13 Days Old: Eyes Opening

Here are the photos in the order they opened up today. They are immediately trying to walk and doing a half decent job at it too.  See the gallery today.  It's amazing how ready they are to get up and start moving. I have to laugh.

Roxie had a bath today. I did a lot of juggling between feedings.

They are now getting frantic when eating. You can see it in the help video.

12 Days Old

This is an interesting bunch. Their eyes are completely closed but yet they play with each other and are actively trying to climb and walk. Usually they do this after their eyes open but not this crew.

Anne Ko and her children got Roxie a present for mother's day. It really made her day. It's interesting how animated the moms can get when they get something for them. Thank you, truly!!

11 Days Old: Updated

One of the boys reached 1 pound today. None of the Spice pups have reached this milestone. These are the youngest and I do not see any signs of eyes opening yet. I am sure in a few days that will change. I am spending a lot of time touching toes, stroking bodies all to get them used to being handled.

Even with eyes closed they are playing with each other. What a riot!

Here is the gallery.

Pups are frantic when eating now - Spice's too. They are gaining so all is good but they want that milk when they want that milk. Here's a video to get you by

The girl is still the littlest but she gets to the milk bar and doesn't let go. Momma Rox remains attentive as do all of the moms. It's wonderful!

9 Days Old: Videos Added

Do you think we clash with Mr. Octopus? Mom is back to free feeding us during the day. We like it that way and it allows the human here to groom dogs. No one is on the same schedule so it's called no time to do anything.

Here is the gallery.

Pups are all gaining. They are funny. They now slide down off the bed when they are finished eating. They purposely do it. I have to catch it on video.

We have a lazy boy. I call him lazy as he likes to eat when he wants and forget about some schedule. So you can often see him by his lonesome feeding as good Mommy Roxie is accommodating. If she wasn't he would have to get with the program.

This is Roxie's Tri boy. He has red and apricot bleeding through.

Pups are eating well. They are telling mom when it is time to feed. The littlest gal is the same exact size as the Spice littlest gal and funny they are almost the same colour.

Got moms all brushed out as I do daily except yesterday was so busy I on;y got some grooming done. This too shall pass.

Here is the gallery

Looking forward to mobility by all - I think.

7 Days Old

Here is today's gallery. I promise better ones when all are mobile.

Can you believe the youngest are now 7 days old? I can't.

I have now started instituting the same schedule for these guys that Spice has. I timed Roxie and she is feeding them every 20 minutes. Although weight gain is fine, it could be better and mom really needs to relax between. This may help Dennis at night as he will have a window to snooze and wake up to an alarm or pups crying for mom. We shall see. Jeannie seems to be on an every 2 hour schedule and allows herself relax time. It is interesting that she says nope - let them sleep then does what is needed every 2 hours. Reality is Jeannie can clearly be on a 3 plus hour schedule now with their weight.

Moms will still get lots of cuddle, clean up time and time to sleep themselves. It's important as any mom knows that without sleep between you get burnt out or sick. Soon these gremlins will be walking around and moms will need all the energy they can get.

The gal does a good job at pushing the brothers out of the way for her seat at the milk bar. Bravo to her as the boys - well they want to hog all stations.

6 Days Old

Here is today's gallery. Can you believe they are edging up on 1 week old. Did that week go by like a blur for you? It did for me. Mother's Day will soon be here and I will dehydrate treats for the moms. I am not sure I can do anything special as it's pups and dogs for me but maybe in a couple of weeks. We shall see. I still want to get to the baby consignment shop but its not happening. heh

The pups are all gaining really well. The gal is still smaller than the boys but she is a feisty one gaining and pushing those brothers out of the way to get to her milk bar. A gal has to do what a gal has to do.

The moms are getting more relaxed as time goes on. It's nice to see. I give them massages daily, brush and comb them out and wash their bellies with a cool cloth. Out of all that I think they like the cool cloth the best!

Day 5

Here's today's Gallery. Oh boy it's taking me a long time to do all these blogs.

Pups are 5 days old today. They are gaining well. Mom is feeding them every chance she can. Roxie is doing an amazing job. She is attentive, loving and so proud.

Sarah helps me by helping the Rox feed when she is here so I am not running between pens. It's a comedy skit when I am by myself but it gets done.

Here are their weights:

Boy 1

Dark tail, dark face, pink nose - (eventually that will fill in with pigment)

Birth: 5oz Now: 9-4/8

Boy 2

Tri (going to be multiple colours)

Birth: 6-7/8 Now: 10-3/8

Boy 3

Cream Belly

Birth: 5-3/8 Now: 8-3/8

Boy 4

Dark mask below eyes, Left toe white tip

Birth: 6-5/8 Now: 10-2/8

Girl 5

Red/Brown Sable

Birth: 4-3/8 Now: 6-1/2

Boy 6

White blaze on chest

Birth: 6-5/8 Now: 10-3/8

As you can see they are doing well. My only complaint is I brush the girls out and the pups make them look messy minutes later.

Moms no longer had discharge so I am not having to clean them every time they go out to do their duties. Look forward to when I can bathe them. For now we maintain.

4 Days Old

Pups are all gaining. Roxie is feeding too frequently. I am contemplating on what I should do about it. They are growing at the rate of Spice's. I am constantly making sure all 6 are on and I timed it and it was every 45 minutes or so. They need to sleep for at least an hour and a half to a couple of hours at this stage. Here's a gallery to look at.

Her littlest one is now 6 ounces as of this morning. Spices littlest is 6.5 ounces. Roxie's started out larger than Spice's smallest. Factor in the age, they are on a similar track - which is a good one.

Telling the pups apart is interesting. I can but I really have to look. The black tri already has colour bleeding through. One of the boys has a blaze on his chest. Roxie remains ever so attentive. Want to give her a bath but it will have to wait. I also have to check with the vet on when Spice is able to have hers.
