Raven and Stone Tied 9:26am to 9:46am August 19
Hi
Just a quick update to let you know that DeeDee is truly a water dog. Despite the cold she decided by herself to take a dip into the lake. While the swim was short I am sure it will get longer when the weather gets better and more dogs are in the water. Afterwards she warmed up by playing chase with Beau, they had a great weekend. My sister was trying out her new camera and got some really good shots.
Cheers, Anne-Marie
Hi Nathan,
I don’t know why I have trouble transferring pictures, it looks like the ones I sent did not go through. I am trying again.
We were at the cottage over the weekend and DeeDee is discovering the lake. She is quite curious and went half way in, and dunked her head, despite the water being very cold. She spent quite a bit of time playing with the leaves in the water, I think this one will be a water dog (unlike Beau, who swims very well but does not particularly enjoy the water). They both travel well in the car, they tend to look around a bit when we leave but then settle down for the rest of the ride.
Hope you are both feeling better, I see from the website that the scallops might not have been kind to you!
Cheers, Anne-
Hi Nathan and Darlah,
Thought I would send along a few photos of Sully, he is getting so big! We are finally starting obedience school after almost a month delay (they keep cancelling the class start date) and I am sure Sully will be top of the class. He knows all his commands and is perfectly behaved on leash. He is so calm and curious about everything, and loves to meet new people. Last week we took him to the beach for the first time and he had a blast, and even dipped his toes in the water. Thanks again for giving us such a wonderful dog!
From,
Erin, Michael, Simon and Sully
Gucci was here for a bath and cleanup. Raven was really happy to see her. She got to play with everyone including the small pups. Fun was had by all.
She even got some bling on and she was trying to get it out every chance she got. LOL
She is so adorable!
We will be uploading videos in a bit.
It's rather bittersweet. The 2 last Raven pups departing. Tomorrow Stormy's Ollie comes for a visit.
It has been a journey.
Here is Sully with human parents and canine parents.
The xpen comes down. We focus on the next crew but you still miss each. Hoping to get people over for a visit and swim come summer. can summer come?
Ah it is always sad to see the last of the crew departing. Sully departs in a half hour.
Here is the gallery of the play before departure.
Lovely people - lovely Willow. What can I say?
Willow was calm, cool and collected about the bath and the blow dry.
They had a full morning with outside play and their baths.
Here is the gallery of Willow and Sully's outside play.
The snow was cold. They picked up their paws and that was a signal it was inside time.
Sully was funny in the bath. He didn't mind it at all. He thought the blow dryer took too long. LOL
The 2 last pups had their bath after the outdoor snow venture.
They are exhausted. The pups ate and are now sleeping. let's see how long they sleep after this morning. :-)
Willow will be the first to depart tomorrow and Sully will be departing starting at 6pm. Updates will be late.
When Sully and Willow was younger, it was very easy to tell them apart. Thank gad one is a boy and one is a girl as they seem to be morphing into each other. LOL
Boy do they need baths - tomorrow!
They are doing really well with this outdoor play and being with the adults. They only go to the xpen when it is nap time or eating. By being with the older dogs, they have learned that not all want to play all of the time. They are learning dog language and respect.
First day when it was just the two of them they tried the howling thing to try to get us to take them out. I ignored. I ignored them for a very long time. I almost put in ear plugs. You NEVER and I mean NEVER pick them up when they try that out for size. If you do, getting them to stop takes longer. Since I ignored them and took them out only when they are quiet, they haven't tried it but one more time and I looked at them and said really and walked away. Sounds terrible but if you do pick them up during this time they will get the idea that it works and they will try it again and again and again. They have not tried it since.
We had planned on keeping Willow. We have pups that need our focus and we want to concentrate on summer swimming. But darn these 2 are fabulous pups. They just fit in nicely with visitors and our own.
I keep wishing I was keeping one but you can't keep them all. Looks like she would have merged in with ours without issue. Not all enjoy the craziness.
Besides, the way I feel about shows and the politics of it all, I rather have them have fun. Dogs that win a great deal and show every weekend, their coat has to be maintained - washed twice a week. That is on me. Play is frowned upon as breakage occurs and then when they are done showing they seem to not get this play stuff. Nathan likes to show. I like the dogs to enjoy life fully. We debate it often but bottom line I plan to enjoy the summer. We plan to swim. Invite dogs and people over and get them swimming. Watch the play between moms and kids and siblings. That's important too. Who knows what fall will bring. LOL
These 2 are doing well. I imagine they may miss each other. Not sure if it is possible but these 2 should get together for a play day.
