Hosting and All

This gal is a riot. You can often find her on one foot jumping, leaping through the air. She makes me laugh and laugh.

This photo was taken early in the morning. Moms have had their baths and I am mighty tired. But they have had 3 huge play sessions thus far. One was outside and 2 indoors and they will have another before bedtime. They have a big day tomorrow as they are the hosts. They just don't know it yet.

Check out some of their play today.

Roxie is completely without milk so she has weaned even though on a real rare occassion she allows them to dream and think they are getting something. The pups are growing up and in less than 2 weeks they will start departing to their new homes. Oh my. Then I get to tackle my to do list. Maybe I will learn my camera for real. Maybe I will get my doors sanded and stained and the pool house door replaced ...maybe...maybe....maybe...

Pup Update

Pups are doing so well. They tried Spice's food which Spice didn't eat. She is trying to fully wean too. They ate hard food without issue. Now to watch their output to see if any issues. I will continue the half soft, half hard till we get enough output to access it. So far, so good.

I expected tired due to shots today but I am not seeing it. They have been outside for hours, inside for hours playing. Most of the pups have a full mouth of teeth where the odd one not yet. At 8 weeks we try the transition to hard so they can go home to you without softening but if they have their teeth come in late we still require soft food. It is not the case with this crew.

Spice had hard kibble, 2 variety of cheeses and chicken. They ate it with gusto.

It looks like it will be a decent weather on Saturday so we are going to do the visits outdoors. You will enjoy it more as you will see more active play and fun. Sunday we rest. :-)

Pile Up

Pups are all healthy, injected and survived. They were all wonderful!

When we take them to the vets it is a big production. I start the day before getting crates ready, supplies ready in case we have any that get car sick or have accidents. No one had any issues in any of the three litters.

So, all the preparation in case they did have issues was for nothing? You never know. You can get into a stop and go and create issues and you can't tell if you are going to have that sort of traffic till you are on your way so it is best to be prepared.

We had smooth sailing though it was snowing from Port Hope on to Colborne and the same in return?

Funny I was car sick as I hadn't eaten all day. I was too busy.

We don't take moms with us - we used to. Why? When the pups cry when they get injected the moms really, really get stressed. So we have learned to leave them at home with Dennis.

When the moms saw the pups they were out of their minds delighted.

Now the pups are out of their pen after eating heartily and playing up a storm. Me, I am awfully tired and always am after this.

Can't believe a visit in 3 days. Hoping no one is sore tomorrow!

Reflections

This little gal of Roxie's is a riot. Is that another dog in that reflection. Come play with me - will ya? The pups had a lot of practice going up and down the stairs then played in the kitchen.

I am busy getting everything ready for tomorrow. It's a big day tomorrow and tomorrow comes soon.

Momma Hood

Roxie reminds me daily that she loves, loves, loves the pups. The 3 mother's are pretty amazing and I truly mean that. They are so special!

Can you get the toy, little one?

Ah the moments captured - priceless.

Check for a video I took today on Panda's blog in a bit.

Cheeky Fun Moment

Yes, she plays with the other 2 as well but we just happened to catch this moment. It was a sweet one!

Roxie has weaned her pups. No more milk at the milk bar but hers are the oldest with the exception of the Spice pup. They are old enough across the board.

Play, Play, Play

Now that the moms are feeding less and they are - 3 feedings today is all they will have from moms. We continue to reduce their feedings and they are getting more and more food. By the time they are on food only they will be eating aprox 3/4 cups a day. Of course that is multiplied by 12. Our food disappears fast at this stage with so many.

They are also not eating at night and therefore making the transition to sleeping all night and being mighty hungry come morning.

Pups are outdoors again before the rain hits and it is coming. The wind is blowing everything around. Nathan swept the deck before this round and in minutes seeds and sticks and what have you are all over. You can't win.

The pups really relish the outside. They are having so much fun and its good for them. The longer they are outside the longer they sleep after eating. Exercise equals sleep much like it does with us.

With the rain coming they will have their last play session indoors. Hoping for sun tomorrow!
