Fiona's Getting Big

Nathan and Treasure was playing with Fiona tonight when I captured this photo. I *had* Fiona nicely groomed and thenNathan plays with her pushing her hair 5 ways to Sunday cause guess what, he doesn't groom. hahahaha

Next week - midweek, Fiona goes to the vet for her x-ray. Then we will know if we are on track for Feb 14th - the day of love.

Treasure has not had her bath as we felt it was more important for her to be with the babies. I am hoping for Sunday for hers.

Now you know my dawgs are not always looking their best. We do have a life - or so we attempt to.

If we have a 14th delivery, I will be giving them temporary names until their owners give them their real names cause it will just be fun to have a love theme and I need some fun.

Whatr's This White Stuff?

The snow keeps coming and that human keeps shovelling these things she calls paths so we can run like banshees all over the place having a roaring grand time.

Yep, it's a lot of work especially when the white stuff keeps coming but it's also an amazing amount of fun.

I like to stay out and started playing the 'come chase me' game but those humans won't play.

Maybe they are smarter than I give them credit for.

Be sure to keep warm and teach recall to your little one.

Do you know how?

Hiding Strategies

Digging for treasures. I know what's under there - a hacky sack or a treasured toy or...

Yes, they take them outside, bury them like the sqirrels all to dig them back up again.

Well, we are trashed. Off to bed rather early tonight. Our son has the night shift with Treasure and he will sleep all day - what a life.

I am glad we have him to help out so I can feel normal.

Spice and the Shoshi spent serious time treasure hunting today all in time for a huge storm coming or so they say.

Shaved Tummies

Did you know you can shave your Havanese's tummy to eliminate those tangles and mats?

If you have a neck warmer hanging around and you want to keep the belly warm. just place it over the midsection. It's cheap. It works and it looks cute.

You can also clip the hair in the arm pits.

The hair even with all this shaving and clipping can still appear long but reduce most of the work through the blowing coat stage that they only go through once.

Early Update

I am updating this early just incase I can't update it later. With Treasure's temperature dropping, her wanting to be with me 24/7, something is up.

Our son is hanging out and playing with the crew and I am going to concentrate on the Treasure.

But I still managed to capture a moment with Spice's eyes saying oh my Mommy want are you doing.

If nothing happens, I will go back to normal as nathan will be home for the weekend from work too.

Wouldn't it be nice if she accommodated him? Personally, I am still hoping for Sunday.

By the way, the Spice adjusted to sleeping on the bed just fine. She also thinks she is one of the big guys.

We are teaching no bark as she feels the need to invite play this way. Ouch - my ears - but we are making progress.

Low Key Day

Today we had a lot of snuggles, yard investigations, walks and we are taking it easy otherwise.

That human mom is being lazy not doing photos. She will tomorrow but she is getting ready for pups.

There is simply a lot to do to be prepared and make sure you have everything in place.

So, we are playing, cuddling and enjoying but otherwise, we are chillin'

A Little Crazy Dawg Play

Jay dropped in to have a good play with the crew. It was a riot to watch as you will see if you check out today's photos on Talemaker Puppy Life.

Even Spice got into the mix cause she thinks she is one of the bigger ones these days. It happens fast.

I am really looking forward to hearing about Red's reunion with his human siblings. They have been away and I hear a huge reunion is in store tonight so do fill us in. I want to see photos.

I miss the Red but hey I miss them all - the big suck that I am.

I just love action photos of the dawgs. They always give you something to snap - don't you think?

A Lil' Red in One's Life

Red is heading back to his forever home tomorrow and his family is excited to see him.

It was great that he came for a visit as we really miss the guy.

Treasure, as pregnant as she is still enjoys him and it's nice to see.

It's going to be an emptier house without him.

Let's hope the weather warms up and the white stuff flies so I can go back to taking photos after much rest.

Off to sit in the recliner and get draped in dawgs.

Boody Cold Out There

Extreme cold weather alerts today. They say if you have open skin for 10 minutes you can get frostbitten.

So PLEASE be careful about the dawgs. You do not want anything to happen to these precious beings.

Instead of longer stints outside, we went outside many, many times and right back in. This way they can do what they need to in a fast manner.

Yes, I go out with them too. You can't be lazy about it. It helps you to know the weather, what is going on with their body functions and you can clean up.

You can also take photos like I do.

What's it going to be like with Frannie gone and Spice in bed with us and Red home.

Well, one thing about this dawg breeding stuff, us humans have a lot of conditioning to falling in love and letting go. It's not easy. But it can be rewarding on the other hand.

Too Tired, Too Busy

Wanted to get photos up today but guess what, I think I overwrote them. It's one of THOSE Days.

But we will regroup tomorrow and figure it out. We have company coming shortly, dawgs to be brushed and then I think I will fall fast asleep.

Everyone is doing great except Nathan and I could use some serious sleep.

So look for everything back on track TOMORROW!!

No Class Dogs Again

Raylan is sitting on 9 points and needs 1 point. Yet again people don't show or pull their dogs and as you can see my face...what is that about?

