Remember Fun

Will we get snow this year? Here we are getting the last minute times in the pools thinking about snow. We haven't even booked a closing.

Are we being hopeful or what?

Daddy was out pulling up weeds, bagging items and letting me sleep on the couch. I don't get it but I am tired and seem to need an extra hour or two sleeping so we feed the dogs, play with them and while they are napping I am trying yo get an extra nap in.

Kat's starting to go silly stupid as Treasure must be starting to go out or is in her prime. Truffie is a happy, happy boy. I think I will take Kat swimming just so he gets focused on other things.

We are off for a dinner get together in Oakville at Nathan's brother's new house so I thought I best get the updates in - Fionas - Abigails and this one. Treasures won't start till after an ultrasound at 30 days from now. Fiona's pups will be in their forever homes already and I will be missing them.

Why does time go by too fast?

Empty Nesters

It's a quiet house. I had a marathon of bathing and grooming today, visitors that came to swim and more grooming and bathing.

But its just our crew tonight and life is QUIET. I like the fun, quick pace but I also like recuperating.

I just want to get swimming in before it turns cold.

Roxie loved that we had guests here and was jumping in every chance she could get but only from the stair.

I loved that we got to see humans and canines that we haven't seen for sometime.

Tomorrow Miss Abs goes on a dinner outing with us as I won't leave her alone now. We are eating out at Nathan's brothers new house with other family guests. Dennis gets to hold down the fort, so to speak.

Changing Times

Tia goes home tomorrow.

As I am typing she is playing with Roxie just like this.

Who else is playing? Scruffy.

They created their own game and it is a riot. They all seem to be vying for Roxie's attention as if she is either the target or the one to follow. Still watching to figure which one it is.

Paula called me to ask me to read the mating dates for Teaser and Truffie as Teaser has dropped and is acting like its in the next day or so. I am a nut when it comes to tracking such stuff. She goes in for an xray tomorrow. I am excited about these pups as they are Truffie's first. Stay tuned for the news.

Then we get to see Abigail and Truffie's pups less than 2 weeks now hopefully in-between Nathan's shows. Otherwise photos won't be as usual as I will be hands on. You will just see the after delivery ones.

Truffie is a busy and lucky boy. He has now connected with Treasure a number of times. We will get a pregnancy this time just like we had when Wasabi didn't get pregnant that one time, the next time she did allowing connections earlier not just later. This is day 6 for Treasure. She's connected on day 4 on. Usually we wait till around day 9 but you can miss the window doing so as we found out. Treasure rather loves Truffie allowing him 2 connection just this morning alone. What can I say, they are all cougers. hahahahaha

Wasabi is truly enjoying her retirement and I am glad. But she still adores her Kat. Him not so much as he can tell she smells different. What can I say? Boys....

For those asking, no Spice is not in heat but it happens when it happens. I am hoping she waits for a bit. Then we take a break and do the shows. I may even teach Nathan how to groom thoroughly. He will need to learn before Sudbury.

So, busy times coming up and all I can say it BEST snow cause there is nothing like winter puppies playing in snow.

Oh My What a Cutie

Didn't get to take a lot of Socks photos as mom came to get him early so I had to send her away as I was not done. :-0

But here he is minutes before mom came back. He cleans up rather well.

I am playing catch-up with my own crew and poor Lynda has food poisoning so no class tonight. The duo will be taken care of by us so she can recover. I heard its pretty bad. As someone who has had this - not a fun experience at all. Poor lady and here's wishing she gets well as that experience is not fun.

Sparky also had a bath and as his parents are not here yet, I managed to get a few of him. Their plane keeps getting later and later so here's hoping Sparky stays clean as he is that kind of a guy. He can't help himself but be a play monkey and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As Nathan has their car and is supposed to pick them up at the airport and the time keeps changing we are also missing class. I am not up to it besides. I have a stomach ache - not sure why. It happens.

Back From the Vet

Risa simply has an irritation from possibly scratching herself. No crystals, not even a UTI but we have antibiotics in case it had its mind in turning into an infection.

That's a relief and a long drive and bill to find out but always better to have peace of mind.

She's no longer bleeding.

Gee these old gals worry you silly.

The rest of the crew is playing and the Sparky and Socks goes home tomorrow. Poor Lynda we are taking care of Logan and Panda as Lynda is VERY very sick after her holidays. Hoping she feels better soon. She will need to with the university newbies she will have to deal with starting soon. :-)

Today

If I have to go on that bleepin awful food I will die and that human mom will have to diet too cause I can't do this alone.

