Fun Loving House Tonight!

Archie and Chewie were playing up a storm this morning. It was a riot.

It's still hot and until the night, we can't walk and we are only going outside for short periods of time. It's more of a quick in, do your duty, run if desired and then in. But then they come inside and that's a different story.

We had the run-like-hell game all over the place.

Then Hugo and Milo showed up and Hugo was chasing Kat all over the place. Hugo also all over Raylan saying - play, play, play. We heard Raylan's voice - oh my and it's a large one. Wait till he meets Daisy.

Then Oscar showed up and he went - wow I remember this place. He did his meet and greet and hanging out and snuggles and he was happy. I just adore snuggling with him. He rather likes Raylan.

Then DD and Tess came and this is their first time so we are slowly getting them socialized with the crew. We do this on purpose. We don't flood but instead condition and play and spend quality time getting them connected with one and then go from there. We do believe they are going to be more than okay.

We are hoping tomorrow it cools down. Off to finish the walks. It's finally cooled down.

Check out a few of today's photos. There's not much but I have to practice doing good indoor shots. This heat is forcing me to do so. We will have photos of DD & Tess tomorrow.

Comings & Goings at Talemaker Havanese

Splish, Splash, they were taking a bath.

Daisy and Teddy had a bath today as they went home. Two party dogs going their separate ways. I am sure their paths will meet again here.

Teddy was also smitten with the Treasured one. Shanty also went to her forever home.

Wow, a lot of changes.

Then Missy and Holly arrived and were fascinated by the puppies. We even had one out to play with them. A video will be up tomorrow.

Did you know the more you groom, the more conditioned they get to grooming? But even when we groom, do you know what is often forgotten? The eye area cleanup and the ears and yep those nails.

Even when boarders come in the door, it would be easy to say - oh tomorrow we will start grooming but I don't. Each day is a day of grooming conditioning that hopefully helps you and helps them.

Mucking it Up Havanese Style

Daisy gets brushed up and voila, you would swear I didn't touch her. Personally, I love the chaotic look. Shoshi has that look too.

Daisy has been mucking it up and if there is a mud patch in the back, well she finds it. You have to laugh at such fun. Sure it is extra work for me but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Today we hung outside, played up a storm - found mud and just enjoyed life. Then comes the walks and catching zzzzs.

Now that's a Talemaker Havanese Life. hehehehehe

Snooze & You Lose

Remy EatingPeople wonder how we ever feed so many dogs at once. It takes practice but if we have a very slow eater, we have gates and we put a couple in another room together or one alone but usually they all eat together.

But some are used to grazing and what I mean by that is they just eat and walk away and expect it to be there. It's there still due to us. We pick it up if they walk away.

You should see their faces when they can't figure out where it is gone but if they keep doing this routine, we don't put it back down till we can focus just on them.

There are techniques but our crew, other than the Treasured one knows you eat your own. Poor Treasure just thinks the world is hers and hers alone. hahahaha

We have had another low key day. Tomorrow we have a few new visitors joining us. It's going to be exciting. But in the meanwhile, we have played retrieve and run and find the toy and now it is snuggle time. No photos today. I promise some for tomorrow.

Another Havanese Leaves Us Sniff Sniff!

Towser in the MiddleHere is Towser in the middle. He was always in the thick of things having a grand time. He was such an expressive boy and always knew how to grasp the fun factor.

Check out today's photos called Dry Fun Finally.

One of his best pals was Scout. But he also played with Zack, Jasper, Chico and Rufus. It's been a riot this week. I am loving the photos they are giving me and the snuggles and the laughter.

Wednesday, Penny comes for the day one of Fiona's puppies and Remy who is a regular. Then on Friday some of the rest will be going home.

I didn't get the crew brushed out till 430pm today. Oh well, do you see dawgs unbrushed - hehehe Two minutes after they are they try to look that way anyway. Still, I get them done - just not in the morning like I like.

It was a pretty spectacular day out. It was warm and dry and the dawgs ran around like crazy and I loved it.

I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Fiona & Katsura's Daughter at the Purina National

Fiona's Daughter Kit KatYesterday Talemaker N Aslans Kit Kat got reserve winner and today she got Best of Winners. This is her first show. She is a few days over six months old. We are very excited and so is her owner, Val Weston. Way, to go, Val and Kitzie (Val's pet name for her).

