Tomorrow

Tomorrow we are going to try walking through the grass if it remains dry. The grass is a tad long so we don't want totally soaked pups so we are playing it by ear. We are only going to do 6 at a time so we can watch them closely.

Chasing Moms

Moms are starting to want to wean but they are relentless - the gremlins. They love them anyways but you may hear lots of momma growling as that is how they communicate that the milk bar is closed. They often don't listen. Do you know human kids that do the same - don't listen to no?

Here is a video of them upstairs playing

I have to say the puppies are so fun now. They really want to go seek new adventures. It's interesting. The 6 week visit is sort of like a kick off to fun that can be had.

Today we have had several upstairs events but as I was busy I only managed to capture one. Dennis and our daughter Tracy played with them while I tackled other things. But hopefully the video will give you a taste of their fun and Momma growls saying no more milk.

11 AM Puppy Visit: Video Link Fixed

Had a visit with the pups. Here is the gallery.  Too busy to delete bad photos etc. No time. Video - not sure when. I have a couple of dogs to groom after the 3pm visit. Crazy busy.

Huge thank you to Max and Carmen for the puppy gifts - yum toys that smell like bacon and the apple pie (Nathan's fave) and the truffles.

Here's the 11am video of the visit.

1st Bath

As you can see less bubbles than Jeannies but this is what I did. I use the bathing beauty to distibute the shampoo and conditioner all over the pups. Then I drain and use the hose to rinse each pup up. Then I squeeze the excess water off of them then take a towel and vigorously dry them. I then spray them with grooming spray and comb them out. They then go under the dryers till they can go outside.

Roxie's pups were inquisitive but of course they were not full of bubbles up to their necks. Clean still but the bathing beauty ran for less time.

Then Nathan came in and held each puppy while I did their bum and cleaned up their pads. I also took a quick photo and they were all still wet. Outside they went to dry off. Good thing this was not winter or it would have been a much slower process.

Here's a short video just before baths. I tried to tucker them out before the big experience.

Will You Come to Play?

Pups are really enjoying the visits from the adult dogs but moms are having a tough time as pups chase them to get to mom's milk even long after its gone. This too shall pass as moms wean. Jeannie already thinks it is time. But that means the other moms are picking up the rest. Oh boy.

I have a video of this but I won't have it ip till later tonight or tomorrow. I have grooming to do.

Engaging in Play

They are truly engaged with each other and it is not simply siblings but with everyone. Their tails are up now. They all have teeth coming in.

Each time I take them outside we clean all the blankets and Dennis sterilizes the xpen. I am so sick of laundry - truly.

The pups got dewormed. Output has been fine so far. In 2 weeks they will get another and then just before going home yet another. Sometimes it loosens up their bowels but so far it hasn't.

Playing With Toys

We do have our favorite toys. Some crinkle. Some make noises. Some swing like they do from this activity center. We really like our toys. Eating from moms are an experience now as we make a fast exchange of pups to the right mom and still some persist that moms milk is better.

We are adjusting to upstairs and do not make a noise til the rest of the humans and dogs get up. Then we want to go downstairs. Our pen was larger and less of a mess. So, that worked.