We think Risa has a urinary tract infection. It's her first one. We are familiar with them due to our goldens. How can you tell? They have blood in their urine.

Usually if it is caused by crystals they are put on special food to avoid removing them. It worked for Terra but she hated the food and lost a lot of weight. Risa and I can stand to lose weight but not this way. Terra's never had another case.

Nathan has to bring her to the vets tomorrow to see.

No update and we are still playing recovery. I am soo tired from the show.

No Time

We had a very full day. I couldn't get photos of the afternoon as Nathan had the camera.

I came home early after Panda won and got her 2 points.

I had to get Tiger Lily washed and heading home. I also had to groom everyone else. So, photos and updates are short in coming today.

I will update you with a photo of Nathan and Panda and Brie's coat change but not till later. I am feverishly working on photos for the show.

Early Day

We start early. We feed, we play, I brushed out half the dogs, the rest later when I return from the show.

We had a play session outside with the pups and they were wonderful. I will try to get the rest of the dogs playing with them later. This morning it was Ringo, Brie, Simba and well we tried Colby. He sniffed but for the most part he ignored.

The Bold BoyTrying to get a few photos up before I have to wash Panda for the show. For those of you that do not think a full sized dog can get through that tunnel, watch Ringo. Abigail was in it the other day but no camera. Roxie too. But Ringo takes the cake. He scampers through it in such a way that you laugh and laugh and he does it over and over. I will try to take a video after the show. Until them I am feverishly trying to get a gallery together of just a few playing. with the pups and later I will put another up on the puppy blog.

I am so far behind due to doing show photos for the club. More detail on those as no one wants a bad looking photo of a show dog. Me, I prefer to show it all but not everyone feels that way.

Panda only got reserve winners bitch today as a bank of dogs spooked her as she was entering the ring. She has to learn to deal with such craziness so we call this conditioming. We ended the show having fun with her. This is all good! We are proud of her!

Out of Time

We are out of time. I will try to do better tomorrow. With updating photos for the show on their site, I am out of time.Yes, I am doing photos for them too - oy!

We also had a nice visit with Jane, her 2 boys and Colby and Brie. It was too hot so she should have brought her suit but maybe next time.

Just know we are having a great time. Everyone got puppy time again and we have had some really wonderful play.

As I said, tomorrow I will try to do better but we have a show again so late updates, I am afraid.

Panda's First Show

Panda got Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite today.

She performed rather well for her very first show. She won't be showing tomorrow as the judge teaches our handling class. So Nathan will be at the show all day helping out and I will be at home.

After getting her face in the greasy BBQ stuf that Dennis was cleaning yesterday, it was a miracle I got her clean at all.

Today we are going to take photos outside as Scruffy and Ringo are here. Tiger Lilly is coming soon. So look for those later today.

Today's Class

Panda or Roxie will not be going to class tonight.

Panda is in a show on Thursday and she would be too tired as she would have to be washed after class. I mulled it over, talked to the handler teacher and we all agreed that it would be a lot for me but detrimental to Panda to have her show sluggish so time off just this week.

We will play catch-up and teach on our own for the week. Panda really seems to enjoy the handling class.

As I haven't gone to handling classes lately it was a pleasure to see how much Panda has progressed.

She even was excited to go to class and happy to see all the other dogs.

The judge made fun of Nathan talking to the dogs in a cute manner but that's because she owns a power breed and you can't talk to them like that. But we laughed and Panda performs better than way so I say go for it.

Why is it okay for a woman to talk to a dog in a cute manner and not a man in the ring? It's not for some and for some it is.

It tells me you have to know who you are showing to. So many opinions on ring ettiquette.

It reminds me of Fiona scatting in the ring. People laughed and laughed but this one judge was mad and wanted her to be serious. So, Nathan accomodated him but Fiona was not happy. Havanese are supposed to be playful, folks!

Early Morning Snuggles

Danielle gets up around 7am and watches tv and snuggles with the dogs. Here she is snuggling with one of her fave, Sparky. I think he is a sensitive soul and realizes Danielle needs extra loving.

Tonight I am off to meet Nathan at handling class with Panda. He's been at an all day Pet First Aid Class with Lori.

The weather was just right to have the dogs outside. It wasn't too cold. It wasn't too hot.

I got everyone groomed and even Logan stood in line and said my turn.

It makes me feel good as I have to be doing something right by them for the lineup.

