4 Weeks Old

I now take the pups out each time I clean up and change out all the blankets in their xpen. They do not seem to mind at all and will be found wandering. They are curious. It's nice.

The pups play with you now and get mighty excited to see you. It's truly a fun stage. We are still working on them drinking water. 

Their bowels have solidified and I am not having to clean up their bums. Bravo. Bowels always change when you introduce food. They seem to use the pad quite a bit. 

We are starting to see personalities. We also notice a lot of activity at night. That will change as the time will extend to sleeping more at night and less during the day.

3 Weeks 6 Days Old

Give this crew another week or less and Safi will be coming back to bed with us and they will be without mom during the night. Dennis will be in his own bed again.

Either today or tomorrow we are going to remove one set of blankets so they have to deal with flooring on a daily basis. By doing so, we can start taking them out upstairs for play sessions. Soon good wether and they will start going out every non wet day.

The smallest pups so far is the 1st one born. The last born eats and eats food and the chocolate and white swims in the bowl as she eats at times. They are characters. I did catch one drinking water by themselves without me placing it near her. They can't go upstairs till they are drinking water. 

When they go upstairs at night they are in a room across from ours with a camera and voice so we can hear and see them. I find myself watching way too much and Nathan does the same. They go upstairs around 930 to 10pm and get up at 7am. This along with play sessions upstairs and walking then running on flooring is the next fun changes we will see.

3 Weeks 5 Days Old

Their bowels are slightly loose but are in good shape. It tells me their bodies are adjusting to solid food. They also are eating well though the boy decides to eat when he wants to not when you tell him. LOL

They practice walking and had their 2nd time outside of the pen. I can't wait till they are completely solid on their feet so we can take them upstairs to play. It will happen soon. They will be 4 weeks in 2 days - wow.

Puppies wag their tails in excitement to see us. How delightful. It makes my heart skip a beat. 

They love snuggles and holding them close. They are starting to get this pad business on their own at times. I am impressed!

3 Weeks 4 Days 1st Solid

The pups had their first solid food and they ate like they were meant to eat solids always. They were messy. One swam in the dish. You will see who in the videos. Water I could not get them to drink yet but food - yep. Water is always last so we do not worry. It simply doesn't taste or smell as good. By 4 to 4.5 weeks they will be drinking regularly from the water dish. It all comes together.

They also walked on the flooring and although not steady, they were rather good at it. During this week I will start exposing them to the flooring in their xpen.

As you know, Dennis, our son stays up with them at night but that will soon come to a close. By the 4.5 to 5 week window they start doing without mom and us at night but we always have cameras. I call this the lack of sleep period as I tend to wake up and watch them. It's a sickness, I tell you. As I have sound on always I can hear them and so can the canine mom.

3 Weeks 3 Days Old

They are becoming acutely aware that they have paws and legs. Everything seems to fascinate them.

We are going to try to feed them tomorrow or the next day.

3 Weeks 2 Days Old

The pups are wonderful. They are getting more active each day. They are wonderful beings.

They sleep comfortable on their backs. They climb up in my lap. Nothing like pups.

3 Weeks 1 Day Old

Pups are doing well. They are using the pad more and more.

They are truly interested in me and I am truly interested in them. 

Soon we will be trying them on solid food and we will be opening up floor space to get them to get used to the flooring. I love their waggy tails. I can't believe how excited they are for me to play with them.

3 Weeks Old Safi Pups

I love, love, love this gal. I go into the xpen area and she comes walking as fast as her body will allow wagging her tail at me.

She is such a character. 

They climb up into the plane bed without any assistance. They love snuggling into blankets and pillows. I do believe they are so loving and curious. No fear thus far. 

In another week we will try them on solid food softened. We will start taking them out to play upstairs. When it gets warm they will go outdoors. April will be a month of so many changes. 

We hope to get this crew in the pool before they depart. Now wouldn't that be fun?

20 Days Old

Pups are 1 day short of 3 weeks. They really had no adjustment to the changes. They are gaining less now as they are more active but that will change when they get mousse which is another half of a week. They are doing well.

They are really starting to show their personality. The dark brown girl may actually be a chocolate. 

This blog is going to be short as I am trying to get well.

Pups now are starting to use the pad with our help and oh my gad they are so lovee when I lay in the xpen. Be still my heart! They are also going about 3 hours between meals. Safi gets a break.

Be sure to check out the videos. Not many today. Just not up to it. It was enough to comb and comb the wet and dirt out of the adults.

19 Day Old Changes

This little beauty almost made it completely out then she made it out. She was determined. So out of the whelping box they are now thanks to Ms Dark Brownie.

How did they adjust to the new surroundings? Wonderful. 

As I am typing they are sleeping all over. Saffron wanted to redecorate trying to pull up the blankets but she has now settled in to them having the appearance of being exposed. I now think she likes the extra room and it seems they do too.

Check out the videos. You will see some are doing pretty darn good with this walking business. I laid down in the pen and one rubbed her body up against my face, gave me kisses and patted me with her paw. That was wonderful to experience. 

18 Days Old

Here is today's gallery.

The puppies are starting to get active for small windows. The one with personality plus so far is the last born. She tries new things. She is actually walking for short spurts and she is also the one who climbed out of the pen. She also gives me kisses. 

They are all over 1 pound. I can't tell who the smallest will be till after they start eating solid food. 

I can tell you the smallest in weight now - 1st born the siblings were all trying to get all the milk slots but today she said enough and pushed her brother out of the way and latched on. It's why I help during the day as there is always someone pushing their siblings out of the way and its nice when one says -no not this time. I count too!

17 Days Old

The pups are now 17 days old and they are now trying to walk, to interact with toys. They are getting to be a lot of fun.

16 Days Old

They are starting to get animated. They try to walk to mom when it is feeding time. She tries to feed them sitting up.

I love holding them. I touch them all over each day, each pup. This helps them get used to human touch. But I will tell you, they seem to relish it. So much trust for just opening their eyes. 

15 Days Old

Oh to be able to hold and hug the pups and they can see you - wonderful! The pups are more active now. They are gaining weight. They are enjoying their surroundings.

Two Weeks Old Today

We got the pups a new bed today. It says First Class and it's a cozy plane. 

I have started adding toys so they start getting a visual. This will stimulate some activity and interest in the world. they are already using them as pillows and snuggles.

The pups have grown significantly since birth. They are plump and active. Mom has started to eat more as they are eating more but she remains picky. Today she turned dowm roast beef but loved bacon. We only indulge them this way when they are feeding pups. We always add something to the food but not quite like this. She gets chicken, ground beef (our usual for everyone) but she also gets steak, fish, cheese, prime rib - anything she will eat. 

Pups are - well beautiful and they will start becoming active by trying to walk and interacting with each other. It is coming - fun times!

Almost Two weeks Old

Now only one has squinty eyes and the rest are now eyes open. They are getting more curious now. they are also moving around a lot more.

Two Updates Today: Eyes Open and Nails

First gal - darker brown gal opened her eyes. See the gallery. 

We also cut their nails. Check out the videos of the nail cutting too. 

A new world is about to begin. No one else has their eyes open yet.

When we cut the nails it was hot in this room - too hot - pups were fussing and they were hungry but we got it done and then they fed in quiet.

11 Days Old

The pups are trying to get up on their legs. The motivation is mom. She has tried to feed them while sitting up. What a hoot.

Pups are doing well. They feel plump now. They are also quite active when you hold them. In 4 days they will be 2 weeks old - wow. Nathan loves the way the last born snuggles with you when you hold her. I can't wait till they can see me.
