It's All About the Rain

Well, we started playing at 7am. Some are now chillin' watching TV with Dennis and Nathan while I have the pups and some of the dogs here. My camera batteries are charging. I really need to get more than two as I use 2 at a time.

We had a lot of dancing today...

We had a number of meeting of the minds. No one wanted to hang outside or play as its truly been raining most of the day so its been inside creative play other than the number of times they go out. Dennis started walks but they came back so saturated I said let's expel their energy inside or I will be grooming all night. So, we did!

We did do grooming cause why not. Steven and My's 3 already know the routine. Brush, comb - TREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I meant the explanation points.

Mac wants the treats forget about the brushing - do you really have to do THAT? Let's make a deal. You can ignore that and well I will give you long cuddles. hmmm it's an interesting proposition. How about I do the snuggles, still brush and you get a treat? Mac is great on the table. I just think he thinks the process is silly. Where Raylan wants to be rolling and messing himself 2 minutes after the fact. No matter what I do with the front of his hair - well he looks like Raylan.  I think Monty is the most tolerant will all this silly cleanup.

It's been a terribly wet day. The sheets will be soaked tonight and muddy if I don't muster the energy to clean feet and legs yet again before bed. Realize we go out at 10pm so that would mean as they come in I would be cleaning before bed. Clean the sheets, wash all the feet and undersides - well even if I opted to clean only the sheets the dogs come morning would still need a cleanup so what would YOU do?

Such a silly thing to be pondering. I think I will try out that mat Steven and My brought us. hmmmmm

Stay tuned tomorrow. I forgot about that. Silly me!

PS: Lori and Roger's duo could care less if I try to groom them morning noon or night. She must be doing a lot of conditioning. But oh boy Scruffy should be both of their names. But that means they are having oh so much fun so truly deep down we don't mind.

Darlah, Monty's coat looks great. Did Stephen & My trim him or did they have
someone else give him a 'hair cut' ?

Hate all this wet weather. Kona tries to walk on the side walk and
the garden curbing so he does not get his feet wet. He is short so his coat
gets all wet anyway.

Kathy: I believe they do it themselves. I am sure Steven will respond.

The crew wick up here too. Just think of Shoshi getting wet and then you will smile.

Glad the little ones are having so much fun regardless of weather.
You know Darlah....you are right about Pepper. She is just as scruffy as the Scruffster! They stay groomed for maybe 3 minutes. LOL. I don't know how many elastics have gone missing from their hair....and who knows where they went, down the hatch maybe?
I find they have been much better with grooming since I started putting them up on the table together. Now if Scruffy is up there, Pepper begs to come up too. She likes to lie beside him chewing a toy while I groom him. And also, with this routine, she has no more fear of the hair dryer!!!! Sweet how they bring out the best in each other :)

Kathy, my wife and I tag team the grooming. I do the clipping and my wife does the detailed scissor work. I do the bathing, she does the drying. I do the nails, she does the combing, and so on.

It took us a while to figure out the ideal lengths for each of them, so there were **many** bad haircuts on our path to 'self-education'.

Darlah, you should try the mat. I find it does help a bit with the boys tracking footprints when it's wet outside.

I did. It reduces the amount (huge thanks) but doesn't get rid of that belly mud. It looks so pretty I wanted to use it for the grooming room. ROFL. Much thanks! I am actually going to do a marathon after they go out at 10. Bellies and feet and off to bed after the two blow dryers. It's not my floors (can just mop) though that helps but when they do go out they seem to run -like- hell through the grass and kick up the mud. They get muddy undersides and Monty and Raylan had what I call a half bath - squirt a combo shampoo/conditioner and pull through and rinse. Kat was so bad I almost fell on the floor and cried. Should have taken a photo. He even had mud on his face running after guess who MAC and he was running after him. But Mac hardly got dirty and Mac was playing back. I wanted to click photos but it was raining too bad. I noticed I was drenched when I came in. I didn't notice when I was watching. I had to change I was so wet. I must get something to cover the camera and lens and still allow me to take photos when it is raining. I was so excited to see Mac playing like that with Kat! I need a waterproof camera!

The trio is having a blast!

Lori: They are so terrific - truly. I groom - no worries but scruffy they are 2 minutes later. Pepper and Scruffy both were wonderful with the Abigail pups today. I have to say the Abigail pups were rather great themselves. They also thought Levon shot the moon too. Get this even without the one on one now Scruffy doesn't act as if they are martians. How time changes things and getting conditioned to the Peppered one!

Hope you are having great weather and soaking up the sun. I am hoping to get the duo in the pool. It's debatable if I get to do the same with Stevens 3. The weather - well it is what it is.

Hey Darlah, I have an extra rain cover that I don't use and is big enough for your setup, I will try to remember to bring it when you see me.

June 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSteven Ng

Great shots. The top one looks like a Scruffy sandwich. Levon was dead to the world when he came home, lol.

Steven: Will buy it from you... thnx This morning when we tried to get them into the grass they were so unhappy. I walked in it and its been raining so much I think the grass is going squish and my feet had mud on them as I had sandals on so now I know how they are getting so muddy. You don't even have to run just walk. Well the weeds are growing and I may be throwing out plants and weeds to thin out. Star of Bethlehem is going to be yanked out for sure as it will just come back. hahahaha My garden is growing in leaps and bounds.

hey darlah, don't worry about the rain cover, they aren't expensive at all (you'll understand when you see it) but they work great. I used mine to shoot Niagara Falls right from under the ridge, and it protected my gear nicely.
