Hello World

I held the pup with the white blaze on his nose bridge to top of head up to the window so he could look out. Sometimes when you do this they are frozen in place. This puppy looked back and forth in a curious fashion. I was impressed. No shaking. Just hmm interesting. I will try it with the other 2 later today.

Poor Leti wants Panda's pups every time they make a noise but she is starting to relax.

Here is today's gallery. They are really getting better at this walking stuff.

15 Days Old

Now that Panda's pups are born, we look huge to the human here but in reality we are not. In 2 weeks they do grow a great deal. Aren't they the handsomest things?

They are practicing walking every day. By week 3 they will be more sure footed.

Choco has his eyes open but most times he says I don't think so. The other 2 have eyes wide open when they are awake. This is all normal. I try not to make it too bright in here while their eyes adjust to the light.

Here's a gallery

I am impressed at how well they are doing practicing walking plus they are enjoying me hold them - bonus.

Two Weeks Old: Eyes Open

Eyes are opened or opening. Choco has eyes barely opening but they are opening. He's the last. Here is the order of their seeing the world debut.

First born, first open.

2nd born, second open

3rd born, trying to open - almost there. You can see the eyes. By the end of the day they will be.

In this case it happened in order of birth but that is rare. It has nothing to do with birth order when it comes to eyes opening.

What has happened though is they are practicing walking so they are now on overdrive to changes. Here is the gallery. A few videos show them practicing walking.

Funny how all their tongues are out. Haven't seen them till now.

13 Days Old

Can you believe they are 13 days old now? Check out the gallery.

This boy pictured above is the smallest one at birth and remains the smallest. The pups are all over 1 pound now. So far this one is the calmest of the crew. He is receptive to on your backs, cuddles etc. He seems to adapt easily. Things could change but it tells me its his nature without environmental influences.

We shall see how it all plays out.

Pups are eating well. They are NOISY eaters. I swear they are slurping when that milk lets down. They are so funny already.

As you can see this boy already has his nose pigment.

12 Days Old

Snoozing faces - how wonderful. Aren't they simply beautiful? Nothing like sleeping pups to have that ahhh moment.

Two of them are now over 1 pound and 1 is edging up to that 1 pound mark. The first tri was the smallest when born and remains the smallest.

They are now actively trying to get up on their feet but still the eyes remain closed. Usually they open and then practice walking. Not them. They are going to practice before they can see.

On another front, tummies are in good shape, They are gaining and Momma Leti is also eating without being hand fed all the time. We praise her like crazy when she eats on her own. We are getting there. Of course she still needs all the good stuff added in.

11 Days Old

It's 11 days and I am starting to be a character. We roll, we try to get up on the legs but it's still too early but hey we try. Momma Leti coddles and fawns over us as if we are the most precious beings that ever existed. Good one, Leti!

Here is today's gallery.

Nail Clipping 10 Days Old

Oh Leti, you are so wonderful with your babies. Glad eventually you are letting them sleep. You need sleep too. New momma syndrome. Can't let yourself get burnt out.

Puppies got their first nail clipping today. You will see the photos in the gallery.

Now all pups have slits - not open eyes yet. Usually when you see the beginning of slits they eyes open in 2 to 3 days. I will post photos as they open.

Nine Days

Can you believe they are 9 days old already? They really are trying to get up on their legs to push off. They are rather strong. They are still getting weighed 3 times a day but I think tomorrow we will drop down to twice a day.

Yesterday in the early evening Leti had hardly any milk as she was feeding them non stop. The pups will not gain unless they sleep. So, I thought maybe I will close the gate door so she could see the pups but not feed them. Well, she went absolutely nuts. She was trying to figure out how to scale the pen. She was whining. It was obvious she was not going to settle down till she could be in with them.

Pups were unsettled as they were gassy. Leti knew they were unsettled.

Whatever Leti eats, they eat through her. She had some broccoli which is a huge no no for moms feeding pups but not everyone realizes that here until now (no not Nathan - he knows). Leti also was very gassy. Well 1 pup refused to eat. The other 2 wanted to feed nonstop. This is how pups react to tummy aches. They either eat too much or not eat at all. Leti knew something was wrong. So, for her staying away from the babies was out. I gave the pup that refused to eat some fluid. I gave all 3 a dab of gripe water and today no more gas.

I don't even give my non moms broccoli as it creates gas.

Now the lesson of this story is place a do not feed list on your fridge. All of you can do that. It is good to know what will create an unsettled tummy and what is a complete no no. You 'can' feed broccoli but it creates gas and therefore creates an upset tummy. Some dogs eventually get used to it. Some do not. It doesn't matter if they are puppies or adults.

All is well. Pups are doing well.

See the roller coaster rides you go through with pups? Everyone learns. I know they are fine as Leti is now sleeping off and on all day and so are the pups. You can also see them sleeping on the gallery and videos taken today.

The only other blip we had today was I washed Leti as she was looking ragged and she was beside herself so I got her underside dry and the top of her was damp and placed her under the heat lamp in the puppy pen. She is now dry but you can hardly tell that I washed her.

8 Day Exercise

It's so funny but doesn't choco tri boy look like he is touching his toes?. You can see in the photos he has brown pads and you can also see he is a tri as he has those eyebrows coming out. So 3 tris. All different but all tris.

I can see small eye slits on the first born tri. It tells me he will have his eyes open first, perhaps in several days. His 2 brothers do not have eye slits yet.

The crew is now 8 days old. Here is today's gallery.

1 Week Old

One week old and I think it's 2 against one - crusher hug they say? Here's the gallery. As you can see now the black and white has tan under his tail and tan on his face. He is indeed a tri. The brown is  chocolate. He has brown pads. So 2 tris and a chocolate. Now let's see what 1 week has accomplished. They doubled their weight and then some. They are rarely making a sound.

Leti eats well then wants to be hand fed. She's a riot. She adores the babies. I catch her staring adoringly at them. Wait till they open their eyes. Perhaps that will happen in week 2. Life will change and the videos will get more exciting.

Here's the videos.
