Please realize that the calendar is an estimate. As we go we look at events that occur (such as morning sickness etc) and get a better idea of real timing.

Wed 5 Aug 2115	First day of mating. 24 hours after the first mating the bitch should be mated again. Subsequent matings occurring over a period of time enhance the chances of fertilization taking place. The spermatozoa migrate up through the cervix.
Thu 6 Aug 2115	Sperm travel searching for a mature ripened eggs.
Thu 6 Aug 2115 - Fri 7 Aug 2115	Spermatozoa reach the eggs in the oviducts.
Fri 7 Aug 2115 - Sat 8 Aug 2115	Fertilization occurs in the oviducts which lead from the ovaries to the uterus.
Sat 8 Aug 2115 - Mon 10 Aug 2115	Fertilized eggs migrate down the oviducts and into the uterine horns. The migration continue to enable even spacing of the embryos. During this migration the eggs will grow into a blastocystes.
Sun 16 Aug 2115 - Tue 18 Aug 2115	The blastocystes implant in the wall of the uterus.
Sun 16 Aug 2115 - Sun 30 Aug 2115	The blastocystes will grow into an embryos. During the next two weeks the important organs will develop.
Wed 19 Aug 2115 - Wed 26 Aug 2115	Dams nipples begin to pink enlarge. The fur on the dams belly and around the nipples may become thinner.
Tue 25 Aug 2115 - Tue 1 Sep 2115	Morning sickness might occur due to hormonal changes or stretching and distension of the uterus. Dam may appear a bit apathetic. She may be off her feed for a while and vomit from time to time. Feeding the dam several meals spaced throughout the day might help. Your veterinarian may want to prescribe a drug to relax the uterus.
Sun 30 Aug 2115 - Thu 3 Sep 2115	An experienced person (a breeder or a veterinarian) can tell by careful palpation whether the dam is pregnant. It's now the best time to do this because the embryos are walnut-sized now and easy to count.
Wed 2 Sep 2115	Start to increase the dams food ration. Don't overfeed, excessive weight gain should be avoided. The fetuses are now fully developed miniature dogs.
Tue 8 Sep 2115	The Dams abdomen starts to get larger.
Fri 18 Sep 2115	It's very easy now to feel the puppies, counting them might be a bit more difficult.
Mon 21 Sep 2115 - Tue 29 Sep 2115	Dam begins to spend a lot more time in self-grooming. Her breasts become even more swollen. She may become a bit restlessness and begin to search for a suitable place to have her puppies.
Wed 23 Sep 2115	The dam might lose her appetite during this period. Her abdomen can be crowded with puppies. It is better to feed several smaller meals spaced throughout the day. You can easily detect abdominal movement now.
Wed 23 Sep 2115 - Thu 8 Oct 2115	Nipples and vulva should be gently cleaned with warm water, you might want to trim the hairs surrounding the nipples, to allow easier access for the puppies to suck.
Sat 3 Oct 2115 - Tue 6 Oct 2115	Milky fluid may be expressed from the nipples.
Sun 4 Oct 2115	You might want to start taking the dams rectal temperature each morning, mid-day and evening.
Wed 7 Oct 2115	Twelve to 24 hours before she is due to deliver, the dams rectal temperature may drop from 101 to 98 degrees. This tells you that pups will arrive within 12-24 hours after drop and beginning of rise. Clear discharge from the vulva might occur.
Thu 8 Oct 2115	Expected date of whelp. Of course this is just an average. Whelping may take place from the 59th to the 65th day. Puppies born before the 58th day will probably be too young to survive.

Just Once a Day

Roxie went swimming today so she had some fun other than just breeding and hanging out in the office. I believe in balance for them. They need to have fun.

 We are opting for once a day, which is plenty. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Poor quality photo as its on the ipad. It is what it is. Nathan thinks I am nuts putting up such photos. I am told she dances a long time and makes him work for it. Good girl, Roxie. hahahaha

We are only breeding her once a day and when she is done, she is done. Then we get to bring Envy back home. Long round trip drive. I may go just to keep Nathan awake. :-)

Second Tie

Still no video or photos. This was TALEMAKER'S RUNVS - "ENVY" looking for Roxie. He just had his bath and no matter what I did I couldn't get a good photo of him as he just has one thing in mind - Roxie. He also does that shake, shake where you have him combed perfect and he goes - so there!

No photos. Nathan had to be hands on.

This is 3 days AFTER Adele's last tie. If she takes first connection they may have pups close together. 

Guess things changed from the smear results this morning. 

Hoping tomorrow we can get a photo.

Meet Mom the Roxie

For those that do not remember Roxie had a drive by? What do you mean? Kat never connected but got close enough to her to allow some swimmers to get there and she ended up with just 2. We were hoping she wasn't pregnant but she had a beautiful duo and showed us what type of mom she was. 

No drive by. No connection but we just did a smear and it seems she is still early. Looks like we are going to have a solid week between the pups. It is what it is.

We try tomorrow...

PS: the local vet who really doesn't know our dogs went oh my that one looks like Adele. Well, they have the same mom. :-) 

Day 7/8

She's standing for him but its still too early. I suspect tomorrow.

Just Bathed

They danced. She sat down. This is normal when its too early. 

AS you can see in the bottom photo she is smiling at me. She has really gone a golden apricot which happens in sables. The top photo was taken with too much light as it was next to the window so she looks bleached out. She is actually darkening these days. She's darker than Adele.

Not Ready

As I suspected she is not ready yet. She is keenly interested. Will dance with him but will then sit down. It's really early yet for her. It's only day 5 or 6 for her depending on if I caught it day 1 or missed it. I figure in a couple of days but we will try them daily.
