5 Weeks and a Day

Its so interesting watching the age difference with Jeannie and Spice pups. There is a significant difference in size between Spice's littlest one and the Jeannie pups but not so much different from some of Spice's larger ones. Last week Spices were hovering up against each other at 3 weeks and Jeannie's was adventurous souls at 4 weeks. Now at 4 and 5 weeks they are both adventurous but capabilities are different. Jeannie's has had a week of developing their skills. Still, in the few weeks before they go home they will be similar in capabilities.

My routine is to make sure the pups eat off mom then I put some mousse and today I put some ground up kibble and a sprinkle of chicken just for the Jeannie's pups. Spices pups got mousse too.

Their bowels are changing with the introduction of food. Their systems are adjusting nicely. They are sleeping longer.

If I have the audacity to have Spice's pups out eating then the Jeannie pups let me know with low whimpers.

Jeannie's pups now have a water dish in their pen and we will start adding the ground kibble to their pen at night so they know they have food available at night till their tummies get large enough to not have food at night. We eliminate the night feeding before they go home. The goal is to get them sleeping all night long.

Issue is Jeannie ate most of the last batch I created. Dennis may have to leave the gate closed till feeding time as our goal is to eliminate the need for mom at night in the next couple of days for the Jeannie crew. They will be going upstairs without mom but we will be able to watch them and certainly hear them.

Some of the Jeannie crew are attempting to maul the Spice crew so I am purposely taking all 10 out to feed together at least twice a day. The last feeding they did well as 10. But I didn't videotape as I was spending time watching. No one attempted to maul anyone. Even with Jeannie's crew going upstairs at night Dennis will still have an additional week with Spices and hopefully by then they will also be upstairs and Dennis' night watch comes to an end.

Jeannie's pups will have a bath this Friday as they have a puppy visit. Spices will not till the next week.

Wow life is changing. I have to admit Dennis would love to be in his bed and I don't blame him. One more week and a couple of days and he should be.

Small Blog

Here's a video. It's a tired day but the pups are having a blast with each other. No issue with trying to food but they are not interested yet. We will keep trying. No issue with littlest gal of Spice that also tried it. Guess they like moms milk more.

Not Ready Yet

They tried food for the first time. I won't know how they reacted to it till tomorrow. It usually takes 12 to 24 hours to see how it affects their stools etc. But as Nathan said they are not ready for prime time with food. They spent more time walking in it vs. eating.

Check out the videos.

Just the Right Time to Begin

Usually we do not take the pups out till closer to 5 weeks but 4 weeks is a great start to exposures with weather this good. They are ready. What a difference 8 days is in this timeframe.

Roxie was checking out Jeannie's pups and Jeannie didn't mind. Here's a gallery.

Nathan had fun testing to see if they would chase him. Here's the result. Watch their tails. They are starting to go up and over now.

I tested the pups with a teether toy. Only Creamy was interested at this stage so I captured him. I imagine the others will play with toys soon. He's just an adventurous one.

Changes

I am a little frustrated - no a lot. It's the next day and I can't get many videos uploaded especially one I really wanted up here. I will keep trying. Here is a gallery. As you noticed they have floor exposed. They are getting used to the slippery floor and this is the video I really wanted you to see. We will keep trying.

Pups are adjusting. More later....

Ooops some are making it...

Just a Few Photos

Having another issue with uploads and well, I wasted my day away.

Tomorrow I am going to expose one square of linoleum to get the dogs used to the slippage. The goal is to eventually leave one section with comfie beds/blankets and the rest flooring. Starting Monday they will have regular outside and kitchen play as they will soon have their 6 week visit and maybe I will know this gopro by then. hahaha

Pups are doing good doing their business on the pad but they do have accidents. I am doing laundry constantly. You don't want to get them used to that so they must have dry. less blankets will eventually make movement easier. This way they can get to the pad on time. They do head that way.

Here is a couple of videos. I will add more if they ever upload. Creamy jumping at the gopro is funny.

First Outdoor on Ground

Remember these pups are 4 weeks old tonight and have been on a sight seeing tour for a week where Spice's are almost 8 days younger. See what a week does? There is a HUGE difference between 3 weeks and 4 weeks and a huge difference between 6 and 8 or 9 weeks. At 6 weeks they are playing. at 8 weeks they are running.

Here is today's videos of their outdoor adventure which I call a success. It means all those walk abouts plus their ability to walk well has made it a really great adventure. But Creamy is rather amazing.
