Chasing the Year Out

If it was up to Leo and Rebel, they would chase 2020 out of here! They are having a total blast and as I type, they are both napping with Nathan. After eating, Leo will have his full groom and depart tonight. Tomorrow is my day off.

Here is the gallery.

Harlow has decided she's not a fan of the mush - Brewer too. Rebel and Leo - well let's roll in that stuff - oh wet - soaked - who cares/ It was raining earlier and back doing the same but good news is the temp will fall by New Year's day. For now, rain and rain. Wading my way through the backyard seeing I am doing more and more of that with Nathan not up to par is easier as someone dropped off rubber boots for me. Deep appreciation. I think the dogs and I are not meant for cold wet feet. LOL I kept saying - hmm this is what the dogs must feel like - saturated feet.

Missing the pups - truly I am... New Year's photos?

I organized today instead of relaxing as I had 2 more cancellations put off till the new year and I surely get that. I am NOT washing my dogs either. Weather will get snow hard again. dogs will stay clean and I will wash then too. LOL It just makes way too much sense.

If you need something from Home Depot - 2 days later you may be able to do curbside. Just love covid - not!

Now to feed the dogs and then wash and groom Leo.

Two Blog Day

Long story but didn't get to bed till 3am and then up again at 4. Think I had a total of 3 hours sleep and a full day grooming but we got it done.

Here is the blog.

The backyard is filled with ice then it warmed up and it was wet and then ice again. All in one day.

We had a fun house with Ellie, Ollie, Ollie (yes 2 Ollies), Leo, Harlow and Chester.

We had a heck of a lot of playing going on.

Not sure what we are going to do for New Years eve. Nathan never stays up pass 930 these days but I am trying to push for a Lonestar moment with Blue magaritas. LOL Yes curbside pickup. I have to end this bleepin of a year on a celebatory theme. 2021 has to be better and it means 4 to 5 months till swim time. I like that! Nathan will be a whole new man if surgery goes well. He may drive me crazy for 2 months but worth it to get him whole.

I think I am going to do a bit of learning and then lay on the couch with the dogs. Tomorrow is a full day of grooming and then time off. Got to do my dogs but need rain to stay away!

What are you doing for New Year's eve?

Happy New Year Photos

Keep the photos coming. It doesn't have to be new years themed.

Hi Darlah and Nathan!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas!  Logan is growing nicely and he is a handsome boy!  He and Tanner are good friends now, Tanner has finally  accepted him as his younger brother ๐Ÿ˜†!  Logan has been our positive  highlight this 2020!  It has been a blessing having him in our home!  He makes us laugh, keeps us entertained and he is a great companion!  We love him so much!

Wishing you a 2021 filled with good health, love and peace!

Mush

We had the pleasure of Dorothy and her 2 with a much distance visit. It is so good to see people we genuinely love. Thank you for the cookies and candy and the sauce. I went to go try one and Dennis had eaten everything but the sauce. I am so laughing.

I have hardly any photos as I am afraid I am tired of my feet getting wet and I do not have boots that sit higher than the ankles.

I had a number of cancellations due to this weather and I get it. I would cancel too. Tomorrow is extra busy and we will see if cancellations continue. I know I don't want to wash my dogs as they go out and well it would feel as if I did it for nothing. LOL

Thursday is New Year's eve and my day off. So, I only have the next 2 days till after the New Year.

Chester and Ollie could care less about getting soaked. It seems Rebel is the same way.

Rebel went to the far reaches of the yard and every time Nathan called her she went further and under the brush as if to say talk to the paw. Nathan was not doing so hot with what he thought would be an easy venture which became more so. He came in and said sorry you will have to get her. I put my ankle boots on - its a river out there and put on my coat. I went to get a treat figuring I could coax her that way. She was up on the deck and gleefully came in. No treat for her but she eventually came to the beat of her own drum. She was soaked too. I have combed out Rebel, Ollie and Chester more times than you want to know but they are having fun.

It's almost the new year. Can you believe?

Overcast but Colder

Ollie is visiting is. It's a quiet Sunday.

Here is the gallery.

Dennis' motto is it will melt. LOL

Each day Rebel and Spirit takes a nap with Nathan. He usually brings the visitors but Ollie declined. He was having too much fun, I suppose. He also loves Rebel. He departs Tuesday and Ollie puppy comes on Tuesday along with Ellie. There will be 2 Ollie's in the house!

As soon as I am done the blog, I am going to set aside an hour to learn.

Dogs are having fun. No snowballs today - hooray!

Dennis and I were trying to figure out where Rebel's personlity is from. I am learning to love this personality as she makes you laugh. At first I went oh my not another crazy dawg but she's not. She is just full of beans in a fun way.

As I am typing, I am yawning. Maybe a nap is better than learning? I did get a 20 minute nap draped in dogs. Tomorrow is a busy one!

2 Updates Today

Well, it is Boxing Day. Some I hear are out shopping - curbside. We didn't even look - not even on Amazon.

