Vet Visit

The crew had no issue travelling to and from the vets. Not a sound from them either way. They were golden. Everyone os healthy.

Here are their weights. Realize we know that Cinnamon's grow fast out of the gate then slow down. Ella's and Saffrons are slow and steady growers but the dark tri boy will be I guess around 14-16lb. Looking back at the growth pattern in that line, I imagine it is pretty accurate.

Cinnamon January 24, 2019 - 8 weeks 5 days old on day of vet visit
Black and white gal 4lb10oz
Black tri boy 6.73
Sable Boy 5.75
Sable girl 4.45

The other boy most likely 12 range and the girls in the 11-12 range. That's my guestimate.

Here is the vet gallery.

Now off to groom and finish blogs after. I have to admit I feel overwhelmed getting so many dogs done before the visit. I have very full days all week but we will get it done. The blogs... well we will do the best we can.

Yes, We Play

Oh boy was this a full day and we still have more play to get on. Tomorrow we will wake up, eat, play and hopefully nap on the way to the vets. It will be a full day and we will not eat lunch tomorrow but will get extra food when we get home. We depart at noon and probably won't be back till 6. It will be a long day for all of us. Then on saturday we have visitors again. How fun us that?

Be sure to check out the videos.

Comforts

This tri boy of Cinnamon always manages to find a lap to lay in. He is a lover. He didn't start out that way. He eventually realized how great it is to be with humans. At first the other pups were #1 attraction. That is because he enjoys fun. The play. But then when he is done you can find him in a deep sleep not moving for so long. Now i find him in this humans lap, or neck all the time. The amount of time Cinnamon spends with this one, it makes me wonder if he is her fave.

Ah but moms can't have faves.

Here is todays 3 crew gallery.

Pups are truly fun to be with. I couldn't think of a better day than to watch their antics.

Look Adventurers

This is our guestroom. It's the place Nathan is stuck in when we have gals in heat or we have extra dog visitors. We also use it as an area for the pups to play in when we have the play upstairs.

We could leave the stairs and not think a thing about it. The moms could go up on the bed to get away from the pups when they were being relentless with wanting to feed even though they haven't for a few days - that is from mom.

Well look who found their way up and guess what, they make it down without an issue.

Be sure to watch the videos.

We seem to have an agile group.

Also be sure to check out the videos.

As you will see in the gallery they are fun, fun, fun. Wait till you see them the next visit.

The Tongues Have It

I have to laugh. The pups sure do have fun at this age. They are so full of joy and happiness. It can be highly contagious.

Here is today's gallery.

I take them up for their morning romp and have a blast with them. Five more days and they head to the vets and 9 more days till the next family visit. It will be great to have Marilyn join us instead of skyping with her. I guess baths are in my plans too on the day before.

Let's see how they do this time around when they know what to expect.

Growing Times

Look at the height on a Cinnamon and Saffron puppy. It's interesting to watch how the growth occurs either slow and steady or right out the gate.

Puppies played with me for 3 hours them crashed. They slept for almost as long as they played.

They were really into the play today. When they start crashing you know it is time to bring them downstairs for some serious zzzzs.

Be sure to watch the videos.

They are truly actively wrestling and playing.

Also check out the gallery on Saffron's blog.

Can I Come Up

The pups are really great at jumping, playing and having plain fun.

Here is the gallery.

I took photos and videos. Some of the videos are pretty darn cute. I spent over 2 hours with them mostly just watching and playing with them. It was a fun day!

It's how I learn and well simply have fun!

Oh the Play

We have such a delicious amount of fun. We are almost now exclusively eating food. We sneak a drink each morning but mom's milk is drying up. They eat food well.

Be sure to check out the videos. I am working on getting them up tonight.

The larger crew is playing with the smaller crew quite nicely these days. They have learned. That is quite a nice thing to learn so there are benefits with meshing crews.

What a beauty of a face looking at you - don't you think?

7 Week Visit

We had the 6 week visit and I sure hope everyone enjoyed themselves. We even managed to Skype Marilyn in. I was juggling but I pulled it together. I know it's not the same as a visit but its better than not.

I had Marilyn on my phone so you can see her in the videos too. Be sure to watch the videos.

I made an ooops. You really have to watch the higher number ones 1st, I think. I just kept uploading so they are so out of sequence. yikes.

It's been a day of juggling. I had Barney going home. I figured out how to connect with Marilyn and I had a bunch of grooming today. We had ice, cold but wet this morning then sleet.

Thank you for cupcakes and flowers! How nice seriously! It really touches my heart.

Bath Time Before Visit

Boy

Girl

Girl

Boy

This crew was the last that I did and they were patient until they realized I was taking all the Saffron pups out and not them. I went in order. Still they were wonderful in the bath.

Here is the bath gallery.

By the time I got to this crew, I was getting mighty tired and still had more adult dogs to do after this. But all took a nap after the bath with Ella's crew waking up first as they were the first done.

They also had a play session before the bath. Here is the gallery.

You are going to LOVE seeing the 3 crew. This is a FUN, FUN crew!

Be sure to check out the videos.

