3 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

Here are the videos, as usual.

All the pups are gaining well. Sage's bottom milk stations are not as hard. Yesterday, I went to express milk and it sprayed in my face she was so impacted but good that it was flowing. Just a bit much for pups. She is not like that today. You can express (which is good as not is a real case of mastitis) but it doesn't shoot across the room. Poor gal. She never complains and she never sleeps really well. I guess its only day 3 but as I type, she is solidly asleep. It's time. Cat naps here and there makes one exhausted and I don't want her like that.

It will be interesting if that one is chocolate. Colours do not matter but I am always interested in what a line throws.

All 11 pups are well wonderful. I love holding them and i count myself lucky to be able to.

Puppy Check Vaccines & Microchips

Due to holidays it is slated for December 27th at noon. It puts us a few days over 8 weeks but I am just glad to have the date now. Most vets are closed during that time. Yikes...

2 Days Old Plus

Do you notice how plump the pups are? Well, they are now gaining over an ounce in 24 hours with one at 7/8oz where the 1st 24 hours they barely gained. That's normal. They either barely gain or lose that 1st 24 hours but we are very in top of it to make sure the gains occur. We place them on and make sure moms have a LOT of meals so they can produce milk. We - well me also spend a lot of time giving massages and snuggles as I truly believe a happy mom is a positive for the pups and besides, I love them. They do a lot of work in caring for them. If they didn't love it, we wouldn't breed them. Never had an unhappy mom but do hear of them. Here we make sure they get all the attention in the world and that's why you see them smiling. I smile when I see them smile.

Here is the gallery.

Sage is on antibiotics till her back milk stations loosen up. I figure a couple of days as they already are seeing a change. She also has so much milk now and that's why you see the pups getting plump. The 2 bottom stations, they barely have to close their mouth and the milk flows. At 1st they didn't want to eat out of those 2 but are. Dennis was unable to get a pup to use the 2 he announced this morning but I sat down at 7am and had no issue. I told him I would show him at 10pm how I accomplished it.

Here are the videos. They are always here when I get to them. I try to get them up throughout the day.

Interesting

Everyone has gained tonight nicely. We are making progress on getting some to eat on mom's bottom milkstations.

Interesting to see is how colour is unfolding. The one that looks all black is a tri-colour. He will have eyebrows. You can see the shadow already. The one that looks black and white is truly sable and white. The other one that looks black may be a chocolate. He  has brown pads. The 1st born is a tri. We will see how it continues to unfold.

Full Day Old

Here is the gallery.

Sage pups were weighed. All are gaining minimally, which is norm. Her back stations they do not want to eat on as they are too full so I have to manually express a bit to relieve her and insist they feed on those milk stations. They are opinionated so I had to keep insisting as we do not want to put her on antibiotics due to mastitis. They did feed and those pups that did will gain rapidly as there is so much milk on those stations. That's the issue. They never want to feed on milk that gets expressed in abundance. I get that. We will keep at it and it will be fine as we caught it early nit when fully impacted. Good news - lots of milk so gaining quicker will occur.

Videos are up.

Sage got a much needed comb out and her hair placed back up so they had access. Blankets were changed in both whelping boxes.

Pups are lively and plump. Sage is so proud but the way she keeps on checking on Mistys, I think she wants hers too. LOL

Morning: Will Be This Morn

Isn't there a song - all night long and she has not slept a wink either but she peed in her whelping box enough that I had to change it out. I am sure it was pushing as its not like her. She insists on wrecking the couch. Poor thing. She needs this done - me too. Stay tuned. At least Nathan and Dennis got sleep.

She is pushing now so I assume this morning.

Temps

98.8 - so could be the wee hours. I hate this... as you do not know. Wish dogs could say - it's time mom.
