Afternoon Delight

Good thing Roxie is not in heat. Benji loves playing with her so and if she was she wouldn't be able to be with the boys. I am hoping Treasure and Spice don't come in till the end of August or September. That would suit me fine.

Benji sleeps up to me all night cuddling up. When we are in the midst of heat Nathan gets the gals, I get the boys. I am lucky that I have the Benji just like I was lucky to have the Cooper as Nathan hogs the visitors. hahahahaha

That's okay, Mia and Tiger Lily come tomorrow so Nathan gets to spoil them and when Tiger Lily leaves Coco and Doozie arrive. It's great timing as everything will be a routine with the pups and we can get some swimming in too. I may even take the pups outside in a whelping box with Fiona. We shall see. That will be a first but as long as the weather is good, it is doable.

We had a storm this morning that didn't last long enough. We didn't get a swim in nor any grooming except for Benji and Fiona. It was break day for me and tomorrow we will be back at it. It's important to have a break.

We did have some wild play and some games and some snuggles. Logan arrived for the day, ate up a storm and his human brother is getting him tonight.

Life is great with Havanese snuggles!

Dirty Scruffy

Hi Nathan and Darlah,

Here's a picture of me from Wednesday.

I LOVE playing in the mud, even though my Poppa tells me not to, but I'm faster than he is  :-) He showed me to Momma and she wasn't very happy with me either!

I tried to look all contrite and super cute, but it didn't work....."into the bath with you!" said Momma.

Oh well, I get treats with bath time and grooming, so that's ok too! Hehehe

Love,

The Scruffster

--------------

It's been a busy day so perfect to share this photo we got today.

Cooper is now with his mom and dad. But he gets to visit us when his human parents move.

It was a very hot day today. We got a cheap BBQ as ours was dead and we cook on it all year round. It took Dennis 6 hours to assemble it or so. We cooked on it today - yeah! We were missing a part and I was told to get it from the manufacturer. They said 6 to 8 weeks whedn I called them. They said go back to the store and get it. So, I did. I am the biach when it comes to stuff lik that. I got the part and a free cover. I also repotted 3 plants - huge job and jumped in the pool inbetween for an hour of swimming. Seeing I didn't have a swim for days it was great and Nathan groomed again - wow - it was most appreciated. He started Cooper, I lined combed him.

Benji also got a bunch of seeds from a weed we have out back that stuck to his hair EVERYWHERE. As soon as this heat subsides Dennis will have to get rid of those.

While we have heats Nathan has to sleep in one room, me another. He gets the gals, I get the boys. Last night I had Cooper up against me on one side spooning and Benji on the other. It was pure heaven. I look forward to heats being over. No signs of anyone else coming in. Just watch it will happen when the others go out. I just know it...

Hanging with the Dawgs

Nathan was outside with the dogs and I was the inside person. Tomorrow I said I am going outside when I can still swim.

With heats you have to separate so that means each of us get a selection of dawgs. I look forward to the end of the heat.

Today Nathan had Cooper in the pool and he did the crazy wild play with Scruffy. Interesting Benji just watched. It's the first time I saw that.

Check out a few of the photos.

I brushed everyone today myself and told Nathan if he was taking any swimming he was the groomer. In the past he would say can' they all swim and now he understands you also have to do the brushing afterwards. Sometimes I am up to the whole crew, sometimes like today I am not. I usually do more grooming that Nathan by far. He gives me the off relief but I do appreciate any help I can get.

Scruffy waded on the steps but didn't actually swim. I think after Nathan brushed Cooper with his massive hair he decided no one else and to be honest he was only out there for a short time. Me, I only got to go outside when I repotted some plants that sorely needed it as they were root bound. I ran out of soil so tomorrow I get more and finish the 2 remaining.

Let's see I didn't read the paper today. I didn't get my grooming stuff cleaned up. Oh well, this always happens with pups and then when they are a week old you relax and life allows you to get more done.

Even with all this we managed to have a grand day playing and I will tell you a little secret, Benji is the very best bedtime snuggler.

I am munching on wonderful fruit and granola. Thank you Cooper's humans!

One of Those Days

Roxie and Panda Snoozing

Interesting enough the gals in heat are in the same room as Fiona and usually right at first it would be a big no as the disturbing nature of the others being close would upset them.

But we showed them the pups and Fiona didn't mind and they were all delighted including Panda. I guess the words would be fascinated.

Dennis did most of the work with the crew today.

Sure I got Daisy washed, Logan washed and brushed out but when you are whelping Dennis has to pull his weight with the rest and he does. It is most appreciated.

