Colours

This is Spirit and Tenshi. Interesting that Spirit now has silvering coming into her coat. Spirit is a Leti baby.

Here is today's gallery.

I was busy today trying to figure out zoom. Usually I am technically inclined but we shall see if I figured it out tomorrow and Monday.

Due to these crazy times, we have had people put off getting their pup till later so we are zooming (online conferencing) potential puppy people. It's not the same as upclose and personal - which we enjoy most but hopefully it is enough to let us know if they love the dogs and to see how much we do. I am so excited about these litters. They are going to be great puppies and bonus they are going to swim. Summer pups always allow us to test their swimming abilities in the water. Plus it helps condition them.

Tuesday the pool gets open. It will remain too cold for a bit till we can swim. I am so hoping the dogs and us can get a swim in before pups come but we shall see. In the past we have been in the pool for that odd hot day in April.

I can't believe Jesse and Murphy departs tomorrow. I still need to trim Jesse's bum tonight.

Tenshi was here while mom went to Costco and she asked me if I wanted anything. Thank you!!!! Tenshi played her heart out. We forget that play is so important to the dogs - as it should be.

The dogs did a fair bit of running today. My goal is to have everyone washed and completely done before pups coming. This allows me to focus more on pups and to do less grooming on my own. So much to do before pups. For now just comb-outs and being knot free.

I am hearing from too many about knots.

It's supposed to rain for the next 2 days. That's lousy. I would like to organize the garden to be planted if I can get vegetables and if not, its an excuse to be focused on the dogs and not the garden.

It's day 3 of no tv. Even at night I watch how to videos. The dogs still lay all around me. Nathan still watches a great deal of Korean tv on his ipad off some app. He watched their version of the Good Doctor. He loved it. I am determined to learn.

It may be a gin and tonic night. I haven't had one in ages but why not.

In addition to Zoom if folks have Facebook messenger we’ve had good success doing video conference chats with it. One we had 5 people on.

I’ve been recently using Zoom to video conferencing with my family, I like it a lot. I got the basic free one, so I think it has a limit of 40 mins per session (unless they lengthen it these days) i Have heard that there was some privacy issue with it as in people gets into the meeting without an invitation. But if you set a password for your meeting, then you can grant access to the participants to the meeting, solving the privacy issue. This will be a very interesting time to match puppy and puppy people through online interaction. I would be very interested to know how the process will be like.
Thank you for taking Tenshi in for some play time. I know she is such a social dog, and maintaining physical distancing for her is a tough reality. (She would be in the elevator wanting to say hi to everyone, and I have to remind her physical distancing...)

Treat yourself to a G&T!

For a living I used to do conferencing with famous authors, experts in home, garden, computer support etc. We used to handle 200 plus people at once but it was text based. I have done facebook messenger with family but no pressure with family. If it disconnects - well its family. If you flub up - its family. I am sure after a few of these things I will be comfie. Tomorrow is our first zoom and yes you are limited to 40 minutes so I had to buy the monthly 20 dollar membership so I could have more time. Can you imagine going - it's 39 minutes - too bad - so sad you had questions - oh well. So now I am not limited so rushing was also a stressor and hey it could be 15 minutes and who needed to buy a membership. We will figure it out as we go. I so hope this non contact stuff goes soon. Technology is great but the experience is different for those visiting and for us. But we will make the best of what we have. I am the only breeder that updates daily with videos, photos etc. You get to see when they are born. I look forward to once again sharing that experience with others. Maybe I will zoom with all every now and then. We shall see.

I did a double take. The picture of Tenshi looked like Murphy

I've been involved in lots of zoom meetings over the last couple of weeks and it's pretty intuitive. I'm sure you will be fine ! Yesterday we had a family get together and it's so much better than just talking on the phone.

Hi Darlah,
Looks like the link to the gallery is broken. I’m getting page not found.