If Raylan gets his point then he's done. So let's hoping we at least have competition tomorrow.

Otherwise I will have to put my mug up again and you don't want me to do THAT - now do you?

On a good note, we had fun with the amount of people that loved him. He is such a happy boy and so lovey to everyone. That's what a Havanese should be but tomorrow I have to get up at 5am, wash him to do it again.

I am sooooooooooooo tired. Maybe I can sleep on the way. We shall see.

Just keep me away from the vendors will you?

The hubby hands me $$ and its not enough. What can I say, I needed some stuff including a new brush.

The hidden items you have to have to show - the tools...the products.

Off to the Show

Raylan is off to the show tomorrow. He's showing in London at the Western fairgrounds at 1pmish.

My day starts first thing feeding then bathing then driving a couple of hours, setting up and yeah I have other dogs to groom before I go. Okay, Nathan is driving and showing but I get to do the rest. I may have to drive home and then bathe Raylan tomorrow night for Sunday's show as that is early.

Can I sleep now?

Then in April we start doing this with Spice. Are we NUTS?

Isn't that when pups go home? Oh boy we are really nuts. Okay - its not till the last weekend of April that she can be shown so we should be just fine.

What's the since of fretting already?

We are also trying to do the Montreal show so we can visit with 3 of our pups but that's after Fiona and Treasure's pups are already in their forever homes. Now that will be fun.

Headache Time

Raylan and Abigail play amazing and so does Red.

When I saw this photo, I went oh my - momma got a headache from those KIDS!

The dawgs were playing like we just pumped them up with excitement and then they crashed. It was so much fun to watch.

Today I clipped the hair from their pads. You should too.

More snow is coming. Stay warm!

Shoshi Love

Shoshi love is rather special. It took Shoshi a long time to come into herself. She was acquired from a breeder that sent her way too early despite our protests and we played catchup in a big way but Shoshi really has become all she is meant to be.

Sometimes the pack, the little ones, lotts of exposure offer a conditioning that allows a dog to grow and learn.

Dawgs are worth the effort and Shoshi is a living, breathing example.

Give you dawg a hug and cuddle tonight. I know I will each and every one.

Message From Charlie

Hi Nathan and Darlah and the crew, this is CHARLIE !

Taking a few minutes before my nap to give you some news.

I am adapting well to my new house, exploring one room at a time. I even managed to go up a set of stairs ( 15 uncarpeted steps !!!) in less than 3 seconds when I was looking for my mom last night....she told me she would have a heart attack if I tried this trick going down.... so later while we were playing hide and seek, I managed the stairs down in 15 seconds with MOM in front of me, in case.... Mom and Dad have added a carpet on the 'Charlie' shopping list

I  am sending you a picture of me with my new sweater . Even if I do not like to put it on, it really makes a difference on how long I can enjoy the snow at minus 10C... but at minus 20C ( like this AM), everybody stayed inside, sweater or not...

Finally, I would like to report that I enjoy being brushed and even combed... I think I fell asleep last night on my Mom's lap while she was combing me.  I have one issue... I told her very CLEARLY that I do not want to have my behind fur combed.

This is all for now.

Love,

Charlie

P.S. Did you notice that my name is the same ( but for the spelling) as my great, grand-father ( on my Mom's side) and I look  like him ?.... what a coincidence

Gracie Update

Gracie is adjusting to life in her new forever home. Although she was the littlest, she is one of the escape artists.

It tells me size doesn't matter.

They have taken the crate out of their x-pen set-up and that handled that.

Did you know that Havanese purrs? Well, her human family notices that Gracie does.

It's something that they do early on as early as 3 weeks when they are deliriously happy. Not all do and some lose that communication but it's one of the first things they do that we as breeders get so excited about. So when I heard she was purring, it did my heart good.

Investigations

With a yard only so large one would think that eventually the dawgs would find nothing to investigate but that's not true.

They are always exploring, enjoying and learning new things.

But watch out for them eating sticks. They can get indigestion or worse. It's natural. They always look to chew on them especially if you have some sticking out of the ground but give them something else to chew.

We have had a low key day. No grooming other than the younger set.

I think I am playing emotional recovery. It's crazy but it's true.

The Chase, Tackle Fun

Our dawgs really know how to have fun and I enjoy clicking them having it.

Shoshi and Abigail are no exception. They find this run like hell game delightful.

I do too.

It doesn't matter if they are young or old, put two Havanese that enjoy play together and watch the fun begin.

But take it from me, you should have your camera ready as it is delightful to watch, capture and make your own tales.

We do it all the time and thus our name!

If you want to see a larger view, click on the photos.

As you can see, this game was a huge success. Abigail tackled Shoshi and I swear Shoshi was laughing about it.

It took Shoshi a long time to find her play as she came to us way too early. You should never get a Havanese before the 9 to 10 week mark as they truly learn from their moms.

You don't realize just how much till you watch one slowly learn from the pack and now that she does, it's as if she has a new lease on life - a fun one!