Pups are playing with the adults in the kitchen/tv room till eating and nap time. They are doing well though they are bonding. I also reduced the size of their xpen. I can walk to the tv now.
They had their first adventure outside. It went well despite the wind and cold. Be sure to check the videos.
Here is the in the kitchen and outside gallery.
The remaining two pup names are Sully and Willow. One is a boy, the other a girl.
We gave them 1/3c each today and they ate it. They are highly active so may need the 1/3c. We shall see.
Stormy is - well not herself. I imagine the same for Raven till they get used to it. Right now Raven is relishing having two.
When we had 1 Stormy pup and 2 Raven pups, we had a play session in the kitchen with the adults. We will do this daily till they depart on Thursday.
Be sure to watch the videos when all 3 were playing in the kitchen.
They did really well with the adults.
This is Gucci's new family gallery.
Gucci was the 2nd to go home today. The others that remain appear to be a tad confused on what is going on but they have eaten and are now taking a nap. they will come out to play for their last session before bedtime.
The key to a complete sleep all night is to have a play session before bed. It tuckers them out and they sleep well.
Here is the gallery from the play before the Gucci departure.
I will try to get the videos up tonight but it may not happen till tomorrow. I will try.
The 2 siblings will be staying till Thursday, They will get their baths Wednesday,
Dee Dee was the first to go home and bonus, she has a sister Beau to go home with. Beau is a Saffron and Stone puppy.
They have a long drive. They went to Ottawa and tomorrow they will go the rest of the way home to Montreal.
Beau and DeeDee are just getting to know each other.
Here is the gallery from the play before departure.
Looking forward to seeing these two playing with each other.
Here is Charlie's gallery before he departed.
I so love this boy and I am told we are going to see him from time to time so that makes me delighted. Raven and of course Nathan will be as well!
Here is Charlie's family gallery.
Thank you ever so much for the plant!!
Everyone here is napping and probably wondering what is going on. By tomorrow night we will be down to 1 Stormy puppy and 2 Raven puppies. Then Sunday night we will have 2 Raven pups till Thursday. They will both go home the same day making it easier on both of them.
Dee Dee is the smallest and mighty. She embraced the bath, the dryer, my hugs and could care less if I took all day to bathe her. She was having fun. The only thing she minded and not terribly so was hanging mid air so photos were taken. As Dennis was doing them, it took a tad longer than usual.
DeeDee is the 1st to depart tomorrow.
I had to redo hers and Gucci's paperwork. Glad I have a microchip reader. I was relying on the term littlest on the vet chart to say this is Dee Dee and Gucci's microchip number was on that chart. Needless to say between the microchip and the weight - we realized that the vet tech had put DeeDees microchip number on Gucci's chart and visa versa. I was frustrated having to redo everything.
I may send Nathan to the store to get white out as I had put owners names down before realizing the vet tech had it wrong. Never rely on a description before doing paperwork. My bad. Check the microchip reading 1st. Live and learn and hey I needed extra work.
This is why we always check microchips before departure in front of you. I have to say this was the 1st this ever happened.
Needless to say the microchips and the right charts are right for both pups.
Can I go to sleep now. Can I get rid of this headache? Nah we have the younger set to take upstairs and the rest of the blogs to do.
Gucci just stood in wait till I was done spraying her, I am not impressed. i would rather be playing.
Gucci is the 2nd puppy to depart tomorrow. We have 3 puppies departing tomorrow. That meant I had 3 baths to do plus visitors. Dennis took photos as nathan took a nap between. I am still going so if I sound short or off... well I am tired.
Gucci was a riot when she got back to the pen. It was as if to say - so you are done now?
Charlie was amazing in the bath even going as far as playing in the bubbles. Each day Charlie's pigment grows. This is one of Raven's favourites. She focuses on him a great deal but maybe its because he is so playful. He is similar to Raven in nature.
Here is Charlie's bath photos.
The pups played all together before baths - both Raven's and Stormy's. Here is the gallery.
This is the last 7 days of the Raven crew. Come Sunday night there will be only 2 pups left - both Raven's. Then Thursday the last departs. Hard when its the last especially when they are the only one left. We usually like the last 2 to go the same day as its just easier on them. Nathan will have to take the last to bed with us - spoiled for the night. Then we will do updates. Hard when it comes to a conclusion. But also happy that they have a wonderful journey in store for them.
Such play monkeys.
Check out the gallery of Stormy and Raven's crew.
Puppies are good eaters. They eat, they go to the pad and then, I clean up and they say let's go upstairs and play.
Short blog today. I will get videos up later. Read the all about our dogs blog to understand why.
