Havanese Rescue Raffle and Silent Auction

Here is the link.

We still have gift certificates to figure out and I have now found a container to house them.

Personally I think everyone would love a bunch of gift certificates. I know I would. :-)

Everyone that donated - deepest appreciation from Havanese Rescue and from the dogs it helps. It really does help the dogs in needs. No one takes a salary like some rescues do. This is 100% for the care of the dogs in need. You are doing this to help the dogs and we do appreciate all of you!

No update today. I know that is getting old but really I need 36 hour days and I have puppies to take out and expel energy.

Short Update

Here's an old photo of Saffron. I am spent. I am still sick. Tonight we get the pups ready to be by themselves. All day long I had to separate items donated (thank you everyone truly) into baskets and make a list of each basket content. I also had to take a photo. It took me all day after I had to demat a dog. So today has been a day of nonstop but can't get the blogs done day. Tomorrow may be just as bad but I will tell you how the pups did. I will even attempt to take videos if I wake up in the night. You know I will have audio on and will be watching too.

On Thursday Lynda will help me cellophane wrap all the baskets. I so appreciate it. I must admit I feel a tad overwhelmed.

Tomorrow I have to get all the baskets and the list of contents online on Facebook and on the HFC page but I still have work to do to get to that stage.

Nathan is off to Florida next week (yeah lucky him - not sure about me) with his guy friends. Wonder when its my turn but I digress.

So, too busy.... just the facts.

No Gallery and No Photo Day

Had to post this old photo of Levon and Trigger. They are sooooooooo adorable.

I am really sick so I am making the blogs short. I had to demat a few dogs so no energy to take photos and well Nathan didn't but I did capture some of Patches playing. See Adele's blog.

Kona is here and Ty just departed. Kona had no issue becoming one of the guys. Reggie, Charlie, Cody and Maddie are having some lovefest today. They can't seem to get enough of each other.

Soon I am going to lay in a recliner and sit with dogs so the blogs will suffer. Hope you don't mind.

No Gallery Day

Ahhhh PJ and Cody playing and PJ is giving him kisses. Cody is Truffies brother. He is a white chocolate. He has the brown nose, the green eyes and the brown pads.

These 2 hit it off in a big way. But everyone played. They played and played.

I am still under the weather and have a few dogs to demat over the next few days for others so I am pacing myself. So, the blogs are suffering but its just temporary till I feel better.

Tomorrow the house gets quieter and on Monday even more so. But this weekend is busy till Monday night.

Maybe by Tuesday I will be well too. :-) Then I can stop my whining.

Just a Note

This is an old photo of Abs, Pavie and Rox for your enjoyment.

Folks, I am sweating up a storm. I have been grooming all day. Dennis took the pups out so no photos.

So, my goal is to finish one more dog. Do 1 photo on each blog with 1 link to a video and that's it.

Leti is in full blown heat so Kat is howling like a banshee. I have a headache. I am not sure if that is due to him or being sick or working my ahem off.

I have yet to answer mail.

So bear with me. I will play catch up tomorrow. That is, if I am still alive by morning. Off to do another dog.

Energy Level

Wild and crazy play
Still having fun but not as wild and crazy.

Each dog has their own energy level. Dogs that have a high energy level but don't get their energy expelled get into trouble. They get bored. So when we say no that one won't work for you it isn't about colour to us. It can't be. It is about your lifestyle.

I remember an Australian shepherd I had when I was a teen. It was supposed to be my dog but I had places to go, things to do as any teenager does. If you obtain a dog and you think your teenager is going to do all the work, think again. That Australian shepherd (higher energy than a havanese by far) ate all our blinds and all the carpets in one afternoon of being home. That dog ended up at a farm happy as a lark. It was the right home but it broke my heart. I never acquired a dog again strictly on looks. I also had to pay my mom for that dog as she rehomed him for nothing. Her concern was the right home not how much I had to babysit to pay for that dog. It made a huge impression on me.

Even though havanese are less busy than an Australian Shepherd, we are seeing some that do have high energy demands. We have not had one quite like we are seeing but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Sometimes they pull their genes from far back just like it happens in humans. So, I never say never.

Still ours do have a variety of needs. Some are quieter, more happy to just be hanging out and others get bored and need the interaction. You see it all the time when you see that x pup always in the middle of everything. Can you live with that? Some would relish and thrive with a dog like that and others need a more low key dog. Even the quiet ones need interaction. You live with the personality. There is no right or wrong personality, it just is.

They do calm down as they are older but your very high energy dogs take longer to calm down.

Today the dogs had a blast. Some ran, some watched, some joined in here and there. Magic seems to find fun with Saffron and Dolly finds fun with Saffron so what kind of a dog is Saffron? She's not low key unless you need to be and she's not high energy. She's a mid range dog who plays her heart out. But she also adjusts to the other dog's way of playing. She plays and then she also relishes tv time. We get to know the dogs and I find them all amazing but I am a crazy dawg person. What I can live with may be different than you.