Time to feed the crew the head out to class. The day went by too fast. I suppose it does when one is very busy.

Scruffs & the Toilet Roll

So this is a cute story that I had to tell you about.  As you know, I am nocturnal and now so is the Scruffster. (Oops, my bad!) Roger has to find unique ways to get us both out of bed at 7am on those few unfortunate mornings that I start work early.  Neither of us is cooperative, of course, and we vehemently protest every time!

This morning, however, Roger came up with an ingenious idea.  Now, I will give you both some of the credit because it was yesterday's conversation that likely planted the seed.  He said, "Scruffy if you get up there is a treat waiting for you in the bathroom."  Unable to resist, I said, "Really? What did u do?" He said, "Go and see." Well, curious as a cat, I jumped out of bed and ran to see what it was.  I was so excited when I saw it, I said, "Scruffy, Scruffy, Scruffy!  Come see the treat Poppa left you."  Of course, Scruffs gets all excited at the word treat and also jumps out of bed to come collect.  He ran straight to the empty toilet paper roll in the middle of the floor and snatched it up like a puppy in a pet food store.  Mission accomplished right? But guess where he took it? Right back to bed! Hehehe, smart boy! He takes after his Momma Bear :)

Bathing Socks

Socks is getting a bath in a few minutes and he can be a wild child but a lovable one. hahahaha

He goes home soon so best get the bath ready.

He's a fun guy and a joy to have around.

Kat & the Kids

It's not often enough that we get Steven over with his 3 that happened to be Kat's kids. It's rather nice day as we had puppy people over and then Steven and May with the 3 Kat kids came over for their first time swimming.

Steven and May do not swim as many humans don't so it was an extra treat for us and for them to see what they could do in the pool.

I have many more photos and so does Steven and May but here is just a highlight as I have puppy photos to do first.

I want you to know that all 3 of their dogs swim really, really well. It was a treat to see them, click them, eat good food and have great company and yum on the chocolates and the dogs I am sure will say yum on the dog treats.

We don't do this often enough but we really enjoyed the afternoon. It can't get better than this sharing the puppies and then also seeing Kat's puppies swim. This is Raylan in Nathan's arms.

Bonus Roxie jumped in the pool and I only got the going to leap and the in the pool shot and not the between and I think Steven got the same. It was the only time she jumped in. Got to try to get her jumping in like Kat so we have more  opportunities.

Before Steven and May left we put Raylan and Monty in with the pups. I didn't get photos of that but Steven promised to share his with us. They were WONDERFUL with the pups. Mac still thought they were martians so he watched. Can't wait to see those photos.

Here is the highlight of them swimming with more to come tomorrow along with that one shot of Roxie jumping in. I hope Steven got a better one than I did.

No Great Photos

Tell Nathan to take photos and this is what I get. Well, you get the idea, I hope.

I was too busy today doing puppy baths, grooming everyone and we have the grandkids here.

That's my excuse but the dogs are still managing fun without me. Hey they have Nathan and Dennis and me when it comes time to groom.

My laundry room sink backed up so Logan and Panda didn't have a bath but bending in a tub I can't do yet.

Grooming I can...

Steven and May and their dawgs are coming over after the puppy visit and I think I have to do takeout cause Nathan says that's my job and well I still have a house to clean so nice... I am so bad I am not sure if I promised lunch or not.

Well, off to clean. Looking forward to their visit despite 'my jobs' not getting done.

I'm Here: Scruffy

All I can say is Scruffy came in as if to say, I am here and never stopped. I think he tuckered Sparky and Tia out in a big way.

Delilah & Kat Puppy

Meet Smudge. This is a Kat and Delilah puppy. Delilah is Abigail's sister who lives in Nova Scotia.

Deb (Delilah's owner) was looking for a black and white or silver and white gal she could show and this is the only black and white from this litter and so far so good.

I know I am biased but she is rather cute. It makes sense as Kat makes beautiful pups with Abigail so why not with her sister. She even has the name I originally had for Panda. :-) Deb didn't know about that either. How interesting.

Sparky had a bath today and it was hard to get a photo of him perfect. What is perfect anyways?

Each time I brushed his hair he shook or rolled or - well IMPOSSIBLE.

Here are a few photos after his bath mostly so Mary doesn't miss him so. He feels silky as ever but the perfect photo - well almost....heh

They are in the midst of letting him grow out.

Now Cody goes home so it will soon be time for his bath.