Instead it's a day of snowballs sticking on dogs. Let me give you the real skinny on this. It only happens when it is wet snow. It never happens when it is powdery snow. It happens on dogs with long and almost shaved down dogs - seriously. If anything sometimes it is worse on short hair as it holds the snowballs up against the skin.

Interesting thing to note, if you laid in the snow and dragged and rolled in it, you not only would be soaked but you would also get snow stuck to your hair so don't do it. LOL

You can use a slicker to get rid of it. DO NOT USE IT NORMALLY as it breaks coat without coating and snowballs are coating. Breaking coat creates MATS.

Spraying that slicker with grooming spray makes it slippery and will minimize any damage to it. If you use the tub rinse version of getting rid of them be aware you MUST comb out and either a warm towel fresh out of the dryer and exchange it for another works for them to lay on and soak up most of the moisture. You can also blow dry them. Better yet if you can find a FULL legged 4 legged snow suit, well only the feet will get wet and snowballed.

You can also pray that it gets colder as cold snow ices up and well that doesn't stick to their coats.

Am I frustrating you? I have dogs that love running through the snow and poor Rebel had snowballs too. Yes, she has short hair and its thin as a puppy's hair usually is. That is okay. She survived but she was lifting her paws. That is a sign they must come indoors. Be sure to check between the pads for snowballs.

It's a lovely day out. I want to take a nap but Nathan is. Ollie has arrived till Monday. Watching videos of him that Rochelle sent - well he adores the snow. We are going to have fun with him!

Bailey has departed and she had the time of her life. I do think this covid has restricted the dog's social needs and I worry when they are suddenly thrown into socializing overdrive. I am glad that some come as they will have that edge of interacting before we are done. Now that dog stores are closed, they don't even have that. :-( We are also told that many dog training places are also closed.

We are still open for visits. The dogs once they get reacquainted again are showing signs of being at Dog Disneyland. I guess they are feeling it too.

Happy Boxing Day

Hi Nathan and Darlah

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Coco Chanel came to her forever home. She has brought so much joy to our home during a year that has been very different with the pandemic. We love her to the moon and back.

I thought I would share a picture of her with her Christmas present Hope all is well with you and wishing you all the best in the New Year take care and stay safe. -Debbie, Janet and Coco Chanel

Two Updates Today

Bailey is visiting. Coco departed. We had wet ground then snow. Dennis attempted to take photos last night in the dark. He is learning.

Here is the gallery.

Rebel made the transition to one of the big guys easy. She is also learning dog communication. No soreness today and she is a wild one! Ms Bailey just loves her. LOL Or is that Ms Rebel loves her?

What did we do today? Nathan napped long. Dennis and I moved 2 couches and a heavy ottomon. I am - well that was tough but the sofa is back in my office and the dogs love it. I promised Nathan a standing rib roast but we never got to get one so maybe for New Year's eve. No one stays up till midnight here - do you?

I combed everyone out and they got to be a sopping wet ball of something.

Lori and Roger came over to the door and shared Scruffy and Pepper with us. They gave us the softest blanket - than you. Dennis is coveting it! Wonderful to get kisses and craziness from Scruffy and Pepper. We heard from a number of you... that was great and truly special. Now on to Boxing day of only shopping online - is anyone looking, new restrictions and a New Year.

Now to learn - a promise to myself for next year. What is yours?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Chanukah, a Merry Christmas and here's to a New Year. 2020 - well almost over!

Christmas and New Year Cheer

Pablo is drumming up some Christmas cheer for everyone in the entire Takemaker Family!  He is such a pawsitive pup!  He knows 2021 will be a wonderful uplifting year for all of us!

Katie wishes everyone a happy holiday and a great new year!

He doesn't like that little scarf.

I tried again the Hallmark snowman with the dog and this time he replied to the fog. No running away today.

Last night, he did not sing to us, went in his den on his own.  He still gave us the wake-up call. The tail was wagging galore when it was time to joins us in bed.

He enjoyed his "walk" in his pouch and the after-walk which is to snooze on me in my bed. That dog will be sooo spoiled.

Every time a parcel arrived, I think it is his Dearmint bed.

He sure love those squeakers in the toys.

Have a nice evening

Jeannine, Pierre and Watson.

Watson sends kisses and hugs.

From the Talemaker Crew - hugs and kisses to you little boy Watson! Glad your family loves you so!

Blog Day

We have holiday photos below. I hope you so enjoy.

Nathan called twice to the surgeon and cardiologist. No call back. We try again tomorrow. We are now going to go local and call 911. That's our plan and we are sticking to it.

Gallery No one is groomed yet in these photos.

Let's sum up the day today. We made calls. Nathan rested. It was mighty cold outside. We put blankets away, beds all cleaned - laundry all done. Couch is staying out of here till we figure it out. The dogs LOVED having this room to hang out in too. They can't when pups are here.

