3 Weeks Old: A Delay

Here is the gallery.

Although it is 3 weeks and usually I like to take them out of their whelping box at 3 weeks or whenever they attempt to climb out - we are going to delay till tomorrow.

We simply don't have the time to invest in such a milestone till tomorrow. We had a Sage puppy depart and we had a Nami pup come to visit and yes, I had grooming to do. So, we arrive at doing the change sometime tomorrow.

The pups are starting to get interesting. They cuddle with feet on the back of a sibling. We had one move a  sibling off one sibling so they could have a pillow. I watched this with interest. No, he's my pillow. They are making noises now. They have no qualms calling mom to eat. Sometimes she ignores so they can go back to sleep. She knows when the milk stations are empty. Sometimes she comes to make sure they are okay. She knows the meaning of the cries as they are different. She reminds me of our late Risa with pups. Don't get me wrong, she is super attentive but if they are supposed to be sleeping and she fed them 10 minutes ago, she more or less tells them it's time for a nap. Even at 3 weeks she is trying to not create habits you can't easily break.

20 Days Old

Here is the gallery. Just added more photos to the gallery - same link. Cinnamon had a bath today.

I know, I keep saying it - soon they will be out of their whelping box. I may wait till Monday when I have more time. We shall see. That is only 2 days away.

They are starting to truly interact. They are curious but that window of staying awake is still small which is usual at this age. They sleep. They grow so sleep is a good thing.

When they go intol the xpen, they have more room to move around and practice their walking. It is a double edge sword as the further they get away from mom, the more they have to expel energy to get to her. That means less weight gains till they are really mobile. Of course when we see one far away, we do help them get to their destination.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

2 Days Shy of 3 Weeks Old

Here is the gallery.

They are attempting to walk. They make noises to call mom. They look at me with eyes of wonder. What are you? Every now and then I catch their activity on video. It's a hit and miss. I do not sit and watch and wait. Sometimes I am doing laundry and I look at my screen and they are interacting so I stop everything to catch it on video - just a few minutes away and then they are asleep. They do sleep more at this stage than are awake. Sleep helps them grow. Soon that time will extend. They are growing well.

I am procrastinating about taking them out of their whelping box. When I do that, they have more room but they also have an issue finding mom and I also have more laundry. I usually wait till 3 weeks and that is in 2 days. We shall see.

Between 3 and 4 weeks you will see many changes in them. It's going to be fun!

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

18 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

I received a note on why am I not doing exciting videos on the Cinnamon pups.  If you are looking for action, you have a half of a week to a full week to wait and I suggest you enjoy what this stage brings.

The day of interaction, walking etc will come.

Next stage will be out of the whelping box. They will have the opportunity of more room to practice walking and playing. That day will come.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

16 Days and Weights

Here is the gallery.

1st Born gal black and white 1lb 5/8oz

2nd born boy white spot on chest 1lb 2-1/8oz

3rd born girl with white spot on chest 1lb 1-6/8oz

4th born boy dark white chin 1lb 4-1/8oz

5th born girl 2 white back paws white chin 1lb 1/2oz

6th born boy white back feet white blaze streak on chest 15-6/8oz

7th born gal dark sable front legs 2 tips back 14-2/8oz

All have reached the 1 pound range but 2. They are all gaining nicely. They are alert. They are more vocal with eyes open as they tell mom they are hungry. By 3 weeks - 5 more days, they should be out of their whelping box. It gives them more room to be mobile and will allow them to look around at the world. All this is a bonus to their development.

The pups have been consistently gaining weight. Mom is proud and eats a TON to feed 7.

Two Weeks Old

Here is the gallery.

What differences do I see now that their eyes and ears are open? They are more vocal and they are looking around. They want to know where they are, it seems. It usually takes 3 to 4 days for their eyes to go from blurry to clear and then they start rudimentary interaction. By 3 weeks they are usually out of their whelping box looking around and playing with each other and toys. This is the accellerated timeframe as each day is new. Come 4 weeks they are walking and eating food and coming out of ther xpen.

It is starting to be the time of changes.

I can't wait. Can you?

Day 13: 2 Blog Day

Here is the gallery.

Cinnamon pups will be 2 weeks old tomorrow night. How did the time ever pass?

We are now just waiting for 1 boy to open his eyes. 6 of them has embraced their surroundings. I have a feeling it will be tonight or tomorrow. If it is tonight, I will have to attach his photo to the blog below.

Cinnamon is one of the happiest moms I ever known. Her entire body wriggles with excitement with people and with her pups. It is so nice to see. Yes, all my moms are great but we were not expecting Cinnamon to have pups any longer and well she just wanted to be a mom and she is a great one.

Her pups are sparking clean. She is attentive and never complains. Of course we indulge her every chance we get. When I hold her pups she is ever so proud. It makes me smile.

Tomorrow 2 weeks old. How did that happen?

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

Day 12 Tonight

Here is the gallery.

I believe I see another one with their eyes open but we will take photos tonight. It was looking around and viewing its surroundings. How nice is that?

We are now weighing only once a day vs twice a day as they have had consistent weight gains. It is also when we really look at eyes and who has decided to open theirs.

Cinnamon is getting spoiled. I need to add duck treats or dehydrated chicken breasts or something to her meal and then she will eat. It is typical of the moms. It is the only time they can play that game. With 7 pups, she eats 24/7. It's about 6 to 8 times a day - seriously. It is important that moms get plenty of food so they can produce enough milk. She's doing well. Her pups are doing well.

We do have a few sleeping on their backs at times. It means they are comfortable in their environment.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

2nd to Have Eyes Open: Day 10 Gal

Here is the gallery.

This is the 2nd pup to have the eyes open. This is a girl. The 1st was last night. This one this morning. When will the others open their eyes?

Eyes open mean in a few days after the blurriness goes they will be aware of their surroundings. This will start the interaction between siblings.

Two Blog Night: Eyes Open Already

9 Days Old Tonight

Here is the gallery.

This photo makes me think of - I ate the whole thing.

Pups are doing well. They are gaining. I actually see very fine slits on their eyes. It will be at least a few days but I am excited about the eyes opening. Aren't you?

Getting hard for everyone to fit, May have to stand up soon for feedings, Cinnamon.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

8 Days Tonight

Belly up lol

Here is the gallery.

The next milestone will be trying to get up on their legs and eyes opening. It is something to look forward to.

As they get really comfortable in their environment, they sleep belly up more and more.

One of the blacks has deep brown bleeding through.

Cinnamon is on a top my food with steak now, please. One day she won't want the steak and it will be something else. Feeding moms can be interesting.

Watching them yawn and stretch is fascinating to me.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.