Here's today's gallery.

Oh My Day

I brushed out dogs first thing. I then had 3 boys to clean up underneath. When gals are in heat they get messy on their undersides so I have to wash them underneath times 3 daily. Then I combed out more dogs. Nathan went to the store. Dennis was sleeping. It was me and the dogs. Then we took pups outdoors. I cleaned beds, did laundry. I am rendering a video. Catching up on blogs now. I will see what I can do.

But I had to share this as it was cuteness overload. No gallery on this blog today. Everyone is doing well including Magic who was brushed out and then proceeded to have a drink and get a total wet face. hahaha

Playing Catch Up

Where's the head? I certainly can't see it. I created a gallery going back a number of days. I may have some duplicates but I don't remember when I did the last gallery so ignore if I added more days in than I should have. Most have departed from this gallery but enjoy them none the less. I didn't edit. I just copied them in and created it. So if some are blurry or a head is cut off - ignore that too.

It was a beautiful day out so the dogs loved the outside. Let's hope this weather lasts.

Still no connection with Leti. Have to wait till she is receptive. It sort of works that way. :-)

Nora Update

From Alene:

> enjoying the day after Halloween, ignoring my candy saturated kids. Of

> course the dogs are hanging out with me.

That smile makes me smile. Hope it does the same for you.

Gallery delayed an additional day as I am crawling on the couch - sorry.

No Update Day

Well that's not true as we had the birthday update. Tomorrow I will play catch-up with a huge gallery. Tonight we will see if Leti is receptive to Montuno. With the time change, getting up at 430 for some gad forsaken reason and a lot on my mind and on my plate, I am exhausted so.... indulge me. I will post on Leti's site if they connect or they don't.

Otherwise, Patches is going home shortly and I will eat for the 1st time today. PS: Patches has been amazing. She snuggles warmly. It's been one of THOSE days.

But everyone had fun - seriously. I even managed a smile. heh

Thank you to the silver lining lady that brought bagels. You know who you are. Most appreciated - all of it!

Happy Birthday

Remember when?

Tanner, Goldies Zoe and Dusty Happy 3rd birthday!! These are Treasure's babies. We wish you all a truly special day!! We are so very proud of all of you and everything you do.

From Anne:

I have had several comments on Tanner's good looks (especially those big round eyes)  and his calm and loving temperament.  He is definitely Paul's little dog.  He follows Paul everywhere - including taking their afternoon nap curled up together!  We will be getting ready for our annual trek down south.  A couple of the ladies have already asked when Tanner will be coming down - he is a real charmer with the seniors!!

I got this from Simone:

Halloween Fun: Extended

Oh Cooper, how do they ever get you to pose like that. This one deserves to be on the wall. You make Halloween look elegant. Happy Halloween to you too!

Please do send Halloween photos so I can post - if you want.

I love Trigger and Levon. They make me laugh. It's as if they say really mom? You best give me a treat after THAT! Love these photos too! Oh my gad cuteness indeed!

Adding photos as they come.

Oh Murphy how long did it take for you to get used to that hat. heh What a great sport you are and a cutie too!

Here's a throwback photo - Cali as a pup

Here is Jeannie as a pup.

Now does anyone know which puppy this was below?

They're Back

Check out the gallery today. The Murphy is back and I want to tell you Nathan said Murphy is here and Saffron danced around like she won the lottery and well Murphy acted that way too. It was fun to see.

Caelen, Dolly, Brewer and Mia had a total zest of fun celebration today. Life was fun without rain but now we get to brush and brush. I usually brush first thing but I am finding the sense of brushing after the play is done.

Nathan was going to go to the show but he has decided not to. Between the heats and some virus going around the dog circuit, the pups are too important so we lose the $$ and that's okay too. We are still waiting for Panda to come in. Watch it will be the exact scenario of Roxie and Adele. Any bets?

Rain and More Rain

Some dogs love it, some hate it.

Angela said this photo if Patches and said:

She insisted on going on the deck to catch raindrops in the worst of the rain so far.  I just love her so very much.  Hugs!

From me: What a riot she is. Love that spirit!

But I have been busy cleaning dogs so no update but this one and the puppy blogs.

Truly Fun Day

We try to take advantage of dry weather. We do play in all weather in all seasons but some are easier to play in. Today was one of those days. We started at 730am and although the dogs have had rest times between, they have been exceptionally busy playing.  Here are some of the photos.

Even Adele was out doing some ball play. We did toy, ball and frisbee play and the dogs are having a TOTAL blast of fun!

Very Short Update

Blurry but you get the idea that Teddy and Ella was playing up a storm. I am so busy that I am going to shorten this blog till further notice unless I have someone visiting and I have something fun to share. I want to get my dogs washed and get some down time. Nathan has a show coming up this weekend - gad help me so I have to get the dogs ready for that and hold down the fort. Plus with gals in heat - well I need ear plugs. hahahaha
