3 Days Old Tonight

This is one of the gals. They will be 3 days old tonight. They are continuing to gain well. Even entering a full day 3, you can now see their body filling out.

Here is their gallery.

We had an issue last night with the heat lamp but I got one going this morning. Last night Dennis kept the door closed to keep it toasty in here. We have to figure out Spirits. The ones we have are from the states and are expensive. So, I had 2 without the metal around it and with just a clamp and it is working fine. We can use the other in Spirit's xpen. Dennis was concerned it may fall so I secured it all over the place to make that impossible. They need the heat lamp till their body can regulate on their own - about 3 weeks. Just a blip.

Sage still has loose bowels so I have to wash her and dry each time she goes. Today no washing. This usually lasts about a week. Hers seems to be resolving quickly.

She is so attentive despite getting out to eat or go do her duty and makes sure they are taken care of first.

I will be uploading videos shortly.

The pups are so great at finding their way to the milk bar.

2 Days Old

After this update, I will go to once a day and if there is any new news, I will add it to the existing blog and change the title so you know.

The pups are gaining.

Here are the weight gains in the last 24 hours.

Brown Brindle gained 1-3/8oz - weighs 8-2/8oz

Brown and Cream Dbl Mask gained 1-1/8oz weighs 7-5/8oz

Tri Colour gained 1oz weighs 7-2/8oz

Black and White 1-1/8oz weighs 7-6/8oz

As you can see in the videos they are lively, finding mom and I just added the weigh in video just now.

One and a Half Day Old

This is Sage before her comb out. I just finished it now.

Here is the gallery I took so far today.

She is a very happy gal. She likes starter mousse more than fresh chicken. Nathan is going to cook steak for her today.

All pups are over 7ounces but one who is slightly less than 7 ounces. That is #3. All have gained well and her milk is fully in now.

She is a very comfortable mom who has no issue leaving them to go outside to do her duty as long as Misty and Raven are not left in here. This is normal. They are in need to protect at this age. She doesn't do anything but take her body across the whelping box to block access but that also means no outside to do her duty. So, while Misty and Raven's pups are sleeping, the moms are out with the other dogs so Sage doesn't feel the need to block her whelping box or me to have to close her in. I think a new mom needs the freedom to feel relaxed. Raven and Misty's pups have their moms when they are awake so it all works.

I uploaded the videos this morning. I am so trying to juggle well. LOL You can see how Sage feels the freedom to eat, to go outside. Sage is LOVING this motherhood. She is smiling so much.

As you can see by the times on the videos (Raven and Misty's are an hour off - Sage accurate) that I am up frequently checking on them. I live on coffee. heh But I love the babies and I always check as you can see with the Raven and Misty videos as well.

Sage's pups are already getting bellies and as you see they are also quite mobile considering their age. They cry when the sunlight filters in from the window as they get too hot. I lower the blinds and they instantly stop but I do allow sunlight early on when not fussing as I believe the vitamin d is good for them. It is only when they get too hot they fuss.

3 More Hours: All Gained

3 more hours and they start turning a full day old. I added an upclose video for your pleasure. They really are adorable!

As you are looking at the photo from left to right you have the brown and cream gal, the brindle gal, the black and white or dark brown and white gal and the tri.

They are really doing well finding the feeding stations.

Sage This Morning

The pups are over 12 hours old now. They are doing really well as you will see in the videos I already uploaded.

We do have a change of colours. First is indeed a brown brindle, 2nd is a brown and white, 3rd is a tricolour and 4th I do believe it may be black and white but time will tell. The others I know. She had a nice array of colours if colours are your thing. I so appreciate personality as that is what you live with. :-)

Gallery is here.

I am adding videos as I do.

4th one was born at 815pm. It's a girl. I guess the girls rule. Until this one fully dries I can't tell if it is black and white or brown and white. She weighs 6.25oz 176g

Here is the gallery of the birth. I have 2 more blogs to complete and will be uploading the videos tonight.

She had an easy birth. They came fast. I have just been juggling as we had dogs departing, a grooming and all sorts of crazy things. We did not expect this today as she ate a ton of food and was very hungry after delivery so I got to do that too.

You will find the videos here when I upload them - soon.

Setting Up

It took us into the evening last night to figure out how to make room and get the 3 areas in here. I lost my table with my heatpress to the basement. A planter is now in the hall with lights till we can place it outdoors. Two storage Alex Drawer systems out in the hall. The hall table near the front door. The house is such a hodge podge but it will go back when it can. When? When we are down to 1 pen with Sage and Spirit's litter. Summer...

Nothing from Sage. Even though the vet said 21st on, I think maybe Sunday. Why Sunday - I don't know. LOL We will see how it goes. Will start taking temps tomorrow.