Our son Jon went and got fast food or we wouldn't have eaten. We didn't get to the grocery store and I am hoping we will tomorrow but we shall see. We need to or we will be doing takeout. hahahaha

We have Cooper and Scruffy coming tomorrow so I am glad we are not whelping tomorrow. Pool time is in store for sure and Benji is going to love playing with these 2. :-)

More tomorrow!

Molly & Crew

Molly

Hi Darlah and Nathan,

This is taken on the lawn in front of the Coburg Yacht Club by a family just dying for a new dog. Can't tell you how many people have asked for your name. Molly is a huge hit where ever we go. She adjusted beautifully to the boat ,at the dock and under sail. She sleeps the whole night through as if she was right at home. I'm learning her "doglish" better every day.

Following your blog when we can. Will see you in Brighton in August.

Susan, Larry and Sailor dog Molly

-------------

From me: Sailor dog Molly - how wonderful and thank you for sharing her with us! She looks like she knows how to have fun.

MiaWe have had a blah day. We played outside but it is overcast and muggy. It appears the dogs don't like the mugginess all that much - go figure.

Mia is visiting for the day while the humans play golf. Mia lives summers in Toronto and winters in Arizona. We are lucky to get to see her when she is staying in Toronto.

Mia is a Fiona and Kat puppy. She has Fiona's size, Kat's colour hair and Kat's spirit for swimming it seems. Lucky gal gets to swim all year round. I wish.

Here she was in our TV room playing with Roxie. I brushed this gal out before she leaves shortly and she has an amazing coat. It's silky and full. It was a delight to have her today.

Benji also found the fun with Mia. Benji is also a Fiona pup and both have a sensational personality. Benji just adores the play. Nothing seems to bother him and he is so loving.

He's a truly special guy and I have no doubt his humans invest a great deal in him as it shows.

DaisyDaisy goes home tomorrow. How did it happen so fast. She gets a spruce up (full bath - whitening version as lord know she has played hard here, massage and a treat with lots of hugs. She will be missed. Her wild play in the water - well thanks for the true laughs, Daisy.

Cooper is going to visit us on Thursday and Scruffy too.

Panda is dealing with this crazy heat business. There are no signs of Roxie having hers. We could be so lucky to have them at the same time. Easier is not always what we get.

Off to feed the dogs and take them outside before the rain hits. In this mugginess I may sit out in it and take a natural shower of sorts. We shall see. I do love the storms and some of the dogs will actually sit out with me... not all.

Summer is Here

I do believe Benji thinks he is on a holiday that is filled with an adventure everyday and he is.

Logan hasn't visited for a bit and he will be excited to see him. Charlie is now home and Daisy goes in a couple of days. I do believe Cooper is coming for a swim on Thursday. It's an exciting week and sometime in there Fiona will have pups. Oh boy!

Some of the dawgs swam tomorrow, others didn't. I ran out of steam after brushing Truffie's hair out after his swim. Nathan helped with the brushing but I lost my desire to swim as it was simply too much brushing today.

I think tomorrow we will have a no swim day just because and them tomorrow comes and we will be swiming again. heheh I do like the dogs to have fun.

We have been doing a lot of tug toy stuff and retreival fun games and it's funny to see the angles they take to win.

Here are a few photos from today.

Did you manage to have a great long holiday weekend?

I got 2 plants repotted and I like them in the pots so much that I am going to go get 2 more pots so I have matching plant pots. But stores are closed so I will be getting them tomorrow. I also mossed up to planter pots lining the walls. I hardly got to swim today. Thats' what happens when it's dawgs and a 'to do' list to finish. hehe

Kat's Brother

Thought I would share a photo of Kat's brother, Murphy.

This is breakfast on the patio with his human mom.

It's great seeing a photo of the guy.

Both Kat and Murphy and the rest of the siblings have another birthday on the 19th.

Mystery Day

Let me tell you the highlights of today.

Daisy walks in the pool and jumps off the steps and starts swimming to me. Okay, Daisy what was that about? Then she starts running back and forth on the stairs and kicking up water and doing the run like hell game with herself. I am dying with laughter.

Then all of a sudden she jumps back in and swims again.

Now this is all fine and dandy but every time I brushed her she did it again. For my sanity sake I took her inside after her fifth time of doing this. I can only brush so much.

Benji started playing with Abigail in a big way. He was having a grand time and wanted nothing to do with the pool or anyone else. Yesterday all he could think of was the pool. Okay, so he is smitten with Abigail and doesn't want to come in and she's playing back with him. So no pool day is okay too.

