Types of Play
I had a couple of people that was concerned with how Meelo plays with mommy Stormy in the video. This was NOT aggressive play. It was fun play. When a dog makes that purring growl play sound they are playing not being aggressive. I am positive Meelo doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He is a fun, fun puppy who plays with ALL! I find him napping on his back in a sea of dogs without a concern in the world. That is trust.
When Roxie growls to say no, I do not want to play - that's how dogs communicate. He play bows and tries to get her to change her mind. Sometimes he is successful. Sometimes not. He is learning how to effectively get another to engage and learning dog communication.
There is NOTHING to worry about Meelo. This entire litter is a fun, fun crew. Each has their own personalities but due to Stormy and her fun engaging personalities, they are too.
By the way, Meelo is using the pad 100% here or going outside. He is just following the others and following suit.
I am pleased with all of the crew!

I love to see Meelo playing and having fun, I can hardly wait to bring him home!!
I never had a second thought about the video. It’s funny, when we brought Trigger home I thought Levon was being way too aggressive, then when I watch the videos now I can see how gentle he was. We were nervous. They knew what they were doing (sometimes Levon is a jerk to him, but not over the line).
My first thought was oh puppy you are going to hurt yourself, don’t run into the chair legs.. I thought Mommy was very gentle with her puppy.. I love the mom, pup play.
Why do the other bigger dogs run in, in what appears to be corrective behaviour when mom plays with pup or are they playing too?
I had to watch the video everyone is discussing. I think Meelo is having a grand time playing, teasing, and just general fun. 😁
Angela, I did too and feel the same way. Meelo looks like a well adjusted pup. He will be so happy with his new family. Funny the mention about Roxie growling sometimes to say no, Spicy does the same. Once in a while Coop wants to play in a grand way, will chase her and she stops him dead in his tracks and that’s the way it is. Their way to say, don’t want to play now...but when it’s time to cuddle with each other, it’s a different story. Always time to cuddle 🤗
The adults were trying to play too. No issues.
Murphy plays agame with me where she has a toy in her mouth and I finger creep my hand towards it and as I touch it, she play growls. I let go and we do it again. It’s hilarious
Rusty growls too when we play. He really growls. But we know he is playing because when I put my hand close he kisses it. He just wants to be boss sometimes. They have their own way of talking.
I have always felt that the growling I hear from Kona is his way of communicating with me. When we play he takes his toys or his ball and when I pretend to try and take it from him, he growls. It is not an aggressive sound. Just 'talking'.

Darlah, Thanks, still learning about doggy behaviour.
