Some Eyes Open

The gal with the mostly white is the one who decided I like squinty eyes. The 2 siblings have eyes wide open. Eyes open first or last is not an indicator of anything except a jumpstart on a visual sense. With the lone gal with squinty eyes, she is still seeing (slits open). She probably will have them open by tonight. Funny as she was the first squinty eyes and now she is the holdout.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewYes, she will now have the short lived name of Ms. Squinty Eyes. Funny as she so far seems to be teh best in manuevering on her legs.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewThe pups - all 3 had their first visit into the kitchen today. It's a very small window that we do this as they still need the heat lamp till about 21 days. This begins our exposure to different environments. This will expand to more rooms and longer timeframes as they get older.

Don't you just love the airplane ears? It takes a bit of time for them to grow and lay down. They are so cute at this age though - well I think so.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewThis gal had the most wriggle attitude as if to say what is this about. Of course all the adults were HIGHLY interested and Jeannie was VERY protective. That is normal. It's not till they are walking well that moms feel they are okay to socialize. They know they are vulnerable.

Here are some videos taken today.

Note Taking and Mom Play

Each time they are fed I verify their weights to make sure they are sufficiently. Sometimes they are at the same weight, sometimes a tad more. The mostly white gal still remains several ounces lighter but as you can see she is not a skinny thing.

Brushing Jeannie's Hair

Sonetimes I take the brush and brush Jeannie's hair when she is feeding. This might soud crazy but it seems to relax her. She almost falls asleep when I do it.

After Feeding

More After Feeding

Off to wash Cha Cha so she can go home.

Now when you spend as much time with the pups that I do, you fall hard. When they are active and mobile Nathan will start playing with them as well.

Two Weeks Old

Can you believe 2 weeks has passed. Here are some fun videos I took tonight to celebrate the 2 week old mark. Two have eyes wide open. Photos tomorrow. Need someone to hold after eating as that is when they are the widest open.

Pups are now feeding about every 2 to 2.5 hours. After the 11:15pm feeding I will rest snuggling with Jeannie on the couch till the next feeding and hoping I fall asleep fast. Everything I do is between feedings 24/7. :-) I have not had much sleep - an hour power nap all day.

Nathan is off on his fishing trip on Thursday till late Sunday. Last trip - ok - please...

Pups will be 2 weeks old tonight and the gal with the collar indeed has her eyes open. The boy wants to open his eyes. The mostly white one has squint eyes so it is happening. I won't get photos till tomorrow as Nathan is away and won't be back till late tonight. It is something to look forward to.

I am rather tired. This take a nap here and there makes you terminally tired but we do what we need to. :-)

Here's a few videos.

13 Days Old Tonight

Look at the larger sized photo. You can see the eyes wanting to open. Shall I say squinty eyes - do I really need to open them yet?

I am still doing night feedings and day feedings actually. I sleep between the 2 hour feedings or I do groomings, snuggles and play.

Tomorrwo Nathan is at a wedding with our son Jon and Dennis and I are here with the dogs. Maybe we will see eyes open tomorrow but hoping they wait for Nathan either before or after he returns.

We have a slew of videos for you to watch. I hope it gives you some moments to treasure.

The boy seems to have bigger slits today and the more white gal is not far behind. She is now 1lb. She was lagging behind the other 2.

Pups ate every 1.5 hours last night. I am exhausted. Jeannie had an upset tummy and refused to hardly eat and that affects milk production. I managed to get starter mousse into her, formula, cheese for calcium and now that its daylight the pups are making it almost 2 hours.

Here are some videos - lots for you to enjoy.

Jeannie had a bath just before she had pups. I will try to get her another between feedings next week. She is losing hair which is normal so I find it on the blankets after or during feeding etc. This too shall pass as her body adjusts.

She remains an amazing mom deeply in love with the pups and motherhood. When a gal has pups she gets placed in the pack as the queen of the crew. She is relishing that.

11 and a Half Days Old: Yoga Moves Added

Click on Photo for Larger ViewClick on Photo for Larger View

Be sure to check out yesterday's photos as it includes a gallery of the nails getting clipped. Pups are being stubborn about opening their eyes. I was on night duty and will be for at least a few days. I am getting sniffles. So, you will see some videos with my old lady jammies as that is all I can wear downstairs with a house of men.

How is it on night duty? They eat every 2 hours but on occasion they won't stop fussing they get fed 90 minutes. I had alarm clocks set. Jeannie slept on the couch with me as she would feed them nonstop and that doesn't work? Why? The aggressive ones leave nothing for the non assertive one. In this case the mostly white is non assertive. Is this an indicator of her personality - being laid back? It's too early to tell. We shall see how it unfolds. She now has her pigment in but due to the white face it looks funny till we have some growth. She is a beauty though. She's going to be striking. No unattractive pups here.

Here are a few videos.

I Want Food, Mom

Momma is so busy cleaning and as you can see she wants to eat but she is really laid back about it.

Puppy Noises

This is how they sound. I don't always have sound on as I have a tv going, people talking and more. I don't want to yell - be quiet - say nothing - I am doing a video. heh I don't like staging things.

The Boy Crying

The boy was fussing as he wants to eat and eat. He thinks he should eat an hour after feeding and leave nothing for the rest. He is the biggest and most assertive eater so far.

Jammies, Ipad and Pups

This is me in my jammies, clicking my ipad so you can see a video. Its how I do it.

Cleaning Bedding

Each morning even if it doesn't appear that it needs it, I change all the bedding. That includes the padding underneath. I truly believe that if a puppy gets used to clean right from the start they will appreciate clean. That means sometimes we are changing more often. Usually this happens as they get older and indeed after they start eating food. They should be eating food about the time Roxie's pups come or soon after.

More Clean Bedding

Just the Pups

Come this afternoon I will take some naps so I can deal with the night time. Now off as pups need to be fed.

Here's a couple of pups practicing yoga. heh

Up Tonight & Nails Plus Gallery

Click on Photos for Larger ViewLooks like its me sleeping and waking up every 2 hours as Dennis is not feeling well and pups can't fend for themselves. Besides we have some loose bowels as we are transitioning off the antibiotic. This is normal. Antibiotics was necessary for mom but give upset tummies to pups. They are all still gaining but someone has to make sure they are feeding every 2 hours. That is me.

Testing out alarm clocks. I will be sleeping on the couch next to them and listening, watching and making sure they feed. I will try to sleep between. We shall see how it goes.

Dennis wasn't getting much sleep with all the doorbell ringing so we shall see how I do. hahahaha

Click on Photos for Larger ViewClick on Photos for Larger ViewAs you can see the nails were done today and will be done weekly now or when they start getting caught in blankets - whichever is sooner.

Here is a gallery of the nails plus more.

10 and a Half Days Old

Click on Photo for Larger ViewClick on Photo for Larger View

Jeannie is such a great mom but as a first time mom she wants to feed the 24/7 so we try to give her timeouts. She gets groomed, a message, to eat etc. There is much to do with a new canine mom and for the human as well. I groom between feedings. For instance today we did out 8am feeding and then I washed Spice and then I did a 10am feeding and I brushed dogs out. Never mind the blogs. :-)

Here are a few videos taken today but I may be spoiling you as I don't usually do this daily. :-)

Jeannie Feeding and a Massage

I try to give her a massage a few times a day. It also allows me to see where they gave her Hickeys and rub in something that is safe for the pups but soothe her sore spots.