Hmmm but usually he likes Roxie more than mom Abigail. He didn't even want to play with Charlie or Daisy - strange stuff. So, I picked up Abigail, put her in the house with Dennis and he started playing with everyone and not having a one track mind. What was that about?

So, I go in and look at Abigail and she may be in an early stage of getting her heat too. oh boy...

Now my daily thing will be to check the gals. Abigail is now hanging out with the gals in heat and extra gals that we rotate so everyone has fun. She is now banned from hanging out with the boys unless I turn out wrong and she is not in heat. She's not bleeding yet but she is swollen and that's one of the 1st signs. I caught Teaser early too. You pay attention to the boys and they tell you everything unless you are slow like I was today.

Nathan is feeling better but not whole. He took Teaser swimming today and then had a relapse and now is surrounded by dogs watching tv.

Teaser took to swimming with ease though she had enough after 3 swims. So I guess she liked it not loved it and that's okay too.

Then Panda and Roxie had a race. Nathan put them in the pool at the exact same time and Panda won. We only did it once but Panda is a very strong swimmer. Bravo, Panda! Next time, Roxie.

Charlie decided today he would rather play than swim. That is okay. Nathan was running out of steam. Charlie gets a bath in the morning and then he is off to hang out at his house.

Life changes and Cooper comes to visit on Thursday and let's see if Benji can keep up.

Fun times was had today despite me coughing and Nathan not doing well. Tomorrow I bet will be a splendid day.

Oh, and I did go to Loblaws seeing the stores was closed tomorrow and it was QUIET. I expected busy. How interesting.

Burning Hot

It's so hot that Daisy just jumped on the stairs, jumped on the chair all to make sure she got my towels wet. I need to learn to hang up the towels. hahahaha

It's nice to see Daisy letting loose and doing the run like hey game. Get her wet and it happens every time.

She's been playing her heart out and crashing.

Dexter goes home tomorrow after a bath. Nathan was or is very sick so he's been in bed most of the day. No swimming for him so Dennis helped me get the dawgs in so I could snap a couple.

I could have said I couldn't but the dawgs needs fun even if we don't feel up to it. I am still congested but better than Nathan and Dennis is well.

Dexter, Charlie, Benji, Roxie and Spice have been playing up a storm. Unfortunately Teaser is in heat and will be bred and go back to Paula's for her last litter and Panda has her first heat (not Roxie yet) so she will be hanging out segregated for the 3 weeks. It's okay. How we do it is interesting. The gals in heat get placed with some of the other gals. The boys and some of the non heat gals are out with Dennis and the we switch people and dogs so they get to be in different places and outside and with both of us. With Nathan so sick its our working solution. When he is better we have all 3 till heat is done. We do it without even thinking.

I had the crew playing retreive in my office and we were having a total blast. I believe in the gals not feeling isolated just because they are in heat. That wouldn't be fair if you did that so we make sure the only change is they are not with the boys.

If Nathan is better tomorrow or Monday we will get Panda and Teaser swimming. We shall see.

We had plans to check out Shane Baghai's Paradise Cafe. I wanted one of their Steak sandwiches with their onion rings. Oh well, another day maybe after Fiona has pups or maybe I will take her with me and check it out Monday or Tuesday and do takeout. We shall see. It depends on how Nathan is.

When pups come I go no where.

Here are a few photos plus Envy's (someone else took that one). Dennis hates when I click him so many I had a tough time getting photos without an arm or something in the way. I am the same way so I get it.

Envy

Yes, Charlie and Dexter are apricot sables and Benji is a brown sable with apricot overtones but right now I am calling them the sable boys and they are having so much fun its exhausting watching how they can go, go, go.

I just finished grooming all swimmers again. I brush when wet, let them dry and brush again.

Tomorrow it will be down to Charlie and Benji and then just Benji but that's okay as Benji plays with Roxie and Spice in a big way. But we won't hear those loud runs back and forth inside and out like we do from 3 boys. Every now and then Risa and Daisy say ENOUGH boys. It's so funny.

Hope the rest of you are having a great holiday weekend. I can't believe tomorrow is July 1st already.

Hot Daze

It was windy today. We had our popup fall into the pool. Taking that out was interesting. Thankfully no damage to anything.

Benji is a riot who just wants to go, go, go into the pool. Interesting enough we had the crew hanging out at the pool but didn't necessarily want to go swimming.

We couldn't figure it out and then when we were ready to go in we realized we had the pool cleaner going. Oh, that's the issue. hahahaha

Tomorrow we will be back at it without the pool cleaner. Benji could care less about the pool cleaner and the same with Roxie and Kat. The others just looked.

Teaser and Panda are both in heat and Panda is staying here. It's going to be an interesting 3 weeks. Pups, boys, gals in heat but we will survive. We always do!