Darlah, just watched your grooming video on YouTube. Thank you! Watched a long time ago, but needed to refresh my skills since have always used a groomer every 5 weeks. Laci is in dire need of a full bath. Really only did face, bum, feet and belly when needed.
I only have laundry tub and a regular spray hose. Sprayer almost circumference if a tennis ball, so face will be challenging.
Think I will have Doug hold hair dryer from a distance to try and get the affect of your stand dryer.
Do you think letting her mostly air dry is ok?
Now, if only I had a solution for my hair! 🤪. I’m not willing to spray my roots! Shaving our heads would solve a lot of issues, but have a feeling would regret once this is finally over. 🙏🙋🏼‍♀️

That's such an old video and I do some things different today. I use show sheen VERY sparingly these days. I still line comb. Yes, leaving them to air dry and finishing them up is fine as long as your house is warm. Just brush out and finish the drying at the end. I do this with my pool fun. I always let them air dry them comb out at the end to make sure they do not have any tangles. It's not as smooth as a blow dry but neither is our hair. It truly doesn't matter. When I used to use a hand dryer, I ordered a stand for it and it worked well but only amazon or beauty supply places have them.

I've rewatched Darlah's video a number of times too, I still find new things I missed, ie methods to undo knots, mats, and just holding them, but mine are not so well behaved, but still trying.
I've also use a little plastic cup and a washcloth to wet and clean their faces while they are in my laundry tub for their bath. And lots of kisses.
Never would I have imagined all the stuff I have collected would come in handy. I'm also noting dogs, that should have been groomed way before all this started , are now looking quite bad, the mats I see on doodles are horrible and most times they are quite greasy and stink.
We have a weekly zoom conference scheduled each Sunday for the foreseeable future, 27 people including the newest baby, 3 months old, which I have yet to meet.
I saw there's a dash to get hair dye and clippers, my roots are showing too😂

I knew was old video as recognized Treaure b/f you said her name. 💕. Was going to request another lesson bearing in mind that some of us doing so out of necessity. However, as if you don’t already have enough on your plate!
Even if my groomer was willing, think it’s inadvisable. How long would this virus live on dog hair? Even with my GKids, always had them wash their hands b/f touching Laci, explaining they wash their hands many times/day, hopefully!! Laci is groomed every 5 weeks, so let’s be mindful! 🛀 🐶
New puppy parents - I fell in love with Laci the day she was born. 💕Saw her picture and said, that’s my dog! I amazed myself how I could feel so connected with her just from following her every day. And yes, wonderful that Darlah gives us daily updates. I know that Zoom would work for me! Of all times, this is one that we’re all fortunate to have our wonderful happy furry companions putting smiles on our faces. 😊🐶🐾

We are surprised that people are holding off from getting a puppy during this time of social isolation. To us it would be the ideal time --plenty of time to train the puppy, and increasingly pleasant weather to do it in. And the huge comfort and fun of having a Havanese to snuggle and play with! We don't know what we'd do without Ozzie.

We also use Zoom a lot, to keep in touch with family and friends, and we really like it.

Ellen:
Some people have limited funds. I truly 'get' that! I think I am getting old as I couldn't figure out how to get audio. I should have played with it ahead of time. Nathan did mumble that to me.

Debi:
My daughter-in-law said in Las Vegas people dumped their dogs off at the shelter as they believed this. She said seriously they have no room. This makes me ever so sad. When the press toted that a dog in China had covid on their hair, it went around the world like wildfire but it was soon dispelled. Still the lasting effect remains. The CDC says there is no evidence to suggest that any animals, including pets or livestock, can spread COVID-19 infection to people nor will you get it from your pets. But it always wise to wash your hands no matter what you touch often and not touch your face.

Dorothy:
27 people - now what did I do wrong with no audio? Laughing hard but one should test things ahead of time.

Maureen: Thanks for the vote of confidence but when you are rushed and trying to familiarize yourself with something new on the fly, it sometimes doesn't work.

Sherry: Yes they look similar.
