Heh... Havanese

Don't you find, that is if you pay attention, that the havanese are one of the most expressive dogs?

Ty is visiting us till tomorrow and when we said you have to come back in now Ty, he sort of looked as if we had lost our mind. He rather loves the outside and the play and soon he will be going on a walk.

Julie (his human mom) showed us so many new tricks that they have taught him. It is so amazing at how fast he learns and retains them all.

Well, photos later. We have walks to do, playing, training and grooming and class tonight. Soon we will be doing a total recall class with many of you. Now that is going to be fun, fun, fun!

Here is a photo of Gidget messy as ever after I cleaned her up. What a gal. She just loves the Wasabi and she has to lead all on the walks. I just have to laugh!

This is how Nathan and Ty feel after the long walk we had today!

We have class tonight. The walk and trying to film Fiona and Truffie was a disaster. It was better yesterday. Maybe it had something to do with trying to walk and take a video at the same time and well yesterday they were hugging as they walk - bodies up against each other but not until they were almost home were they like that and we already gave up on trying to capture them. I have decided you need a person NOT walking video taping. But this is today's walk not as good as yesterdays. Oh well. Some things are meant not to video tape as it simply has to be staged to duplicate it or you need extra people. Here are a few photos take today. Gidget looks messy but she isn't. She decided to make sure I took out that top knot but of course we didn't. :-)

I may be sleeping through class tonight. I am tired after exercise and the walks. Let's not forget the grooming. :-) I wanted to wash the duo going to class but ran out of steam. They aren't really dirty but I love that fresh smell of just having a bath. Oh well.

I recognize that look that Ty is giving you. It is the 'are you kidding' look.
The Havs really do have very expressive faces. They make me laugh.
Ask Julie if she has a video of Ty performing his tricks. He is a smart one for sure.

Kathy: Will ask her on pickup. She has the counting down pat now - all sorts of numbers that he counts to. Pray, sneeze, stickup and on and on. I laugh at how good he is. She has way too much time on her hand since she is no longer working and she is the first to admit that. You also have that description down on his expression. He reminds me of Kona in so many ways.

I love the expressions on Ty's face. They truly are so expressive. I never understood that until we got Scruffy and realized we knew exactly what he was thinking by his expressions. The "are you kidding me" look we see a lot. LOL. Especially when I am tryng to take endless photos.

Darlah, the link for the video didn't work for me.
Scruffy & Pepper often walk glued together and it's a riot....you can't tell where one ends and the other begins. Pepper is very competitive though....she needs to be a nose ahead and sometimes starts to tackle Scruffy midwalk if she feels she is losing the race. Thats why we call her 8 lbs of trouble :)

Nice to see Fiona and Truff walk together. They sure walk fast. Gotta love Ty's expression ...as well as him and Nathan resting....so tired from their walk :-) On Monday, we put Cooper's Muttluk's boots on for the first time this year as there was snow, sand and salt all over. He didn't miss a bit. Got the boots on and off we went.

Ann - Where did you get the Muttluks? I'd like to find something Laci won't mind wearing. She got a new coat yesterday - "Canadian Pooch" and she loves it. She was walking around the store modeling for everyone and got a lot of compliments. LOL I didn't like the other she had as it was a slippery material that didn't stay put and I believe the motion also caused matting. Besides, this one is much warmer so it will be nice to keep up the walks.

Debi, we got the Muttluks at Ren's Pet Depot but Pet Value sells them also. Cooper takes X-Small and they are fleece lined. We conditioned him early on to wear them but not all dogs can stand them. As a matter of fact, here in Huntsville, we see very few dogs wearing them. In the spring, when there is still sand/salt, we also use the rubber Paws but the Muttluks have more grip and are warmer in the winter. Would love to see a picture of Laci with her coat. I bet she is so cute with it on!

Thx for the info Anne. PetValu is where I got Laci's coat "Canada Pooch." (I previously misspelled.) I love the owners of this franchise and frequent there often but I guess since they are a franchise they carry different items, but I'll ask for them. We have the rubber paws but they are so darn difficult to get on, especially w/ longer haired dogs, so I've neglected to use them, plus they're only good in warmer weather.

I'll take a picture of Laci in her coat and send it along. It has a fur trimmed hoodie that snaps down or goes up and is serviceable. I just love it! :-)

Does everyone know Fromm's has a Black Friday special? I've already put my order in.

November 22, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci

Debi, the Muttluks are not that easy to put on either. Actually, they may be a tad harder than the rubber paws simply because the boot has to go over the ankle bone in order to secure it and you have to pull the hair away. It is almost a two person job although Russell can do it alone. Once you do it a few times though, it's no problem. I didn't know about Fromm's Black Friday, will look for it - thanks!

Hi,I got Stella's muttlucks from global.i could not get the balloons on by myself,so I gave them away.you just have to ensure one has not fallen off in the park.i always check to make sure all four boots are on.
Darlah, how did you manage to dress 7 kids for the snow, lol.thanks for the from a tip.

It' a BOGO sale! They recommend you pre-order so they have your product in stock and you can only purchase on the 29th. (4 or 5 lb bags.)

Re boots - I think the problem is Doug as I need his help w/ the rubber paws and he's so afraid of hurting Laci. (When in doubt blame it on the men I always say.) LOL

Thx Valerie! 2 options now.

Poor Fiona and Truffie have to do a quick, quick walk as they are smaller in stature. The smaller the dog, the faster those legs have to go to keep up. It is so obvious in the ring so you slow down so they walk slower. The things you learn but the quick, quick doesn't bother them. They just look better in the ring slower. One has to adjust to the dog. The longer the leg, the slower the gait. That's true in humans too.

By the way NONE and I mean NONE of mine like boots. Plus we lost so many that we gave up trying. I do put bag balm on their pads in the winter so they don't crack. I also rinse sand and salt off ALWAYS as they will bite their feet to attempt to do it themselves. I applaud people who can get them used to it. I do use boots for rain on show dogs but I find pad training a more sensible thing.

PS: My bag balm routine is when I brush them. I also check ears and eyes at the same time.

PS: Everyone sells muttlucks. I also have a huge pile of coats that we don't use.
