Outdoor Play

Even though it was cool outside, we got the pups out. Adele pups have more body fat so they can stay warmer longer. So, we took out the Adele pups first and then the Roxie pups. All are doing well outside. Funny, I wasn't comfie outside but the pups were till they felt cold. They are getting conditioned to cooler weather.

Wait till you see the pups tomorrow. They are so much fun.

Here's a video with Patches.

Kiss a Can

I have to laugh. I finally did the first video of the experience with the activity box. I have to take a new one as they have really got into this, as you can see. Kissing the can. The pups are so curious.

Can't believe in 2 days that you will be here experiencing the pups. You will love it. Pups are out of their xpen multiple times a day. The kitchen will be relatively new for them as we have been using the hall due to Panda being in heat. We try to keep a distance between the boys and the gal.

Pups have adapted to going upstairs and Adele is starting to want them to stop feeding. They are 6 weeks so it can happen. You see they have teeth and poor thing is getting bruised with their enthusiasm especially in the morning. They are eating well enough to stop the mom experience but maybe we will wait till Nathan departs on his trip.

Pups feed now from moms about 3 times a day where Roxie's feed 4 times. Perhaps we will try for once in the morning and once at night. They are eating kibble without issue now and they still love the mousse. Where Roxie's still only eat the mousse. That was true for Adele's pups last week. Seems both litters are on the same track though Roxie's are smaller. You will see.

First Bath

This gal is going to silver out. You can see it around the eyes and it is just starting at the roots. What an interesting colour she will be.

The crew all had their bath and I must say this crew was amazing for the bath. No complaints from them. They were curious with the bubbles and they didn't mind the blow dryers one bit. Wow!

Here's a gallery of their first bath wet and dry. The first tan apricot is the gal. The last is the boy.

They just now woke up after their baths and are dying to be fed. heh

No videos today but I will play catchup tomorrow.

We Are Having Fun

The Adele pups really like this new toy too. Best part is I can buy items, drill a hole and hang different things. So, I am not stuck with what is there but what is there is a great beginning as they enjoyed it. No fear in the least from either litter. Not even any hesitancy. Bravo little ones. You passed another test and you showed the moms why there is no reason not to walk through, play and enjoy. Every adult dog here hesitated and I mean EVERY one.

Here's a gallery of them upstairs last night. Pups are adapting to upstairs. No crying. Of course we do tucker them out before bedtime. Even the Roxie pups are fine and would be upstairs if they were able to fend off the overtures of some extra physical pups. But that will happen I suspect by the time Nathan is away. Either way both litters are doing well without mom at night. Even Adele was much better last night as she knew the drill. Truffie was just crazy irritating as he thought Let's no didn't mean no. hahahaha

Pups really look forward to being out. Both litters have lots of teeth. They are tearing but that will go away after the teeth come in. They have already had their first deworming and usually it gives them loose bowels. It did not. Both sets of pups have had theirs. They get 3 treatments. We have never had an issue but we do it as a preventative. We also do the moms and the adults.

Pups are starting to understand 'no'. I tell them mo if they are being too rough, trying to nibble on your feet gets a loud OUCH and I tell them no we don't eat the pad. They are actually doing well listening.

It's getting late so I will post a few videos. This Specialty stuff is a huge amount of work on top of the rest.

First Upstairs Without Mom

How did we survive? Well they went upstairs. They were not sure what was going on. They explored, they ran around and they cried a bit wondering what was up and then they settled in. I wish both litters were able to do this but maybe in a week. They are simply too all over the Roxie pups and we are correcting. It's just play but there is a size difference.

At 7am they were still sleeping but I woke them up, brought them downstairs to a freshly made pen and they attacked mom like they were leeches. Poor moms - both. They do have teeth.

Adele did keep me up all night and when I say all night, I meant it. I am trashed and I had to write html for the baskets etc. It's a miracle that I completed it.

Here are the videos. Please look at the timestamps as you can get a feel of what they were doing when.

Short Update

Pups are going upstairs without mom so we have been busy getting that ready. The camera is still not up yet but will be before bed. Here is a gallery of today

Roxie pups will remain downstairs without mom. Adele's pups are just too physical still and I don't want Roxie's pups getting mauled. We will attempt to get them upstairs together when they are bigger and can fend of the Adele crew. Both pups will have food tonight but will not have the mommies.

Here is a video to get you by. Play Eat Adele Pups

We will report - or I will report tomorrow how it goes.

Patches and the Pups: Videos Added

Usually when we try to match a puppy with an existing dog we put them together with all and see who connects with them. We need to do this a couple of times to see if the fit is right. If this mad house of pups doesn't work, we do a one on one with each puppy. Sometimes all of them at once scares them. At first Patches thought they were gremlins and then the play started with this one. Patches sniffed all. Even attempted to play with a couple but today the attraction was with this one. See the gallery.

We did have to remove the moms as they were spending too much time making sure Patches didn't hurt their babies.

Here We Come

The pups are feeling their oats. Let's try this. Let's try that. They do this to find boundaries. They do this to perfect skills and they learn. Moms teach them. The other pups teach them. We teach them. Then when they start interacting with the dog adults then they learn from them. It's a process. So when I say they change during the 4 to 8 week time frame, it is ever so true. They change due to experiences. Each will have their own experiences. Each will end up with their own energy level and their own unique personality but it's just starting to all unfold.

This is the most exciting time truly. You will enjoy the pups when you visit. There is no doubt about it.

They had a visit today and they did really well. Here is the gallery

Age Differences

Yes, 8.5 days makes a HUGE difference at 'this' stage but not at say 6 and 7 weeks. There is a significant amount of development between 4 to 6 weeks. Even confidence as they achieve increases each day. When you see them they will be 6 weeks and 4 days and 5 weeks and 3 days. They will be closer to each other but not quite the same yet. Add one more week and you won't see a difference and usually the younger ones have to perfect their skills to keep up with the older ones.

Then the next stage is when they learn how to socialize properly. Moms correct, siblings correct and they learn boundaries. They also learn bite inhibition. It's when we truly know if that quiet one will be quiet or that over the top dog will remain so. It's why 8 weeks is a gauge. This makes it ever so tough with 2 litters and having a choice between the two. It is something that weighs on me heavily as I do care that its the right home.

On the 20th I will have Paula and Tracy here to give me a perspective from eyes that are seeing them the first time. I will see if they see what I see.

More later....

Must Be Our Age

Take us out. We don't care if it rains. So what if the himan has to wash us. What's that? Well, she hasn't lost her mind. She would still be washing if that happened. Instead we got some out of pen play but its been a low key day otherwise.

Tomorrow a family from Montreal is in to play with the crew. As they are in town for something else, they get their play date tomorrow. They can't come in from that far two weeks in a row, We get that. So, with crazy boys, 2 girls in heat and well too cold to go outdoors, we will wing it. This will be one of their play dates.

Floors were washed today and guess what they will get washed tomorrow too. Just a reality of muddy outdoors.

Here is the one video, I promised.