I may be doing takeout though.

Hope all of you have a fab holiday weekend!

Indoor & Outside Fun

Scruffy just had the snip, snip so he was unable to go in the pool but that's okay. He had fun from the moment her arrived till he went home and I am sure it continued. Gad was he so full of it today and it was grand to watch Scruffy, Benji and Roxie play.

Here are a couple of more photos.

We also had some pool time fun with ours and some visitors. Breeze and Chinook was hanging out and is now hanging out at their cottage on Lake Huron - lucky them! I got the duo all lined combed and washed up in hopes that it will last as Shelley has a broken arm. I doubt sand, water and all that will make it last but I am sure we will hear.

Kat was having a grand time jumping in but everyone that was visiting or ours that wanted to was swimming including Dexter, Benji and Daisy.

Swam again this evening so no time for photos but here are a few that I managed to get together. I will try to get more tomorrow but highlights.... Benji is a very strong swimmer and adored the pool. Dexter wasn't crazy about this swimming stuff but once he got in he wanted to keep going. Daisy was a riot and jumped on the top step then the 2nd and out then did it again and then decided to jump right in and swim from the 2nd step.

After all was wet they did the 'run like hell' game and Nathan brushed them all out. I had brushed them all this morning before we went out to the pool. Nathan brushed after they got wet. I did appreciate the help.

It all happens again tomorrow.

Me, I am burnt but wow it was nice to be back in the pool.

Outside Playing

Remember Logan getting his haircut short. I have to search back and see the date.

Logan is not one of my breedings but he is dearly loved. I have been washing him weekly and brushing him out 5 days a week and his hair as difficult as it was is changing. I almost gave in and said cut him short again a month ago and then I said after the picnic and suddenly the texture, the colour, the products I am using is paying off so the moral of this story is don't give in too early if you have difficult hair. Most Havanese don't have this texture hair. Our Shoshi has the same texture but a thicker coat - easier in some ways and harder in others.

I rather like the way Logan looks these days and he's got a personality that I adore!

We had a low key day playing retrieve and cuddling as the weather has not been good enough to swim but they say the heat wave is coming tomorrow.

Here are a few photos from today...

Tomorrow I hope we have heat, lots of swimming as we do when a heat-wave comes on and we even manage to get unexpected visitors wanting to swim with their dawgs. We will see what this holiday weekend brings.

Off to wash a couple of dogs tonight and take some photos for their human mom and dad.

Fun Day Today

This was a no pool day. It wasn't too hot. It wasn't too cold. The dawgs were indeed enjoying the show.

What show you ask?

Well Benji, Dexter, Jlo and Roxie were going for what seemed hours and then we would all cuddle on the deck and on the deck furniture outside under blankets.

It was delightful.

Jlo was in just for the day to get a brush-up and get to play herself silly and that she did. She goes home soon. So does Logan and Panda who got into it but not like the 4 above.

Here's a few photos of the day and I have many more but I need to rest. Benji is a Fiona son who is the darker brown sable and looks like he is going to stay dark. Dexter is not one of ours but is also a sable just a lighter version and we love him.

Dexter ends up coming in not sure but ends up relaxing and remembering, I suppose. He visits us very infrequently but the visits are great as he really allows himself to let go and be a dawg and that's what it is about.

Descriptions directions are you facing the screen so your right or left.

Benji had long flowing hair but they are gone for a month and was afraid it was too much work so she slowly clipped him down herself.

Molly, Molly, Molly

Molly sometimes comes for a bath, cleanup of the feet and nails and today was the day.

I kept trying to get a photo of her and she wouldn't look my way. She rolled. She ignored and as you can see she only wants the treat that Nathan had.

I had her so perfect.

Benji is coming tonight and I can't wait. This is a Fiona pup. I can't wait to have him come swim. Will it warm up?

Dexter has been hanging out and getting mighty comfie. He has been playing with Roxie, Panda, Spice and sometimes Abigail. I also caught him cuddled up to Nathan today while Nathan was snoring. I should have clicked that but was afraid to disturb. He doesn't seem to like my camera. I think it must be the large lens. But we are working on that!

It should have been ME that had that nap. I do believe I am sick again due to whatever Nathan has decided to give me. Fun, not. So if you come visit and I stay across the room, understand its not me being rude but rather caring if you get this. I can't believe in less than 2 weeks perhaps we are going to have 3 puppies - oh my - how fun is that?

Rain and More Rain

The parents, the human kind took all the cushions in as it's supposed to rain today, tomorrow (sigh).

