Next step will be when pups start trying to climb out they will lose their whelping box. Interesting enough they are not trying where Adele's are and their eyes aren't open. Jeannie's pups are content beings. Rub my tummy and all is right in the world. Jeannie LOVES her belly rubbed and so do her pups. It is an interesting trait she has passed on.

Here is today's gallery.

I had a puppy I was holding in the recliner and Jeannie had to be on the chair kissing it all up. She loves her pups so.

They sleep so soundly then they twitch and move and dream. It's amazing if you take a video and speed it up what you see. Here is today's gallery.

Going for a short update tonight. Want to try to relax.

This is called creative feeding. Can you see the one that crawled on top and is feeding upside down? It arrived there on its own. Where there is a will there is a way! Here is today's gallery.

Pups have to fit eating in whatever way they can.

Here are today's videos. The ones with Sarah are endearing.

16 Days Old

Well here is 3 of them. Where is the 4th? He is under the railing. Why do they go under the rails? Remember they do this BEFORE their eyes are open too. They usually use it as a way to get away from the heat and to be up against a wall as comfort. Now if they bunch up and cry they are cold. They can also bunch up for comfort. It's only when you have crying as a part of the equation that you have to start checking the temps of the room and whelping area.

By 3 weeks their bodies are able to self regulate. They can't before this age. So they use railings, bodies etc to stay cool or warm. It's amazing that they do this without their eyes open.

This crew can also hear now. Ears and eyes open up in a similar timeframe. They now react to noises.

Here is today's gallery.

The ears are now starting to point out as they will eventually flop down. I call this the helicopter stage. It's a cute one.

I really, really like the heads on these pups. I am highly drawn to the beige gal. Her face is pretty and her head shape is wonderful. Can't wait till they are playing.

All the eyes are now open. They are animated when they see you. Eyes and ears open about the same time. Until now they relied on touch and smell. It's an interesting process. Here is today's gallery.

It's funny when they eat now it is a battle for the best spot and to even fit. When they start standing up I can see Jeannie sitting or standing to allow them to feed. Instead I am maneuvering them to get enough room. It all works.

Pups are starting to strengthen their legs but they do like sleep.

Two Weeks Old

Two more now have their eyes open. We are just waiting for the cream male to decide it is time. My bets are on late tonight or tomorrow. Here is today's gallery and it includes the eyes open photos.

When the eyes open within a few days they become more active and interact with each other. I also start adding toys then. Life is about to change.

Last Night Eyes Open

Can you guess which one opened their eyes last night? It's the girl. Did you guess this girl as the first? Here is a gallery of her.

Sorry I am so late updating. I had a bath and trim to do, puppies to feed and a daughter to play catch up with. Plus paperwork for pups going home - Trouble and Amy.

We did cut nails today. Here is the video from that. I usually do a gallery but thought this was easier. Nathan didn't think they needed to be done but I thought so as their nails were getting caught in the blankets.

Here is a gallery from today.

Can you believe tomorrow they are 2 weeks old? They are starting to try to get up on their legs for a minute or two at a time. They always get more animated when eyes start opening up. Still only 1 with eyes open but another has squinty eyes. It's a game around here as to who they will see first. It's usually me but I miss it at times.

The Jeannie pups are now where the Saffron pups were and we are down to 2 xpens. It's nice. Jeannie has adjusted though she was wondering what we were doing at first.

12 Days Old

Ahhh aren't they beautiful? I think so. All the pups are now over 1 pound. They all seem to be uniform in size. No one is showing any signs of open eyes. I do notice that they navigate pretty well.

Tonight the Jeannie pups are going to move to the xpen where the Saffron duo was. The xpen where Jeannie pups are now will come down and the daughter loses my recliner in her bedroom. That's okay. I think they would enjoy sitting in here without an xpen in front of them. Me too. It's been a long rode with Judy's pups etc with 3 pens. I look forward to 2.

Here is the gallery.

The pups are getting quite receptive now to snuggles and touch. It's nice.

2 pups are now over 1lb and 2 are just under. Can you believe? They seem to have days with small gains and days with large gains. Here is today's gallery.

Now I sit and wait and watch to see if they will open their eyes. It's a waiting game. With the 2 litters being close to age, it is up for grabs as to who will have eyes open first.

I am spending a lot of time touching, holding and kissing them to get them used to human interaction. Jeannie enjoys this. She acts like a proud mom, which she is.
