2 Weeks 3 Days Old: The Fun Begins

They are only 2 weeks and 3 days old and they are playing and giving me kisses and hey that first born even looks to play with me.

I usually wait till 3 weeks for all this fun but hey I got a treat today. I need one as I am the dematting queen this weekend. :-( I hate dematting and this is an Aleve time for sure.

There are a few really fun ones and you will see how all of a sudden they graduated from eating and sleeping to much more. 

Dennis wanted to put them in an xpen without the whelping box but we usually do not do this till 3 weeks old. I said let's wait till they try to climb out. I wonder if they will be early with that.

2 Weeks 2 Days Old

Nathan took 2 of the pups out to the front door so someone could get a look - no touch at this point. They were picking up Mabel and Velvet - so bonus for them. Pups were mighty relaxed.

They eat, they sleep and they attempt interactions. They are great in my hands. I think they like my snuggles and kisses.

2 Weeks 1 Day Old

They are starting to interact with each other in the most rudimentary way but it is starting. They are also trying to stand on their legs and when that doesn't work they squirm. We have some that like pillow comfort and others that like the belly up sleep stance. It's all so fascinating to me but probably boring to you as it seems to be moving at a snail pace but if you pay attention they are changing daily.

Weight gains are great. They had a startle moment when their eyes opened and squirmed in my hands. They are back to being relaxed. Usually it takes a bit longer but this was quick. You want them to have stressors as that is how they build their coping skills. Throughout their time you expose them to a variety of things. In another week I will start walking them in my arms outdoors. I will do this a couple of times a day.

Two Weeks Old

Boy 5 now has his eyes open.

Boy 2 now has his eyes open.

All the pups are now over 1lb. With eyes opening they are starting to react to each other. As the days go by their interav=ction increases. 

Here is the gallery. I apologize for any blurry photos. I do not have time tonight. I still have to do puppies and my email. 

Did the pups survive without me? It appeared all but 1 lost weight while I was out but then I checked at 7pm and they gained a ton. Was my scale off and here I was going - hey guys - what happened? 

This was their gains in the last 24 hours.

As you can see gains are wonderful. I am a crazy dawg momma who has this idea that they can't do it without me. Of course the guys are capable and it was wonderful for them to carry the load but that nagging voice... are they okay comes to mind and of course they are. 

Pups are aggressive in eating and have created hickies on mom. Poor thing. They love toys to rest their heads on. They are trying to get up on their legs. Way to go boys. What a great bunch you are!

13 Days Old - 1 More Eyes Open

4th born boy has his eyes open. Gallery and any other photos if the last 2 decide to open their eyes too. Till then...

Well the 2 have decided not yet. hehehe

Three are now over 1lb, 2 remain almost at a pound.

12 Days Old: 2 Pups Eyes Open

First born boy has his eyes opening.

Boy born 3rd white chin has his eyes open.

The others could be tonight, tomorrow or 3 days from now. heh. It works that way. But 2 are getting to see the world as it is.

Pup 1 lighter red 15-1/8oz

Creamy white and multi colour  14oz

White chin brown boy 1lb 2oz

Brown and white boy 14-5/8oz

Tan legs reddish brown boy 1lb 1-4/8oz

Creamy white, brown and white and first born are under 1lb and tan legs and white chin are over but they are all relatively close in size.

They are eating well. They are attempting to get up on their legs. That's a wow as they are early to do that. Bravo little ones. 

Roxie still insists on feeding them every 90 minutes. Sometimes if she is tired she will allow them to still sleep. They can go 2 hours. She is such a grea mom!

11 Days Old

Well the pups are 11 days old and 2 are over a pound now. The more creamy white one, 1st red boy, and the brown and white are the smallest but they 13oz and 14.5oz. The lightest red is 14.5 oz too. The other 2 are over a pound. They are experiencing nice gains.

I notice slits on their eyes. I also notice that their legs are starting to get strong as they now try to stand and push off. 

I bought 2 playmats for them so they could be extra comfie. I wanted to give them cushie comfort. They seem to appreciate it. I had to get a gate to replace the one that Nathan fell on and broke. He's okay but it's a miracle he is. In the store they had a closeout on these playmats and I couldn't resist. Comforters only come with bumper pads etc. 

The pups are messing up Roxie's hair no matter what I do. What can you do. Be sure to check out the videos.

When I went out today to get the gates, Roxie was so happy to see me. Don't the havanese give you that sense that you are loved and you are!

10 Days Old

I have never left 10 day old puppies - ever. But they are doing really well and Dennis is really good at handling them. Still, I called twice to see how they were. What a mother hen I am. Dennis seemed frustrated with my calls. Wouldn't you have called?

Everyone gained while I was away. Of course they did. :-) I am so used to being their almost everything. 

But it was good to get out.

I noticed their slits on their eyes are starting to form. I noticed a few trying to get up on their legs (early). Oh, I can't wait for the fun.

I did manage to get a number of videos up despite being out. I had a gap of not being able to record while I was out but I did take some before we departed and when I returned. Be sure to check out the videos.

A couple are just below a pound. They are truly wonderful pups!

9 Days Old

Nine days old and here I am updating later and later. Tomorrow's blog will be slim and very late as I am out tomorrow. Had a lot of grooming and even when pups are doing well, I get so stressed running between groomings. The drawback with watching them on my tablet while I groom.

We did a video on cutting nails. I will try to get it out later tonight. Nathan got christened.  They were wriggly but not so bad for first time. They really needed their nails done. We usually do nails at 2 weeks but these pups were getting nails caught in the blankets so snip we did.

They are finally getting the defined look in their features. 

I tried to do a video showing you each pup but you see I did a poor job at it but I need to learn and set it up where I need to hold the pup so you can see. You can see but well not perfect but still that video is already up.

8 Days Old

Everyone has reached double their weight and then some. By tomorrow we already have to cut their nails. We will be taking photos when we do. How do I know? They get caught in the blankets and you will see in one video Roxie helping a pup get his paw unstuck.

Pups are starting to look like little puppies now. Their faces are becoming more defined.

Puppies are eating about every 2 hours. But sometimes Roxie just wants to clean and love them up. Can you blame her?
