I Don't Think So

This is how they say, no, I don't think so. Hey, what are you doing? Moms are the only ones that usually do this.

Tomorrow we do our first deworming. It changes our bowels at first so cleanup is - well messy. We do moms at the same time. We do this so you do not have to do it. Not all pups need it. We have never had worms but we also protect against giardia which is easily picked up from rabbits etc. Dosing 18 pups - oh my and we do this 3 to 4 times. If they are playing out in the yard knowing that we have visiting rabbits, we do an extra dose.

Here's a video of them playing outside and their 1st time upstairs.

Wet Times

We got a little wet. Check out our pool gallery. We didn't seem to mind the water and some actually found it interesting. After all it is 87f in the pool but they minded being out of the pool. We had a bit of whining and shaking as they were cold. We threw some towels down and little by little they dried. They also went to sleep cuddled together. As this is a stressor I find they take an extra long nap after one of these experiences. It's not a bad stress. It's done on purpose to help them build their coping skills. They simply minded being cold.

Here is another gallery of them outside wet and dry and inside dry.

Feeding Frenzy

The moms are feeding the pups less as if they know they need to get them to eat more food than more milk. They still go crazy to see the moms. It's whatever and whomever is in the pen first that gets the frenzy.  It's a crazy mad rush to separate them to the right mom. I try but if they feed from someone else now, it's okay.

Contemplating

What is heat. Where did it come from? Who needs it? I would rather just sleep.

Okay, as the human mom is typing this the pups are eating kibble (Fromms) and esbilac blended up. We like the mousse better but when we are hungry, we eat.

We have a lot of floor space in our pen now and we are sure footed. That's a good thing as that means less laundry. Less equals about 4 to 6 loads a day. heh

Pups are not sleeping through the night yet but that's quite normal at this age. They are sleeping longer especially after an outdoor play. They made it to 5.5 hours but norm is 4 plus hours. It depends on how active they are. Starting next week they will have 2 outdoor sessions and perhaps 1 indoors. That will get the sleep to be longer. I may be able to get something accomplished during nap time. I am not complaining. These are good pups. It's just work multiplied.

Fun is Had

We are eating well. Today we mixed mousse with softened kibble. They didn't eat it as fast as the straight mousse but they did eat it.

I do believe we are still on track for upstairs on Friday. We shall see.

They are also walking on more floor space.

4 Weeks Old

Here's a gallery of them outdoors.

The outdoor fun is getting to be quite the norm. Nathan is sick so he was a bit of a comedy star in the video calling gals boys and more so smile. Just know he is sick and I sort of know them better at this stage.

27 Days Old

We are almost 4 weeks. Can you imagine that! It's actually amazing that we arrived at almost 4 weeks now. Pups are getting around pretty good now. They do climb into and out of the beds. They make the pad some of the time. Sometime they don't make it all the way but they try. Progress.

Check out the Spice blog to see how the crew did outside today.

26 Days Old

2 days short of 4 weeks. We are going to try food outside today after Dennis gets up. This way I can film and Nathan can help. Though he is feeling rather bad at the moment.

Our pool dropped 10 degrees last night so doubt I will swim today. Won't be up to 85 till 6 tonight :-(

25 Days Old

Yes, we are the youngest (3 and a half weeks old) and you can't really tell except Jeannie's are larger. We had our first experience outdoors on the deck. Here is the gallery.

Nathan said they are too young to be outdoors. I said we are going to try.

Nathan's brother and his wife (brother-in-law and sister-in-law to me) came to visit us and I decided to show them the pups. How did they do?

Well Spice's crew said 'tada' we are here! Roxies and Jeannie's sauntered out. They were downright WONDERFUL. We will take them out again tomorrow. I am soooooo impressed!

24 Days Old

Pups are pretty good at walking these days. They went from waddling to now climbing into beds and making their way from one end to the next. I am impressed.

They make me laugh when we climb into the pen with them with all their noises. I really can't tell any differences in capabilities between the litters. It is amazing how the younger ones rose to the older ones. Quite nice!

Here's today's gallery.