All we wanted was pool time after all this craziness. Oh well, it's still summer.

We should be weeding but we do not have any energy.

Instead we are watching Suits each surrounded by dawgs while I type this blog up.

We have been chillin since the humans went to a sanction match with Panda. Panda got a pretty yellow ribbon, the start of many more to come.

It was great to see Lynda and her mom along with the Logan who came too.

Can't wait to see them tomorrow.

Check out Envy playing with Paula's pups at Tracy's house. Plus here's another one.

Bat Mitzvah

Our Grand Daughter Sarah I am not going to bog down this area with family photos but here are a few that I added due to a request.

- Our daughter from North Carolina Kendra and her son Eli

- Our grand daughter Danielle, The Bat Mitzvah gal and our grand daughter Sarah and our daughter Tracy

- Kendra's other son, Luke

- The Bat Mitzvah gal, Sarah

These were photos I took. I have over 500 - would you think any different but I won't bore you with the rest.

Breeze and Chinook

We had the pleasure of having Breeze and Chinook here and they are visiting this coming week again. Can't wait!

We are also having a lot of fun with Dexter. Yvonne, who watched the dogs today while we were at a family event had lots of snuggles with him. Now he is vegging watching TV with Dennis and some of the crew. Me, I am typing out this blog and I am ever so tired.

Our family event is still going on. Nathan is still there. I came back to let Yvonne head back home as her hubby is sick. I truly appreciate all her help. I couldn't have done it without her. I also had to pack everything for a sanction match tomorrow so dogs will get groomed tomorrow afternoon or I will take a break till Monday and line comb everyone.

I was up half the night and so were the dawgs. Our grand daughter was too and I kept seeing her saying she was studying and was nervous at 2am and again at 4am.

Having this event made me realize just how much I miss the daughter in North Carolina. Her kids were delightful (a handful but fun)  but she is such a good mom. I wish she lived closer.

I am looking forward to snuggling with the dawgs tonight and falling fast asleep. If I put my feet up now I would be sleeping.

Dawgs were really happy to see us and I them. As we are driving back home our son Jon was telling me that x restaurant is no longer there and this club is gone and this has changed and realized I don't get out much. hahahaha

I think Nathan gets out more than me by far - well actual;ly I know. It's me and the dawgs and most times when I am not missing things it's where I love being.

Nite, folks!

Hanging at the Pool

We are indeed going to pool time it today though I got to line comb some dogs as they won't have time to before going home and wash the Panda and Logan. I also have to get Breeze and Chinook in the pool if it isn't too cool out there.

Today Yvonne arrives and Saturday she is it for watching the dawgs till we get home Saturday. At least she has the air and pool and here is hoping Debi's air is cooling her off too though I think the heat broke.

Then Sunday we have a Sanction match.

A kiss goes out to Jazzy - not necessary - seriously but he bought us a daylily to replace the ones he had fun digging up. Folks, I wasn't complaining. I was laughing about a dawg being a dawg. I enjoy him letting his hair down, so to speak. I guess we are truly dawg people as I don't worry about that stuff.  But now as it grows I will think about him! I adore Jazzy being a dawg and he does just that!

Well, off to brush dawgs before Yvonne gets here and Logan and Panda will arrive anytime. It's going to be a fun day!

PS: Did you see Pavlov's birthday photos in Abigail's blog? DELIGHTFUL!

Pool Dawg Fun

Sorry we are so late in the updates today but we had a long pool day of fun. It started out with the dawgs and they came out and got brushed and groomed and the humans family members went in.

I have some photos of Scruffy and Ty. I didn't get the rest as the camera stick was full and realized I put my extra sticks to take with me for rehearsals but couldn't remember where I put them so tomorrow we will try to get Chinook, Breeze, Logan and Panda. That's okay, we still have tomorrow to click the rest.

With grandkids getting ready for festivities in the evening with out of towners tomorrow, Yvonne coming in etc we will have some quiet time to get the 4 in the pool and take photos. I promise. Silly me for not being prepared.

I am not sure Chinook and Breeze enjoy the pool as much as the lake but we will be working on it when it is quieter. They enjoyed it but that passion on the beach is something else. Let's see if tomorrow we can get them as excited about the pool as they are about the lake. We will be doing the same with Logan. It was a loud day. Panda just went with the flow like she usually does.

Here are the few photos I took. Scruffy took to the water like he was meant to swim. Ty was a bit nervous that first swim and after that he was an amazing swimmer and didn't mind at all and quite liked it. That's good. Nathan is good at introducing them to the water.

Got many more but I need to get caught up and do cleanup. What a magnificent storm and Ty will be picked up momentarily.
