4 Weeks 1 Day Old

The pups have really decided that they all for the most part want to be at the end of the xpen where the moms and humans are. It looks like they like being in the hub of activity.

I now often see an Adele pup playing with a Jeannie pup. They are not keeping to themselves. At times when you merge 2 litters they do and it takes a few days to fully interact with each other. This crew just merged immediately. 

They are also starting to walk pretty well. Come Monday I think we will be trying them on food and water.

4 Weeks Old

Exciting times as all 8 pups are together now. Jeannie's is the ones that are always gravitating over to Adele's side and making overtures to play.

Now I am not sure how I am going to handle all 8 being together blog wise that is. I suppose I can put videos on one blog and the gallery on the other and rotate back and forth. I am still trying to figure it out.

But for now the 8 are together. We are still trying to perfect the setup. Each day I fold all the blankets that I leave in here so I can quickly change out anything that may need to be changed out as the pups are still learning. Each day I refold the blankets and redo the couch as Dennis well he is Dennis. He's so good at other stuff but I keep trying to get him to take blankets out so you don't have to refold. It's a work in progress.

They are using the pads quite a bit now but they are babies. I adapt to the needs of the pups in order to get them to be using the pads exclusively till they start going outside. Then we acquaint them with outside.

Can you believe they are 4 weeks old? Two more weeks and you get to see them!

One Day Short of 4 Weeks

The is sibling cuddles and love - ahhhh

I have to tell you that these two are wonderful but the two creams are something else. I lay down in their pen and the cream gal comes walking fast to me and then the cream boy does the same. Each are on both sides of my face giving me kisses. They keep putting their little tongues on my face and I melt. They get extra excited to see me. The other 2 look and engage with me if I introduce play but these two make you feel like you are the most special human in the world. I am sure the other 2 will but for now the creams are sort of amazing with making you feel special.

They have started to play for a longer period after feeding. I also notice that instead of their tails going down they are now straight up in the air at times. Soon that means they will curl over. Their ears have also went from airplane ears to falling down now. 

This gal is fascinated by my camera. I think she is trying to figure out what I am doing.

Two more days and they will be 4 weeks old. Wow. Still, we are going to wait to introduce food till Adele's are 4 weeks. This way we can do all 8 together. At that time it is likely we will take the divider out in the pen. They are now starting to get sturdier on their legs. The floor is still too slippery for them.

The pups eat, sleep and get a little help. Come this Monday we will try them all together and we will have the first taste of food. We will see how it all unfolds. 

Each day I remove blankets, clean the floors and then set everything up again. When they start going upstairs then Dennis does it.

I have taken the odd puppy out to look through the window and attempt to walk on the floor but they are still swimming. When they are not we give them more floor space. It's not time yet. 

We are finding back feeding is allowing pups to gain a bit more. Jeannie prefers side feeding.

Our weight gain has slowed down as we are expelling energy trying to walk. That is quite normal. We are still gaining just minimally. The next time we will have a big push on weight is when we start eating food. Adele pups are almost or the same as us now.

We have adapted to all this space. We all have our fave sleep spots and that can change when the human rearranges and takes old blankets out to wash and add new blankets in.

23 Days Old: Video With Sound Added

We are in new surroundings outside of our whelping box. This gal looks like she is saying, let me out! But they are all mighty comfie with their new surroundings. How can you tell? They spread out, look around and then go to sleep. This worked with this crew immediately.

Why now?

Well it seems one climbed out twice last night. It was time to give them space. 

Oh and we have a genius in the crew. Here's the video to prove it. She found the pad herself. 

How are moms dealing? Quite happily!

This crew is 3 weeks older so you get to see them interacting more. Soon you will not be able to tell the difference in age.

3 Weeks 1 Day Old

This is pure excitement. I am outside of the whelping box and this girl thinks I shoot the moon. Look at that smile! Talk about making my day. They are indeed getting more interactive with us.

I can't believe the pups are now over 3 weeks old. In a week or so we will try them on food. They go into overdrive from 3 plus weeks and you start seeing changes more frequently. If you look at some of the videos you can see them starting to play with each other.

Pups do not like it too hot in this room. We had people visiting and taking my usual precautions, I closed the door and the heat increased. What happens when it gets hot? They fuss. It got to over 80f in here. When it got down to 76f they were quiet and went to sleep.

3 Weeks Old

We are interacting more and more each day. Can you believe we are 3 weeks old now? One more week and we will try food. This will be the fast week. We will start to really perfect our walking.

We now eat, sleep and play a little. We like to snuggle with each other or with the toys. By Monday we will probably be out of our whelping box. Our mom is eating a ton now as she is feeding us hungry hippos. We now make noises when we see canine mom and the human here. It's quite nice!

These beauties are 1 day shy of 3 weeks and are starting to interact with the toys and each other. Here is a video of them eating and after that I took with the video camera. It has sound.

Pups are getting more active and fun to watch. They are actually getting up on their legs to walk. I just love these pups. They are a riot. They love tummy rubs, as you know but they are massive snugglers. 

They now are minus railings so they will have more room to explore now. When they attempt climb outs we will take the whelping box out completely.
