Sorry Short Blog

You can read why there is a short blog on All About Dogs as they will be short all over. Puppies tonight will remain downstairs (just Roxie's) without mom all night. That means 10 till 7am. Moms will come to bed with me. I bet you I won't sleep. Stay tuned tomorrow to see how it goes. They will have food to get them by.

Here are a few videos to get you by.

Play Sessions: Videos Added

Pups are getting conditioned to play sessions in a variety of places now. This was our hallway. The pups had a great deal of fun. After their play session with the families they slept 4 hours - a record. Usually sleep is 3 hours. By the time they go home they will usually be sleeping from 1030 till 7am. It's a process. Here's a gallery.

A Visit

We had a visit as Martine is unable to come next week and she will be here on pickup. So, we made an exception. As she lives so far away, we wanted her to experience the pups too. We also had another family that wanted to see pups that came at the same time. So, I didn't get much footage and I apologize. The video is here.

The gallery will be on Adele's blog. I was able to click more than film. As we have Leti in full blown heat, the boys had to be put away, Leti was put in my office and well her heat will be over soon and guess what then Panda will come in, don't you know. hahaha

Well that's a bit off track. The pups have really perfected their play. They are getting better just like teh Adele pups are. By next week it will be a perfect time as they will not be as far apart in development as they are now. But still they did rather well. They are social and was not afraid with new people. But puppy visits are tiring and they sleep a long time after them. They are still sleeping as I type.

Rain and Busy

It's been one of THOSE days. Pups are doing wonderful. Dennis has been really pulling his weight with the pups as I have been doing dogs, grooming etc and feeling like I should be in bed.

Here is one video just so you have something from today.

Now What?

Really mom they aren't my kids but they are chowing down anyways. Care to help me with this or my babies won't have any food.

What a good mom. But you will see Adele in the video telling her pups its play time not eating time. Moms are supposed to correct them. It's how they learn but that intoxication of milk had all pups chowing down on both moms no matter how they handled it. That's norm. When they start to wean they get serious in telling them the milk bar is closed. It sounds like they are big bad moms as they correct by growling but that's how they tell them no. That day will come.

By 6 weeks they are chasing mom and its so bad that she can't play with them. They get excited when they are totally weaned as they can then simply play and teach. They are not there yet. They are not eating well enough to be especially the Roxie pups but they will get there.

Pups had a good time outside. Here is the link to the video and it is now live.

Outdoors Wow

You have to understand that we are 4 weeks TOMORROW and we are having experiences early. There is a HUGE difference between almost 4 weeks and 5 weeks. You saw it with the Adele pups how much they change. These pups are having even earlier exposures so we can merge the two.

Today we did experience a couple of Adele pups mauling the Rox pups but it wasn't bullying but more let's play like my siblings play with me stuff. The Rox pups are not there yet but will be in a week and by the time you see them they will be on a more level playing field, so to speak.

All the pups did amazing outdoors. They had Jesse on the outside of the pen. They had garden equipment noises next door. These were all good exposures. They had a crow cawing.

We thought of doing this last moment so we had to blow off cedar pieces off the deck. Dennis moved furniture and set up an xpen and well it was a - oh yeah its warm so lets do this when we had planned on taking them to the kitchen. We will try again tomorrow. I also had to wash all the blankets we had out there as the deck was damp. So that load is still drying. All the hidden things that are done each day.

The pups after outdoors is still sleeping. So far not a peep for almost an hour and a half. We will see how long they sleep after all that outdoor play.

Here is the outdoor video link. It is live now. I am also crawling into bed.

Here are the rest of the videos:

They are still slipping on the flooring but so did Adele's at this age. We are leaving the floor space to see if it ramps up their development in maneuvering the floor.

First Kitchen Visit

We had our first kitchen visit. Check out the gallery. You will have to see Adele's blog to see the video of the visit. Remember this crew is not yet 4 weeks. They will be 4 weeks in 2 days. This is early but we are trying to merge the 2 litters. We are on a time table of sorts. Each day they will be together in the kitchen. Dennis will have them together in another place and hopefully within the week they will all be eating and merged together. This will mean that maybe by the 11th they will be upstairs without moms at night. We shall see.

We will do this in stages. In 4 or 5 days we will merge them downstairs and see how it goes. If it goes well we attempt to have them upstairs a few days later.

Then bonus, after all this conditioning and exposures you get to see them on the 15th. On the 15th this litter will be 38 days old (5 weeks old) and Adele's litter will be 6 weeks old. We usually do 6 week old visits but I do believe the Roxie pups will be ready too.

Nathan is gone on holidays the next week after that with his friends to sunny Florida so we can't do it the next week (yeah where's my holiday) and then the week after we have the specialty. So, it looks like the next visit after this one will most likely be the 5th or the 6th. We will figure it out. Then soon after that they go home. Wow.

Yes they did well eating considering how young they are. Let's see how their bowels survive.

How Old Are You Now?

My brain is functioning at half mast. I am dizzy. I am sweating. I guess I am sick so bare with me.

The pups from the nose to the base of the tail is 8.5 inches and 10 inches. Looks like a huge difference but it isn't and that is when they are stretched out. One.5 inch makes a huge difference in appearance at this size. They are still small but Adele pups aren't huge either despite them gaining like gang busters. They just slow down when they start walking and that is exactly what this crew is doing these days. Each day there is a difference on how long they play for and how long they sleep.

I have spent a lot of time with them as I am seeing if anyone needs a bit of extra help getting exposed. So far so good.

They are truly playing these days and it is so true that there is a huge dxifference in the 3 to 4 week span.

Comparisons

I know you look at colour but I look at body length and structure etc. Personality is the most important to me. As you can see we have one longer than the other. Check out the gallery to see how the others compare.

I have been exceedingly busy today and I am a grouch as I haven't had enough sleep. Usually I can run in half tank so to speak but it's a chore today and I had a lot to do. Isn't that always the way? So, I will just plug in some videos. Pups are really doing well. I am so pleased at how they have ramped up perfecting their skills.

3 Weeks and a Day

I am starting to see more apricot mixed in with the black and brown in the coats. I am also seeing the eyebrows more prominently on the black and white tri. They are starting to truly walk, play more, stay awake more and even look and get to the pad to go. Roxie coddles over them always. I see changes daily at this point and it makes sense as that one growth spurt in body, ability etc is between 3 and 4 weeks. They really do perfect their skills quickly during this stage.
