Mon 22 Feb 2016	First day of mating. 48 hours after the first mating the bitch should be mated again. Subsequent matings occurring over a period of time enhance the chances of fertilization taking place. The spermatozoa migrate up through the cervix.
Tues 23 Feb 2016	Sperm travel searching for a mature ripened eggs.
Thur 25 Feb 2016 - Sat 27 Feb 2016	Spermatozoa reach the eggs in the oviducts.
Wed 24 Feb 2016 - Thu 25 Feb 2016	Fertilization occurs in the oviducts which lead from the ovaries to the uterus.
Thu 25 Feb 2016 - Sat 27 Feb 2016	Fertilized eggs migrate down the oviducts and into the uterine horns. The migration continue to enable even spacing of the embryos. During this migration the eggs will grow into a blastocystes.
Sat5 Mar 2016 - Mon 7 Mar 2016	The blastocystes implant in the wall of the uterus.
Sat 5 Mar 2016 - Sat 19 Mar 2016	The blastocystes will grow into an embryos. During the next two weeks the important organs will develop.
Tue 8 Mar 2016 - Tue 15 Mar 2016	Dams nipples begin to pink enlarge. The hair on the dams belly and around the nipples may become thinner.
Thu 14 Mon 2016 - Mon 21 Mar 2016	Morning sickness might occur due to hormonal changes or stretching and distension of the uterus. Dam may appear a bit apathetic. She may be off her feed for a while and vomit from time to time. Feeding the dam several meals spaced throughout the day might help. Your veterinarian may want to prescribe a drug to relax the uterus.
Sat 19 Mar 2016 - Wed 23 Mar 2016	An experienced person (a breeder or a veterinarian) can tell by careful palpation whether the dam is pregnant. It's now the best time to do this because the embryos are walnut-sized now and easy to count.
Tue 22 Mar 2016	Start to increase the dams food ration. Don't overfeed, excessive weight gain should be avoided. The fetuses are now and are fully developed miniature dogs.
Tue 29 Mar 2016	The Dams abdomen starts to get larger.
Thu 7 Apr 2016	It's very easy now to feel the puppies, counting them might be a bit more difficult.
Sun 10 Apr 2016 - Mon 18 Apr 2016	Dam begins to spend a lot more time in self-grooming. Her breasts become even more swollen. She may become a bit restlessness and begin to search for a suitable place to have her puppies.
Mon 12 Apr 2016	The dam might lose her appetite during this period. Her abdomen can be crowded with puppies. It is better to feed several smaller meals spaced throughout the day. You can easily detect abdominal movement now.
Tue 12 Apr 2016 - Wed 27 Apr 2016	Nipples and vulva should be gently cleaned with warm water, you might want to trim the hairs surrounding the nipples, to allow easier access for the puppies to suck.
Fri 22 Apr 2016 - Mon 25 Apr 2016	Milky fluid may be expressed from the nipples.
Sat 23 Apr 2016	You might want to start taking the dams rectal temperature each morning and evening.
Tues 26 Apr 2016	Twelve to 24 hours before she is due to deliver, the dams rectal temperature may drop from 101 to 98 degrees. Clear discharge from the vulva might occur.
Wed 27 Apr 2016	Expected date of whelp. Of course this is just an average. Whelping may take place from the 59th to the 65th day. Puppies born before the 58th day will probably be too young to survive.

Of Course

Now who has the stick? Stone, of course. The pups had a blast today despite it being cold. They are also doing really well about grooming. I am so impressed!

Playing

As you will see in the gallery in All About Our Dogs, Stone looks like Dolly is overwhelming him but she is not. He plays up to her ability which is rather amazing considering his age. Roxie still loves him up, cleans him and makes sure he is okay. She is often found napping with him. 

Off a Day

Regular updates will occur starting tomorrow. We are taking a break today and trying to be proactive in playing recovery.

Odd Man Out

Today it was all about Tosca and River with Stone looking on. Then when Nathan got on the floor it got all 3 playing again. Gallery can now be found in All About Dogs.

Mother's Love

There is nothing like Momma's love and Roxie is amazing still cleaning her baby and sometimes even cleaning River. She remains deeply in that mom role. It's rather nice.

Mighty Cold

Really it was mighty cold outdoors. Did it stop us? Nah! We played and we were the last ones to come indoors. Silly pups just can't get enough of this running play. Look at the adults. They do it so we can. heh 

But we didn't allow them outdoors for too long. We just went out a lot!

Ice Breaking Play

Aren't the pups delicious? The ice is breaking up but now solidifying again. The pups manage to have fun anyways.
