They indeed like to interact with you. They make squeakie noises to try to engage you in play.
I caught the dark chocolate girl sauntering over to the pad to urinate. What a good girl all by herself!
Probably around labor day or the next day we will start exposing them to outside. We may do it earlier but it is crazy busy. We shall see. I hope the month of September stays very warm. Is that asking for too much?
The pups are 3 weeks old today. It is hard to believe that we were scrambling to get ready for these beauties.
Leti had her first bath since the pups were born. I do spot cleaning and combing out but not a full bath till now. I usually wait till she can be away for 90 plus minutes. The pups are now sleeping for at least 2 hours. Sometimes they are sleeping for 3 hours.
I brought her back clean. They got excited then sniffed her up. Usually you do not see the sniffing. This crew really ises their noses. It is a riot.
Here are their weights:
1st born red sable gal is 1lb 6-7/8oz
2nd born black and white tri boy 1lb 8-3/8oz
3rd born sable boy 1lb 5-7/8 oz
4th born chocolate girl 1lb 4-7/8oz
5th born sable girl 1lb 6-2/8oz
6th born lightest boy - chocolate 1lb 5-7/8oz
They have not had a strange with you moment. They seem to be fascinated and quite playful. They are finding toy play and play with each other to be a part of their day.
Over the past few days they do look out of the pen and look for mom. When they see her she goes and says hello. It is endearing.
The pups are turning 3 weeks tomorrow. they are really something special. I just love that they love when I play with them. they are so social.
I only got to do a few videos as I was extremely busy today. Tomorrow is a new day!
Puppies are pretty amazing. They are lively. they are super friendly. They are rather good on their legs considering their age. They are are ahead of the development curve. It is fascinating to watch such tiny pups walk around.
Can't wait till we can take them outside.
Usually this happens at 3 plus weeks but these darlings needed to be out of the whelping box. You see during the night one escaped and then this morning 2 others escaped so that was it. LOL
How did they adjust? as if they were placed in heaven. It is a riot. they are walking around - these tiny things and exploring. They also love the soft nooks and crannies.
I get into the pen and they wag their tails to see me. No fear. All positive reaction. they are also enjoying looking out at everything.
Sorry so late tonight. We have some escape artists that are pretty good at escaping. They are not old enough for that. Nathan thought I was crazy but we come into class seeing one out and then we watched as they climbed out. Didn't get the climb out on photos as I had the camera at the door in the bag we used for class.
This blog is going to be short but be sure to check out the videos at how active they are. It is a riot!!
The chocolate gal was the last one to open her eyes. She is also the smallest of the crew. Everyone is over a pound and she is 15-7/8oz. What I noticed about her is she is shorter in body but just as round.
Pups are indeed giving me kisses, walking around and engaging with each other. It is amazing. they are so young and such an interesting crew.
Be sure to check out the videos. You will love seeing the play!
This boy is also a chocolate. He has brown pads. He was the 4th to open his eyes. One remains with eyes closed - the chocolate girl.
This gal is the 5th to open her eyes.
As Nathan was away, I had to get our son Jon to hold them as Dennis was feverishly trying to cover the gazebo.
Pups are very active when awake with short bursts and then they eat and sleep. They are really relaxed in my hands. Sometimes when their eyes open up at first they are confused. These pups are so relaxed.
The boy was the 1st to open his eyes. This is our freezer as a background. I rather like it. I may have to get a steel background to take photos. LOL Nathan was hogging this puppy so he sees that it him who is here for them.
I was also playing with the lighting when taking photos. Some are true colours and some are a bit washed out.
The girl was the 2nd to have her eyes open. Everyone else is completely closed or they have slits. She looks rather intense. It's as if she is saying - really?
This is the 3rd one - a boy with his eyes open. He is the largest of teh crew but no by much. If I hear nathan say again - I am your daddy... I am the 1st human you see, I will swat him one.
The pups are now in a spot where Ali and Sky was in and their pen is taken down. More on the main page on how that is going and look for updates on Cinnamon and Ella's page.
These pups are walking around for short distances. They are also unfortunately holding on to the milkstation and sometimes taking a ride out of the box. I am going to put more padding out as I do not want to take them out of the whelping box yet.
2 of them are now over a pound. The smallest is just below 14oz sitting at 13-7/8oz.
I have caught them playing with each other despite their eyes being closed. How fascinating.
Exciting times are coming!
