Pup and the Toy

I do not pose the dogs. I catch them in the natural positions they put themselves in. Soon we will have to take them out of their whelping box. They are starting to need the room.

They seem to spread all over and at other times snuggled in close. Sometimes I just stand and watch them sleep - just because.

Snuggles and Play

Here is the gallery.

Alanza does like to snuggle with her littermates but sometimes they use her as a pillow and I try to manuever them so they do not. That's okay. The benefit that each of the pups get from touch and interaction is important. I can't believe I am 45 minutes away from feeding Alanza and then I am going to try to set an alarm (2) and try to get shut eye in a recliner. We will see how that goes.

We do photos, videos, laundry, setting up dishes, feeding, cleaning and on and on during the night. I get up from sleeping and I do not have downtime. I just go and go. It is a crazy existence but the pups are so worth it.

The Sage Crew

Pups are doing well. They are truly starting to interact. The littlest one is continue to grow slow and steady. We may try the littlest on food in a day or two to see how her body handles it - just a bit to start. It will be a way to extend feedings beyond the every 2 hours. 

They do love to snuggle and get excited to see you.

Getting Active

Here is the gallery.

The pups are starting to get active. Even the littlest one is found in one spot and then clear across the whelping box. Sometimes they are all separate and other times they are all cuddled together. I am still doing the every 2 hour feedings and up all night. Nathan does the few feedings when I am asleep. I am thankful not doing this alone. I can't remember the last time I did something just for the fun of it or even just to play with one of my machines. We do what we have to.

The most precocious of the bunch so far is the dark one. What a growing concern but things change as they get older so we shall see how it all unfolds.

Interactions

Here is the gallery.

More times than not Alanza prefers to be with her littermates. That is a good sign. I am still feeding every 2 hours. She is now at 6ml up from 2.5 when we started this every 2 hours. She tries to eat too fast so we stop at times. 

The other siblings are doing well. They are interacting. They are fascinating to watch.

20 Days Old

I am very tired today so the blogs will be short. My apologies. I have groomings to do when I wake up so I will get extra videos and photos done as I can.

Everyone is gaining weight. They are still eating every 2 hours. They are becoming active. It is fun to see.

The dark one that looks black climbed out of the whelping box. If this continues, the whelping box will have to go.

19 Days

Here is the gallery.

I am still doing feedings every 2 hours. Nathan takes over when I sleep. My sleep is all messed up honestly.

Pups are starting to interact. I look forward when Alanza can eat every 3 hours vs 2. We are not there yet. 

They are so cute to watch. Never had pups younger than more than 2 weeks. The norm in litters is 1 week apart, for us.

It is a lot of work this way and add Alanza - even more so but at the end of the day we reap our efforts hopefully.

18 Days: Where There is a Will

Here is the gallery.

As you can see, there is a puppy coming over the back to eat. I had to add 2 more pups to the milkstations but had to grab this photo. I thought it was a determined puppy.

Pups are all gaining. Mom is a wonderful mom. 

I am about to go to sleep in 45 minutes or so and this is our anniversary so I want to get everything done earlier that can be done. I will still be adding videos and photos to the gallery. We shall see how much I get done.

17 Days Old

As you can see I do blogs at strange hours. I feed every 2 hours. It means by the time I am done, it is 10 minutes to bottle feed and it takes me 10 minutes to prepare. I have this 1 hour and 40 minutes to blog and do all the rest - photos, videos etc. 

It is now 419am and my next feeding is at 530. Then I will crawl into bed at 7amish.

Pups are doing well. They are all gaining. They are all beautiful.

16 Days

Here is the gallery.

The house is quiet. I am about to feed in 20 minutes. I try to do blogs when I can. I go to sleep at 730am and get 5 hours of sleep. It is a crazy process but when you bring lives into this world, you will do what you need to. My body is so messed up. 

The pups are doing well. They are starting to interact. They are all spread out or on top of each other. Temperature is regulated in the whelping box. They are wonderful beings!
