6 Weeks Old

If I did the math properly they are 6 weeks today. I am rather sick at the moment so I could be off. Blogs will be short.

Here is a gallery

Pups are getting really good at eating and hitting the pad. They can be rather endearing.

If I feel like this tomorrow, blogs will be short again.

Togetherness: Almost 6 Weeks

The Roxie pups are getting better at fending off the Adele puppies play. Perhaps we can start putting them together soon. We shall see.

Pups have a mouthful of teeth these days. They can't hop out of their xpen yet like the Adele pups but they try. They are now out several times a day. They are also eating food rather well but still eat from mom about 4 times a day.

Here's a funny factoid. We start at 8pm to create food, clean pens, clean water dishes (we have 1 in each room that is freshened many times a day), clean dog dishes, do laundry, take dogs out, feed moms, moms feed pups and we get into bed by 1030-11pm.

Dogs are doing well eating unsoftened kibble now. Here's a gallery.

Crazy Day But Fun

Here is a link to some play this morning.

The crew - both litter really adapted to the crates and sherpa bags easily. Sometimes it takes a bit but this crew seems to love them for sleep etc. That's not to say they won't love it if you invite them on your bed like ours get to do.

Here are a couple of videos.

Mommy Rox and Play Time

On the Pad
This is after all night by themselves. They used the pad but no where else. Good ones, little ones.

Pups are doing really well. We had them playing all over and we are starting to add an adult dog here and there. But its been a truly insane day that hasn't stopped. You woudl think I was going away. heh

So understand I do what I can.

First Visit

See this animal pillow? If you can find one, get it. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Roxie's pups came out first and was the first to crash. Check out the video

The dad of the Roxie litter is Envy R-U-N-V-S. He was born here and was our breeding. He lives with Paula and will be at the national specialty and so will Adele's beau, Newton in case you want to see the daddy of your pups. Newton is owned and loved by Tracy and came from a breeder in the states. You will like both males.

The pups slept approximately 4 hours after the visit. They did rather well considering that they are only 5.5 weeks old. That half of a week to 6 weeks makes a difference but these pups are having to keep up with the older ones and will be a bonus in the end. Nothing like trying to keep up and perfecting your skills.

I do believe they enjoyed themselves. I hope you did too!

Outside

Pups are getting much better at holding their own with the Adele crew. I figure one more week and they will be all together and going upstairs together. The Roxie pups actually stopped slipping faster but they are smaller. Only 1 is almost the same size as Adele's. By 8 weeks they will be even closer in size.

The pups had a blast outside but they did get cold faster than Adele's pups. Why? Size. They have less body fat but that will change. 8 days does make a difference. Next visit you will go wow they are both equal in capabilities. It just happens.

We now have an appt for the vets - September 30th. Rox's pups will be 7.5 and Adele's 8.5.

Here is a gallery from outside.

Pups have LOTS of teeth. They have adjusted to no mom at night very well. They both seem to settle in and sleep most of the night and this is young for that. Of course we do have trhem play just before bedtime so they get tuckered out.

Here are some videos to get you by.

Doing Well

Pups are now 5 weeks old and are doing really well. You are going to love them. Here's a gallery of the 2 litters taken today.

Roxie is still feeding her pups, loving them up and making sure they are okay but both moms are giving them some independence. This is good. They need to start the journey of learning but not being so reliant on mom. This began with the no mom at night. Both moms have adjusted and now know the drill. They feed them just before bedtime and first thing in the morning.

It's rather hectic around here first thing as pups need food ASAP. :-) They are starting to eat more and output is more. As they adjust output gets less. Crazy, eh?

First Bath

This boy, along with his sibling has colour to the roots but will also have apricot mixed in. There is one larger boy and the other 3 are on the small end. I suspect the larger will be Roxie's size and the rest slightly smaller. None in the 2 litters will be oversized.

How did they do on their first bath? I actually believe I had the 2 best litters yet for their first bath and that's not an understatement. No signs of stress. No sounds at all and they were inquisitive.

Here is a gallery. The black and white one is a massive snuggler. Oh my gad and those eyebrows. All allow me to place them on their back and play with them and even brush them.

No videos today. I will play catchup tomorrow.

I have an all day seminar on Saturday so I will try my best to share something with you daily. That's all I can do.

New Fun Toy

It may look like a toy and it is but this is also a conditioning experience to noise and texture. I see this used on larger dogs mostly but I decided to expose them to this. I am always looking at ways to condition them and give them a better start in life. I expected the Roxie pups to be a bit too young for it and be a bit leery about it but they embraced it. The adults were hesitant around it till they saw the pups playing with it. Now who is teaching whom?

I find this all so fascinating. I also have video but will have to share it later as its on the GoPro and no time to pull it off and put it together to upload. I will get to it.

I also last night before bed took out only the Roxie pups. Here's a gallery of that. They are starting to keep up with the Adele pups. Today they were better or maybe it was Adele's that were better. Here is a gallery of this new activity toy with both litters.

Now I have 9 puppies and 2 moms to wash before the get together. I do this more for conditioning than anything else. They are rather clean. But as that is a lot of dogs to do, I may start with 1 litter tomorrow and the other litter on Friday. We shall see. I also have a lot on my plate so I am trying to figure it out.

Nathan is actually sitting watching tv wondering when I can but here I am doing a blog or 2 or three. :-)

First Night Without Mom

Here's a gallery of both litters playing in the hallway today.

I am zonked. Okay, how did it go? As far as I could see the Roxie pups slept most of the night and was over the moon to see mom. I kept checking on them as why not. Adele kept me up ALL NIGHT as she wanted to be with her pups. Roxie knew the drill and has not been like that since her first litter. She knows this is a process but you could tell she was listening for them. I have the tablet in so I can watch. I can also hear. They perk up when they hear them. But they trust me to take care of them and the pups.

I grow deeper in love with my moms every day!
