Yikes Hot Day

Once again we need to remind everyone NOT to leave your dog in the car in this heat even with the windows cracked.

Two people are facing charges as they did just that.

I am sure they didn't intend to hurt their loved one although I don't know the details but it happens fast.

Your dog needs to feel cool just like you do.

As Fiona is pregnant, I will pay very close attention when it is hot and get her inside. But we pay attention to all.

The issue is a closed car heats up VERY fast.

You are better off leaving them home alone in a safe cool environment if you must go shopping. That is unless you live in the Beaches and everyone shops with their dogs.

Tomorrow we find out how much a replacement liner will cost us for the pool.

Logan and Panda comes, Scruffy on Thursday and the younger grandkids on Saturday and Nathan is at a seminar all weekend long. The next weekend we are at our oldest daughter's bat mitzvah - an expensive rite of passage but an amazing one with all the studying. I have 2 lenses for her, a camera case and 2 weeks of teaching her to use her camera when she visits in August. I am excited for her special weekend and having a granddaughter who loves photography and appears to be creative. She also loves the dawgs. How lucky to have the pups exposed to the grandkids when they are walking about!

Darlah: I'm so glad you gave everyone a reminder. I saw the young couple on the news this AM and they appeared heart-broken. Their puppy was a chocolate lab and they left him in the car on Sat for 2 hours while shopping at a mall. Apparently, people tried to help, but it's unfortunate something couldn't be done in time. I'm sure they loved their dog and didn't want to leave him alone at home. Odd how people think dogs/puppies can be left in the car, but wouldn't leave their child!

It will be HOT today! Hope you get your liner in soon as I'm sure you and the dawgs miss the pool.

Maybe Sunday or Monday we will get to swim. It's always something but we started losing water 3 inches a night. It was ridiculous. I guess 13 years isn't so bad for a liner and I have a new design to look at. Daughter from North Carolina is coming in (the groomer) with our 2 grandkids on Saturday and was expecting to swim. Maybe by Monday it may be warm enough to or they can swim in cold on Sunday if everything goes to plan. I am hopeful but know in this trade delays can happen. Just hope we get a swim in before they leave. I do hope my opting for no border looks good.

RE; the couple I figure they are just clueless but it was hot. I mean I sat in our pool with 4 feet of water to cool off and that was ridiculous so it was too hot for anything in a car. They really should have known this.

Good luck w/ the liner! Hope it goes in for your daughter and grands to enjoy!

Did you see another woman just got caught leaving her dog in the car today? Luckily, her dog is OK and she got slapped w/ a fine. (I think it was $250.00, but can't quite recall.) The news actually taped her saying she didn't know it was wrong. Doug and I can't figure out why some people think dogs can tolerate heat that humans can't. Re the 1st young couple - I actually wonder if they forgot they brought their dog in the car. I remember hearing of a woman that actually forgot she left her child in the car while she shopped. She meant to dash in and out and got side-tracked. Some strange people out there!

It was such a horrible story to hear....but a good reminder to everyone that we need to be diligent in preventing dehydration and overheating in our dogs especially with this warm weather.

On our way home from Ajax on Saturday, Roger stopped in to get his licence renewed while Scruffs and I waited in the car. It was just 15mins, but I could see him starting to pant near the end, even with the sunroof and windows open and it wasn't even that warm on Saturday. It clearly doesn't take much.

That was just too sad, that poor pup being left in the car after being at Woofstock. Really what were they thinking... It just made me so sad all day thinking of what that poor pup went through.