Can you believe we are 7 weeks old today. How did that happen? Tomorrow they get a bath. I won't be doing individual shots. I am going to wash them in groups but I will get photos of that and when they are try, I will get a dry photo. How's that?

Be sure to check out the videos.

1 Day Short of 7 Weeks

The vet appt is set for the 26th.

Today, Christine dropped off Clarity and Farley and stayed a bit to help socialize the pups. I clicked photos and took video. LOL

Here is the gallery.

Pups are all very social. We had one puppy that felt I was the bees knees. Oh my gad my late mom's term she used to use. But you get what I mean. But today I bet you that Christine would not be able to tell who it was. I was an after thought. Maybe it was that I was sitting on the stairs or that I had a camera in my face. You see that is why some times I like to not have a camera. It's hard to click and take video and be able to interact. I do it but its not easy.

Pups have had a few play sessions today. Soon they will have another before bed.

We have been sleeping in since the time change. It's not on purpose. We slept till 715am this morning and why did we wake up? The pups were telling us it is time to get up and they serenaded us at 715am. LOL

Be sure to check out the videos.

Can You Click Me?

What a poser this pup is. LOL

Pups are heading upstairs as I type. I am tired. I am going to have dogs lay on mr while I watch the Good Doctor Finale. Dennis is going to run with the pups. Will they get tired? Yep!

Be sure to check out the gallery on the Saffron blog.

I am starting to upload videos now. Beauty of the ipad you watch tv and upload with a half of a headphone on you.

6 Weeks 4 Days Old

This means this crew will be 7 weeks old when the family visit occurs but the Saffron crew will be 6 weeks. I do believe they are ready for prime time so to speak.

Here is the gallery from today from the 3 crew. It's a very small gallery as its been a very busy day.

The Moms

The moms are truly trying to wean their pups. They are still feeding 3 times a day. They are so trying for 2 times a day. Why is this process important? When the pups get that moms are for learning and playing, magic happens. They need to be able to look past that moms are milk stations. We watch the process all of the time and those that do not get weaned before departing do not have as much critical learning by mom. She teaches how to play. She teaches bite inhibition. She helps them build their coping skills. She even teaches and helps them with dog communication.

But she needs to be able to do that without them descending on her like locusts feeding.

I used to think that if they fed till they departed then mothers love would be solidified. But that's not true. It is solidified much earlier than that. Teaching is a bonding and valuable stage that needs to be given the opportunity to each. So, we feed solids around 4 weeks to help the opportunities for moms to concentrate on teaching.

Then there is passive immunities that have to be considered.

When a puppy is born, it receives passive immunity from its mother in the form of maternal antibodies. Maternal antibodies protect the newborn from the diseases against which the mother was protected. Maternal antibodies only last a few weeks in the puppy; this duration is directly proportional to the level of immunity the mother has. If her immunity level against rabies, for example, is very high, the maternal antibodies for rabies may last up to three months. If her level is low, they may persist only five or six weeks. As long as they are present, the puppy is passively protected; however, those antibodies also block a vaccine challenge. If a puppy receives a vaccination for rabies before the maternal rabies antibodies are gone, the vaccine's effect is blocked, and no immunity develops. The same holds true for the other components of the vaccines; temporary immunity received from the mother can interfere with all of the vaccinations.

It is impossible to know when passive paternal immunities wane. So, we wean instead of pups feeding still as they depart to their new homes. Mother's know best. There are ways to stay close and enjoy moms without feeding. There is value in learning, teaching and excelling.

This transition from feeding every 2 hours to not is important slow process to independence.

The transition to no moms at night also fosters a sense of independence. It helps them build their coping skills. All critical to help them to be all they are meant to be.

Be sure to check out Ella's blog for the gallery.

Don't forget to check out the videos.

Changing Looks

As the pups get older, they seem to be changing in looks. They are still puppies but are getting older.

This week - on Friday, I try to figure out how I wash 11 pups and 3 moms. Laugh with me, will you. I think I will have to wait till the next visit to do individual shots. I was trying to do the math and each pup is 15 to 20 minutes. On the low end that is 165 minutes. On the high end that is 220 minutes. Then I have 3 moms. I think I will be washing the 3 moms on Thursday and the pups on Friday.  Then we have the visit on Saturday. I promise the next visit I will do individuals. I know you enjoy them so.  With March Break and all, well super human I am not. They will still smell great. I will get group shots. I will probably do 3 or 4 pups at once then put them in the crate to dry. When all pups are done, I will start on the first group, comb, brush, do pads, nails and keep on going. I may find time for dry photos.

We shall see...

Be sure to watch the videos.

Today

The pups have already been out. I am not sure if we will have much of a gallery today. You can see a mini one of the 3 crew in Saffron's blog. We shall see if Nathan or Dennis click any more.

But I am off for the day and when I return, I will be immediately grooming.

Here's looking at us or me or.... What a snuggly bunch indeed!

Cinnamon Crew

It is hard to tell the Cinnamon sables apart though one is a girl and one is a boy. The girl is smaller than the boy.

They live for the play upstairs. The family to be are going to love the 3 crew!

The gang has been out 3 times today. They are doing REALLY well upstairs without the moms. The moms gets very excited to see them come morning.

Be sure to check out the videos.
