5 Weeks 4 Days Old

Pups are good on the floors now except when they are freshly washed and too slippery but even then they are learning and strengthening up their legs.

They now seem to be in the same timeframe on development. You can't tell a difference now.

I started them on Fromm's kibble today softened. They were not interested yet. That's normal.

Here are the videos.

5 Weeks 3 Days Old

Yes, we had a great night upstairs but here is a gallery of them upstairs and in the hall that you won't find on Youtube. Here is a link to my youtube channel. This way you can see the videos as I upload them and not wait. How about that? Should have thought about it sooner. Sure helps me time wise.

Pups are using the pad more time than not with a few accidents. They are pretty good considering their age.

If you notice upstairs they are hardly slipping now. They are walking quite nicely on the floors. Some are even running and jumping. Five more days and you get to see them. 4 more days and they have their first bath.

5 Weeks 2 Days Old

Pups really are enjoying their competence these days. They are getting good on those legs of theirs. Some even jump and climb. They are eating well but still feeding from moms.

Due to a time factor, and the reality that some of you are already viewing the videos on my YouTube channel, I am going to put up a link so you can just view all the videos there. It will cut down on my time updating the blogs. Here is a link to my channel to view the videos

Tonight we are hopefully going to put them upstairs but it is dependent on Dennis getting the area ready.

I am celebrating as it also means Dennis will get up during the day and I no longer have to try to keep the house quiet - which is impossible, by the way but I so try.

5 Weeks 1 Day Old

Getting older. Getting more sure footed. We now have floor space in our xpen. We are getting better at navigating. Here is a gallery from our Hall play.

We have so many teeth now but we are indeed teething. We have wet eyes during this time but that will go away after the teeth stop erupting.

Here are the videos: (Though they already have views so I am not sure if I have to post the videos. Maybe just upload them and you can view on Youtube?

It's a riot watching the pups these days. Watch the cream boy run and jump over Nathan's leg in this video. What a riot!

Nathan was able to join us this afternoon and enjoy the pups. We had to wait till Dennis got up or it would have had to be just me like yesterday.

One more week and you get top enjoy them too!

4 Weeks 6 Days Old

We had a hallway visit. It was the first. Here is the video.  It was just me (Darlah) and the pups. Nathan was napping and I didn't want them to miss their time exposed to something new. Dennis was hanging with the dogs. It's been an extremely busy day for me. Tomorrow is the same so short blogs it is.

How did they do? You will see!

4 Weeks and 5 Days Old

Here she is cuddling with Cat in the Hat. Pups are doing better and better at using the pad. I apologize but I took a few videos of them using the pad so you can see. If that bothers you, I apologize. I just wanted you to be proud.

The pups are sleeping for longer. This will bode them well when they go upstairs without moms. We figure they may be able to do this by Saturday or Sunday. That's 3 to 4 days, yikes! Dennis will finally be able to be in bed at night.

Here is the gallery from theit kitchen and pen today.

First Kitchen Play Time

It was a busy household today but I persisted and said we are doing a kitchen visit. They will only last 5 minute so you do have time for that, Nathan. So off we went to the kitchen and they lasted longer than 15 minutes. Wow!

Here is the video.

How did they do? Just watch. I was pleased at them trying to maneuver on the tile as well. Bravo little ones. We will start doing this daily.

Here is the gallery.

See who explored and watch the tails wagging.

Here is the gallery of the day - non kitchen.

Loved having the experience and despite the lack of time I believe Nathan did too!

4 Weeks and 3 Days Old

This little one is getting her nails done. Here is the video. Plus here is the gallery. They first ate solids and then they had their nails done.

Here is a gallery taken today.

As they are older we had to wait a few days before they tried solids but there is no hard and fast rule about when they try solids. Due to their digestion system developing you like to wait till 4 weeks but if we had pups that were not gaining due to insufficient milk coming in on mom we would try earlier. Later is not an issue as long as weight gain is still there. You do want them standing, if possible. Usually a lack of weight gain is an indicator they need solids. They were not at this point. It's just time to get them to be a bit independent. Tomorrow we will have a play session out of their xpen.  We do things spread out to help them get conditioned positively to changes.

How did they do? Everyone did really well. Everyone ate in both litters. Some just ate more than others and some went back for more without any prompting after waking up.

As growth occurs, their ability to hold more food allows them to sleep longer. From the moment theu go upstairs without their moms they start the process of sleeping longer till they are sleeping in till 7am before they depart.

4 Weeks 2 Days Old

Oh my gad the puppies LOVE this ball. I had to go get a few more waterproof pads at Babys R Us (Toys R Us) and I found this ball. Nathan didn't think they would like it but they do in a big way.

Here is today's gallery.

You see the pups are teething and a couple of Jeannies actually have teeth poking through. So their eyes are watery and they are chewing like crazy. This too shall pass.

Tomorrow we will try food and this may help Momma Jeannie from saying ouch!

The pups were dewormed today. More about that on Adele's blog.
