13 Days Eyes Open

This guy is a character. You put him up to you and he gives you kisses. He consistentlt does that. Shall I call him Romeo? Here is the gallery.

This is last born. His pigment on his nose is coming in nicely. There's a little more each day. Right now he is the biggest and LOVES to eat. Here is the gallery.

Eyes Open and 1st Nails: 2 Blogs Today

This is the lone gal and her eyes are open.

This is the 3rd born boy who has spots on his back and he has his eyes open. We now have 3 puppies with eyes open. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

We also did nails today and they were really needed. Here is the gallery of that. I also placed up a video but we had to shut sound off as you will hear at first as we were getting fierce feedback and I need to figure that one out.

Be sure to check out the earlier blog from today below.

12 Days Old

Only one has their eyes open but several more will by tonight.

Here is the gallery.

I am still working on Nathan to do their nails TODAY. :-) When I accomplish that, I will take photos.

I do know the one that has his eyes open is starting to interact already.

You will find videos here.

It usually takes a few days to a week for them to truly start interacting after eyes are open. When they open, for a few days their eyes are blurry. Each day they can see clearer. Their ears also open at this time. That is when big noises will make them jump till they get used to it.

Mom has loose bowels. She is eating all this crazy new food and the pups are therefore loose as they feed from her. I clean the pups and change blankets. I make sure we stay clean but I normally do that. They are not old enough to use a puppy pad. LOL

Pups are now sleeping for a couple of hours at a time which is better than every hour. They are getting older and they are simply wonderful to hold, put on your chest while you watch tv. I do this with each one as I find starting this before opening their eyes gets them used to it and therefore when the eyes open, they put a face and body with that great feeling. This helps them to create memories and learn trust and that humans bring great warm feelings.

Eyes open posts will occur as they open. Stay tuned.

11 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

The pups have slitty eyes. It is hard to explain but they are heading towards opening. It will be a few days but it is coming.

They still sleep a great deal but when awake they are at the stage that they need help. Yes, they can find mom and they are smart but that last 2 getting to the milk bar needs help moving others out of the way. One of them consistently likes to lay sideways and blocks a number of the milk stations. Does it know? I don't think so. I think it just likes the warmth of mom's tummy. Where Sage's pups have lots of milkstations so they can always find a slot. It will be good for Misty when they can also eat solid food but that won't be for another 13 days or so.

Here are the videos. I am uploading a couple of more as I type. I am also congratulating myself for finishing blogging. Still got to help pups. Do laundry, change beddings, weigh but wow much better than yesterday.

10 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

We are going to try to get nails clipped on this crew tomorrow as they are starting to get caught in their blankets. I am also seeing eyes getting ready to open. It may not be for a few days but its going to happen soon. Is that exciting or what?

I did get the videos up earlier today. Dennis is napping. I had a ton to groom so I am way behind. Juggling is interesting.

Ms Misty has spent way too much time telling Sage - hey go back to your babies. Misty steals Sage's food. Sage tries to take care of her babies. It's a riot! It's great to have great moms!

IT'S BEEN A long day for a few reasons so we are short blogging today. I hope you do not mind.

I need to get to the videos.

I find these really soft blankets that feel very soft - this crew cuddles right into it.

Last night a pup stayed latched on to mom and ended up outside of the whelping box. This is the 2nd time. Soon they will be out of the whelping box. Usually it is between 2 and 3 weeks.

Sorry so busy but pups are doing wonderful. Everyone gained nicely. I had a lot of grooming which sets me behind in updating the blogs but I did manage to get the videos up. I will be putting up a few more.

I did notice that they - the pups - are having a tough time fitting so soon we will have to get her to sit up and see if they can reach the top stations. We will figure it out. Or we may have to put her in a bed on her back so they have easy access.

I also noticed that they are starting to interact in small ways.

Pups tell mom, it's time to eat. Hello mom - now. LOL She is attentive but she doesn't run. She listens to her body when she has enough milk. I think she is training them. You can't eat every half hour, you know. LOL

She adores them. She cleans them up, kisses them and then she says - it is time to sleep so I can.

