family. Xoxox

I'm so sorry about your dryer issue, you don't need that problem on top of everything else. I hope there is government assistance for you and your business and maybe you could get a new dryer . Home Depot is still open .
Our Global store in Bowmanville is open, but less hours.
Know that all your dog families are sending you hugs and prayers...

Ronnie: It is not at all unusual to be very tired right now, it is the anxiety and uncertainty of it all. Plus you are still in the stages of grief, please be easy on yourself.

I too have lots to do but can’t face it much either. My two also hate the rain. Patches can hold herself til she almost bursts.

Angela, to your point, I also have lots of spring cleaning to do but not up to it now, I do a bit here and there and that’s it. It’s normal, we all suffer from a form of anxiety. Spring cleaning can wait, we must do what feels right for us, each day. All of us, Talemaker families, have one thing in common, our precious dogs. They will get us through this 🙏❤️🥰🐶

I think we all need to be kind to ourselves. Forgive yourself at this time if too much screen time. If in jammies all day. If whatever! Do what feels best. Nourish your soul. Work all day and do nothing the next, if that is what you need. I seem to have a day on and day off routine. Not planned. Just the way I’m coping.

Give yourself a hug and hugs to you all! 🤗

Yes most havanese hate rain. The odd one stands out there and gets soaked. We have both types here. Not sure which is more intelligent. LOL

When I am not combing dogs out - rain again - I am trying to learn. I waffle between Cricut stuff, photography, inkspace, Affinity etc I am learning SOMETHING new each day even if minor. It is a good distraction.

I talked to the city about what I am allowed to do or not. I am allowed boarders as that is deemed necessary - essential especially if someone is ill or is working an essential service. I am allowed to groom a dog if they stay for dog boarding as boarding is essential and grooming is simply an added value. Boarding can be day boarding. if I was a stand alone grooming salon, I would have to be closed. We are quiet.

When I went to Global to get dog food Canada Computers was open, Shoppers, Walmart, Wendys - busy plaza with so much open. Walmarts area was packed. I got dog food and came back home. as I was passing Brunos, 2 cars there only and the rest of the plaza other than the Chinese takeout was closed. passed another plaza and Shoppers was packed, Tim Hortons was around the block, pizza place looked busy.

I try not to appear depressed as the dogs will feed off that energy. So, forcing myself to learn and actually learning gives me a success and that all helps. I need to clean cabinets but that doesn't excite me so that's on the to do list but far down. LOL If I could do one cabinet a week, I would probably feel productive too. May give that a try.

When all the dogs are combed out - that feels good too. Must start on that this morning vs waiting till afternoon.
