Way Behind
I am way behind today. We picked up another rescue called Wally today and he is heading to Tracy and Paula's house tomorrow. Our old van is well old and our mechanic for life retired. When checking out our van with a mechanic we didn't know, well they want more than the van is worth. So, we were hunting down a used van as with dogs you need a semi used van. Vans have gone up high in costs and we have a gas line to put under, a new chlorinator, windows, eaves troughs etc and that's only a few things we must get done so used it is and the color we don't want but low in mileage. With used and private sales - well scary to me but this is a friend of Nathan's best friend a few dings and a colour we hate but better than what we have. Never going to find another mechanic like Pat at Autogenics.
Someone asked what we are doing for the holidays. I said dogs. We are skipping the holidays and trying to save up for things we must have done. Praying people don't cancel and more book. Our puppy people bring us great gifts - a bottle of Hendricks, wine, chocolate- nice as they make our days. Last year when everyone cancelled someone bought the dogs treats and had them delivered and there was no note in the box. I asked everyone and no one would fess up to it. I still do not know but wish I did.
Then there are people like Dorothy, Ronnie, Sherry, Pippa that have hearts of gold. Ronnie gave me her comb and I said no at 1st but she insisted. I am ever so thankful as I had a lot of dematting and well, the wrong comb can kill your hand when you do as much as I do.
This long oh my gad story is to say at 8am, Nathan has to drive up to Parry Sound to bring the rescue to Tracy. No snow tomorrow - thankful and we had to rent a car. Since covid all car rental places are closed at noon in Saturday and closed on Sunday forcing you to get a rental from Friday to Monday. Cute and we looked up and called every rental place. Nathan didn't get the car he liked nor the colour but its a rental.
Wally will depart tomorrow. His owner was bawling her eyes out. It is so hard doing rescue. He is a great dog - 7 years old, spry - friendly as ever.
The dogs here all received him well even Teddy. We have amazing dogs and well our visitors are pretty amazing. They could choose to scare the hey out of a newcomer but they choose to surround them with love. It can't be better than that so even if you do - oh how will I do that or how am I going to get through that - look at the dogs - the fun - the warmth. We gain as much from them as they gain from us. That is the silver lining of life.
Look at me going on and on. Lots on my mind but the dogs make everything smile worthy and so do special humans.
Dogs had a ton of fun but it was BITING cold today. Did you notice? They didn't seem to but due to a rescue and then a car rental and grooming that was booked - its 920pm doing blogs. Soon cleanup. LOL

Which one of the photos from today's blog are of Katie?
Darlah. I was in really bad shape when I was admitted to hospital about 10 weeks ago to icu. The Drs and staff have told me how tremendously well I'm doing. I am breathing well, getting stronger and trying really hard to be optimistic. I started physio a couple of weeks ago and trying really hard to get to the side of the bed and working on standing but I can only stand for a few seconds so far.
I'm so discouraged because I want to get out of here, go to rehab and get back to my apt and be with my Katie at last!
I'm hoping I Wil b able to have some sort of life despite dialysis.
Ruth and Katie xoxo
Ruth: Yes, I know you were in rough shape and I am glad you are getting better. I am exceedingly busy now. I have not made it to bed. I was very late on doing the the blogs, I will have to look tomorrow. I will look as I gain some time. I need to get to bed and need to get the dogs outside. usually I am in bed at 10. Not today.
All the photos with the longer cream coloured dog is Katie playing etc. Too many to list. I am going to try to wash her today. Nathan is away delivering Wally to Tracy.
Get well soon, Ruth. ❤️
Wow, Darlah your exceedingly busy schedule has ramped
up even higher.
So happy that you through the Havanese Rescue
are able take in an eventually re-home these
precious dogs.
Kathy: I know when I am blogging and then doing last cleanup, I need to figure out how to not have to blog so late. Teddy is wonderful. Can you imagine the load if he wasn't. Wally the other rescue is now at Tracy's home and looks like he is adjusting. He's in good health but may need a couple of teeth removed. Teddy's teeth are cleaned and shiny. I have been doing rescue for a long time with a momentary lapse. It feels good to get Teddy a new forever home as he truly deserves it. Tracy will do the same in Sudbury with Wally. Maybe they both will have homes for Christmas. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
