Click on Photo for Larger ViewThe pups are turning 2 days old. Mom is eating well. Bowels are good and she is so attentive but she still thinks Jeannie's pups belong to her - so funny!
As you know we have some small ones but although we had initial losses in weight and one refusing to eat till she had 2 solid bowel movements, they are all eating now and slowly gaining. Even with these blips they were all very active as you can see on the videos. Nothing like a lethargic puppy to make your heart sink but that's not this crew.
Pups are doing really well. I call this the stage of being on top of things always. You weigh 3 times a day. You assess their needs. You help them along if needed and that includes making sure they are all latched on and eating 24/7. Small pups always need you to be extra attentive.
Pups also need to rest between so they can stop expelling so much energy. This allows them to gain. These pups are sleeping between.
Here is today's gallery.
Coats are shiny. Their bowel movements are really healthy - sorry but it is one way of understanding their health. They are active and they eat now with noise - smacking their lips. It's a riot.
They are simply beautiful.
They are doing so well that even Ms. did not want to eat till she emptied her tummy gal finds her way through the others to find a nipple. I am pleased! She's a special one and the smallest but she now went from skinny to having what I call the feel of body weight.
Be sure to watch the videos.
We have had small pups before - its been awhile. It does not mean they will be tiny when they get older.
I am so pleased with their vigor and beauty. Leti - such a grand mom with amazing pups. I just weighed the smallest just now and she gained again.