I have yet to get the videos up but will after Sage's blog. It's been a very busy day.

6 Days Old

Here is the gallery. It's day 6 and I am slowly going CRAZY. I actually yelled at the moms today as it was out of control. All last night every time Dennis left the room, the dogs would bark - mostly Misty so they woke us up each and every time till Dennis was afraid to move. Fun - not.

The videos are found here.

Then today each and every movement in the house - door, going to the bathroom, dogs going out Misty barked and barked. I remind you that Dennis is TRYING to sleep. He is up cause he couldn't sleep. He will try again later.

Misty did this last time but she has upped the game and we can't allow her to get away with it or we will be prisoners to not being able to even go to the bathroom. Now that is ridiculous. She's a new mom so she is being protective but it started during Halloween and escalated. I tried refocusing and finally I yelled at her and she stopped and has not done it since. I was so upset with her. But Dennis is already up. Nathan is taking his nap now and she has me stressed out. I don't usually yell but no sleep and bark and bark and bark gets to you when you have people trying to sleep.

Good news Sherry brought bacon bits from Costco and the gals are so happy to have it mixed into their food. It actually works. They were starting to get picky. So thank you!

The pups are all gaining. They crawl all over but often are found behind Misty. So, we give a helping hand. Sometimes they all managed to get to the milkbar.

I was lint rolling the blanket today as Misty is losing hair - Sage too. This always happens after pups are born as everything goes to the milk. It settles down after pups are gone. I have thoughts of just shaving Misty down but I waffle and then just trim. But a lint roller works as you will see in one of the videos. The pups are wonderful. Sometimes when eyes are closed the pups react to you handling them. All 11 just snuggle into you. It's an amazing feeling that I wish you all could experience.

5 Days Old

The pups are gaining about an ounce in a 24 hour period. Their weight gains are wonderful, at this age.

Here is the gallery.

They pretty much, eat, sleep and move around. They can't hear or see at this age. Everything is capable due to their acute sense of smell. Eyes and ears open about the same time. It can happen anytime between 10 and 18 days but I find they open when it is their time. Mist times it is closer to the 3 week mark. They open their eyes and they are blurry and after a few days after that, they are interactive with each other. It's a fun stage but we have time till that occurs.

This is the stage of growth and strength. Momma takes care of all of their needs. Can you believe it is already 5 days? With only a few days between the litters, it will be easy to merge them together.

If covid cooperates, just before Christmas we will have a puppy visit and another 2 weeks later.

Videos can be found here.

4 Days Old

Oh Misty pay attention when they are latched on and you want a treat. 2 was found outsude of the whelping box not hurt but that usual cry mom - where are you. I combed out Misty. I gave her a treat and she fed them. Videos are up. I will continue to update as I can.

Each day, I weigh. I comb out the moms. I clean bottoms and dry if required. Mom's have discharge for 2 to 3 weeks. It's part of teh job abd can be several times a day as you have to keep them clean.

Here is the gallery.

These pups will be 2-1/2 days older if I did the math right. My head is too clouded so you do the math for me. LOL Then post. I am always like this the first few days of a new litter. I think am fogged up and brain cells frozen. I guess that's what tired is but coffee is my pal. I did get a better sleep last night. But as you see with the timestamps on the videos, I am awake and not throughout the night. It's called new mom syndrome - checking on the babies.

Is it Day 2?

I am losing days - quite literally. LOL

Here is the gallery.

The larger pups are gaining slower than the smaller pups. Maybe they will all average out soon. They are all gaining. Usually they lose a bit at first. The smallest is now 5-7/8oz and the largest (2 of them are now 8-7/8oz.

All are doing well. Dennis placed out all the water dishes for me. There is 8 of them as we believe in fresh water everywhere. It was so nice to just have to change out the pen and weigh them.

I am uploading the videos now. It's me who takes all the videos so no wonder why I wake up tired. LOL