Gad that dawg just adores Val and that's how it should be.

Today Saki, Marlee and Jazmyn went home. Saki brought over her best crinkle hiding bag as a gift to the puppies. Thank you, Saki!

We will miss Marlee and Jazmyn. Marlee really played up a storm today. I was worried her hair would end up dirty but I would like to say it was her intentionally keeping clean but no - it was a MIRACLE. hehehe

Jazmyn has ended up being the very best snuggler. She's also feeling way comfie as she is playing and playing and when Coco Beans wanted the top of the couch, Jazmyn took a toy and shook it and Coco jumped down and Jazmyn took her spot. They are just so like kids, don't you think?

Scout is the funniest dog you ever did see. Between him and Towser, they were rolling all over the place and sometimes Towser was on top and other times Scout was. You have to see the size difference to appreciate it as Scout is just a wee puppy with the spirit called fun loving. Check out today's photos called Fun Lovin' Play to see what I mean.

Zack and Towser and Marlee were playing bigtime today but Nathan had the camera at the show.

Will it ever stop raining?

The two eight month old brothers, Chico and Jasper, were playing rather well but Saki, one of their sisters, was clearly the boss. She just told them what to do and they listened. Saki was like that when she was 8 weeks old so why would anything change? It was great to see them all together. Did they act like they knew each other? Absolutely and Wasabi was thrilled that they were here. I found that interesting.

Rufus was mixing it up with Treasure, Jasper and Chico today and sometimes Marlee. I caught it on video but don't ask me to convert it today. We had all but 3 hours of sleep. Our old lady Golden Retriever, 14 years young, had tummy problems and we had a puppy with an upset tummy and NO SLEEP. I may crawl into bed and take a nap.

Wet & Dry Days Havanese Style

Dry CrewIt started out as a dry day. Scout slept all the way till 630 and was raring to go. Marlee was playing like a banshee and Jazmyn was snuggling in the bed with Terra, our golden.

Jasper and Chico was playing like they were long lost brothers. heh

Rufus decides to eat faster than lightening so he can play with the boys.

Then our regulars Zack and Coco came in and then a new dog Towser. We didn't manage to get photos of Towser yet as I was busy drying dawgs and I had already pulled photos off for the photo gallery. I figure drying dawgs was more important but look for photos of him tomorrow along with Saki that is coming for an overnight visit.

We also had a dawg yank a bag off the counter but I caught it and back on the counter further away from the edge it went. We won't name names here. But no worries, no dietary indiscretions and beyond it hitting the floor, they didn't have time to get into it. :-)

We Crew

Here's part of the crew when it first started raining but it got much worse.

Dawgs have to be walked and brought out to get some energy out of them and do their business. It's not fair to the dawgs if we put pads on the floor and expect them to expel all their energy inside.

Both inside and outside is important. So that's what they get and I just dry and dry and brush and brush. hehehehe

Really they were nicely brushed THIS morning. If you look at the latest photos, you will see their feet wet. It's days like this that the work never ends but it's wonderful when you have a dog like Towser laying on my box under my desk snoozing on my foot. It makes all the work worthwhile.

Now off to snuggle.

Oh My, What a Havanese Day

Rufus Wants Food You should see eating time. Yes, we have them eat in the same room and I monitor one side and Nathan monitors the other side of the room. We want everyone eating their own food not everyone else's.

Nathan is the food guy and prepares it all. I am the one that usually but not always cleans the dishes after they are done.

With puppies we are taking turns doing things when usually we are all doing it together. The only thing different is our son takes a shift when we have puppies. He's doing the night time and we are sleeping with the visitors and our crew. Then usually I take over puppy duty in the morning and Nathan takes over visitors and our crew in the morning while the son sleeps.

It all works. Then when the son gets up he starts walking dogs. This way nothing changes just different times for things. Without puppies I groom in the morning but with puppies I groom in the afternoon.

Check out today's photos.

But then when it is nasty on the streets, all that grooming is almost for nothing when they come back with a black underside from their walks but it's only dirt so I give them another brush and baths come before they go home.