Rebel is adjusting well. Momma loves her. Tempie thinks she is her coveted toy and Sage wants nothing to do with her. She will adjust. We believe in letting it all unfold as it works that way.

Nathan is saying always have the gas filled. This is where this is - or that. His brain is working too much.

Rosey arrived and settled right in.

Tried to get food and it was around the building at the grocery store. Oh that again?

We are thankful for the dogs that are coming. This is the 2nd busiest season that we are quiet. This covid is killing all business' except grocery stores, Amazon and who else?

Maybe I will get learning in after my to do list and catch up on tv. Expanse is on again...

I so hope you all have your shopping done. Zoom plans in place. Good food to cook. 2021 - here we come. Enjoy this week. Do not stress out. It's not about the gifts but family, good friends, wonderful puppy people and the havanese!

What a Day

The pups are now gone. The xpen in my room is down. Rebel is dealing with being one of the crew.

Here is a small gallery.

Today was a scary day for us and now that the pups have departed, I can tell you about it.

Nathan went to Brunos and to get shawarma and as he was in getting food, sweat started pouring off of him and his chest hurt. He didn't have his nitro with him. I didn't think to ask. He didn't finish. He came home and said nitro upstairs and I frantically looked for it with what felt like minutes but doubt it was that. He is supposed to have it on him. But this is new to him and to me, I suppose. He was white as a ghost. I said emerg. He said no then after the 3rd dose 5 minutes apart he said perhaps. I got my coat on. Threw the coat at him and he says its starting to work. I realized at that moment 911 should have been called. Driving to Mississauga aint happening. It is too far.

So we will call tomorrow and get a plan in place which is probably call 911. Then we had the last puppy go and thankfully he had enough time to recover. Then he laid down. He is mostly back to his new norm.

So on top of all the pups departing we had Nathan and well Nathan is not supposed to be stressed. How can you not be stressed when your cardiologist says we do not know if they will delay surgeries again and he is progressing. It is obvious he was. Today was scary for him and for me.

To top it off, Sage is in a bad mood and I get that. That too shall pass. Cinnamon gets it and Spirit still has her baby. Maybe Sage and Cinnamon will all mother Rebel. This is Cinnamon's last litter. Within days they will realize how easy their life got. Yes - missed but easier.

You do not want to know how many loads of laundry we have. Dennis - his way of coping is to clean, clean, clean. I get to do what he throws in the laundryroom. He likes to do all the houses, beds etc so they can be stored clean. I was just not planning on it being today.

By the way, Miss Rebel is making Nathan smile.

Tomorrow is a new day... So happy to hear about the journeys of the pups. All seem to be doing well. Nice - indeed!

Cold Day in Paradise

It's a cold day in dog paradise. This is a short blog. Despite the cold, we still manage to get out and enjoy. We just go out a lot more for shorter spurts of time.

Here is a small gallery.

Not everyone was out for this photoshoot of Dennis but some instead looked at us and went its warm here - no thanks. LOL

Early Blog Today

Murphy says really - it is cold don't you know? She is a riot. It is good to have her back but she is not impressed at how cold it is. Can you blame her? I am not either.

Here is the gallery.

The dogs are enjoying. We even had a couple of them running but mostly they wanted into the warm blankets. I put them in the dryer and they love to snuggle in.

I am glad we didn't get the huge storm they predicted. It would have made it hard on the puppy people to come. I can't imagine how that would have felt realizing too much snow to come.

Tonight after the last pup departs and I finish the blog from the last, we are all going to settle in and watch tv. I haven't watched for eons. Nathan having to be docile has almost watched too much but without my company. He gets Monday off. That means he gets to sleep in. I do not get a day off till Thursday due to my grooming schedule. Thursday I may sleep in too. Wednesday Dennis is off. It has been forever since we had days off and it's a treat more than you can imagine. I used to go out with Sherry to classes etc but thank you covid we can't plus now she is into sewing and I am into... whatever.

Restrictions have just been extended and according to the news Monday brings more restrictions for those of us in grey areas. So - good that the pups get home before that.

We were going to have Bailey visit and now that won't happen. Usually we are full of dogs boarding but now too of our largest seasons - poof. May next March Break be better. It has been a long ride for us and for many. But the dogs - they get you by. Keep focused on the positives and we will come out the other side. Will we ever go back to physically shopping or wil online be the new norm? the dogs don't care. We are home more.

Chanukah has concluded, Christmas is about to begin. The New Year is upon us. may 2021 be leaps ahead of 2020. LOL

Oh That Tenshi Gal

It was a very cold day out and it seems it will be like that all week.

Here is the gallery.

We missed the huge snowfall but the cold settled in and the dogs are not fans of it.

Tenshi goes home tomorrow after she gets a bath and grooming. Three pups depart. Three get washed and photos taken. It is a busy day throughout the weekend.

8 more days till the Santa for many then New Years - Nathan's operation and well tackling that to do list.

I miss people, celebrations and all that...