Well today we had a really good game of retrieve going on with Scout, Chico and Jasper. Jasper usually has this huge chesire grin when he gets the toy.

Scout got up at 4am to do his business and wouldn't go back to sleep so we will try to get him to do it at 11pm tonight. Will it work? I don't know but we are creative here. What is sleep anyway. ROFL!!

That is what dawg living is about. You adjust and get creative and laugh.

All of the visitors was playing today as the ice is finally completely melting. Tomorrow the forecast is rain and more rain till Sunday night. Think about that grooming. It's okay. I am getting way good in how long I can get each done thoroughly. I won't cut corners but I guess the more you do, the faster you get.

Tomorrow Towser, Zack and Coco comes. More fun...and then Saturday Saki comes over night then Sunday some of our visitors start going home.

Two of the Havanese Guys Leaving Us Today

Weaver Loving the RunWeaver is the first to leave us about 1pm.

We are going to miss the guy. He has been bathed and spruced up and wow the house will change without all of the guys.

Weaver found his place with all playing like a banshee. He especially loved the retrieval games and the running and walks.

We are going to miss him.

The house changes whenever a bunch goes home at once.

Charlie yesterday, today Weaver and then Jay tonight.

Jay After Bath

Now what will we do without Jay?

Jay is in love with Treasure. Wherever Jay was, Treasure was always.

It was rare moments that this occurred. We did walks with others just to give him a chance to bond with the others and it worked but there was something intoxicating about Treasure.

I think she will have less knots not wearing Jay but to watch them enjoy each other was delightful. He will be missed and I do believe Treasure will probably shed a tear and then start back playing with Fiona. We shall see.

Tomorrow we get Chico, Jasper's brother and it will be a delight to see the boys together plus we will have played recovery fully. hehehe

Ah puppies... Now to get grooming done, rinse and clean up Wasabi and play with the crew.

Taking Photos of Havanese

Jasper  It can be a hit or miss depending on the players.

We always take photos after baths and Jasper well, was rolling and doing anything but pose. Our Wasabi does the same.

I have to laugh when they do such things. Nathan can either try or I do but the reality is you have to catch them in the moment.

You can't create the moment.

They are the artists here. They are not Havanese models doing just what you want... well some of them look like they are but you get the point.

But they make amazing subjects when they get into their groove and run and play. There's nothing like the movement in a Havanese.

We really enjoy them too. We laugh and laugh. There's always something each day that brings a smile and I rather like that. What would life be without a Havanese or two or three? I don't even want to imagine.

Just laughing

Nathan always seems to get down on the ground with the crew and they truly enjoy that he does.

Check out some of the photos from today to see what I mean.

Today I am almost better... the stuffiness won't go but the dawgs are ever so happy that I am back. Me too!

Now the puppies can come. How about Monday or Tuesday? Yeah, like we can plan such things.

Yeah Jazmyn and Marlee come tomorrow. Are we going to have fun or what!

Havanese Boarding Talemaker Style

Jazzy Just BathedJazzy was just bathed today and he feels WONDERFUL, if I might add. Now to keep him that way till his humans come to get him.

Immediately he just jumped in one of the dawg beds and rolled all over the place.

I just have to laugh at moments like this as you try to take a photo and you just laugh and the camera bounces all over the place from your laughter.

Still, I managed to capture the moment.

Let's see what we were up to today. We played retrieve in the kitchen with Jazzy, Ripley, Treasure and sometimes Fiona. Each joined in but the dear old Treasured one just tried to hog it all. So, we had to take her out of the equation. Ripley just LOVES squeakie toys.

I brushed all the dogs and EVERYONE is knot free. We cuddled, we played we went out for a stroll and then we played again.

Jazzy stirring up his hairRipley is a sweetheart. He lays on his back and lets me brush him out despite the reality that I know he isn't crazy about it. He is such a wonderful soul.

He wriggles and wags that tail and gives me a kiss though more reserved than his playmate Daisy that was here but still a kiss and a body wave of delight. What a cutie patootie.

Fiona's foot seems to be vastly better and we will fill you in on the preggie gals on Talemaker Puppy Life tonight. I think there is an explosion in the mid-section going on.
