Kai's 1st Class

Nathan kept forgetting to sign Kai up for class so we entered on the 2nd week. They allowed it as we have dome it so much that really playing catch up is not a concern. Plus it's all about conditioning her to be around dogs of all energy and size.

This was the first time she had a collar and lead on. With this cold weather walks are not doable but she has been to Global transported in a sherpa bag. 

When we found a collar we actually found saffron's so she was wearing her mom's collar and lead. Think it's time to check off one of those Scavenger items and have her go to the store to get a collar and lead. Maybe a stranger will give her a treat and we can click off two things.

We have 7 in class counting us. They don't have to concentrate on us as we know what to do. But she met many dogs, little and big. She greeted each. She was not crazy about the collar and lead and showed that with her tail down and then she adjusted. Okay, if I put up with this collar and lead and stay in one place, I get a treat. If I walk next to daddy, I get a treat. If I finish next to daddy I get a treat. How good is that?

Next week is come. Kai knows come really well already but we shall see how she does it in class next Thursday. I also found the 6pm class is nicer than the 7 as we can actually get home and not be rushing to bed. I like that!

Kai's Transition Another Day

Kai is getting adjusted to the big dogs. She runs outside with the rest of the crew as if she always did it. She also didn't sleep in her sherpa bag on the bed but instead just on the bed with everyone else. 

Saffron has stopped looking for her babies other than the momentary stop at the door to where the pups sleep at night. She is really enjoying Kai. Wait till she sees Margo again. 

If the dogs bark when someone bangs on the door she runs for the crate. I imagine that will go too when she clues in that the bigger dogs are just being silly. She's getting her daily combouts and getting a small treat. Otherwise she's not concerned about much. She's eating well and playing her hearts out. Deep down I think she thinks she's bigger than she is. hahahaha

Kai's Transition

Life has changed for this little one. She slept on our bed in her Sherpa bag. She wasn't relaxed out of the sherpa bag as a couple of visitors wanted Nathan's neck too. She did really well sleeping through the night. 

Since her last sister departed she has been out with the big guys. She is adjusting to not having an xpen. She runs out with the others and plays her heart out then falls asleep on Nathan's lap. He's hogging her as he will be gone next week. He wants to make sure she doesn't become all mine with his holiday. It has happened before. He goes away and the dog is forever mine. I don't set out to do that. It just happens. 

I am hoping she remains a Daddy's girl for him. 

We heard from the sisters and both are doing well. 

Saffron looked for her babies last night and today. She knew Kai was with her but it was as if she said where are the rest and she watched them depart. I think she is starting to adjust. A few more days and she will figure they are gone and Kai will remain.

Bria's New Family

Last night the crew played upstairs in the hall for a last time - well last time till Margo comes back for a visit. kai will like that as she seems to be in a funk. Here is the gallery from upstairs. You will get to see the fabulous couch Sherry bought for them.

Come the 17th Margo comes back for a few days and I bet Kai and Safi will be delighted. Nathan will be in Florida so I get them to myself in bed. :-) It's going to be fun!

Margo's New Family

Well the first gal is gone. Saffron is aware but doing okay. We will miss this one but she will be back next weekend, I believe and I am soooooo excited. Nathan is away in Florida with his guy friends and I get the sisters together with me in bed. Now how fun will that be? Nathan may get sun and time off but the pusp will be all mine. hahahahaha

Bria Bath

How did she do? She was great. Curious on what was going on. A bit nervous about the dryers blowing both ways but good. Bria departs tomorrow. Oh my gad I am going to miss this crew.

Kai also had a bath but I won't put up her photos till after the 2 sisters are gone to allow them to shine.

We will not have an outdoor video today nor a play session in the hall. It's too cold and too busy. We will just have a gallery in a separate entry of the girls playing when Margo departs.

Margo Bath and Weight

Well, we had our last bath before departure and she was amazing. I am going to miss this gal. Oh my gad is she a ball of fun.

The weights taken today was:

Margo 3.2lb

Bria 3.8

Kai 3.8

They have grown in 2 weeks. 1 whole pound!

Relationships

Why do we introduce the dogs to the adults slowly at this age? We have to see how the adult interacts with the adult and we do this 1 at a time till we know. At times the adults think the pups are gremlins or irritants and you have to act accordingly. It is very important for them to have positive interactions. That doesn't mean that a dog won't growl saying no you can't feed off of me, or no I am not interested in play at this time. This is actually an important learning phase so they can learn to read other dogs and not only know what they are saying but to learn to respect what they are saying.

Today they had a great deal of fun and soon will be going upstairs to run up and down the halls before bed.

Tomorrow afternoon Saffron gets her bath and so does. Margo as she is the first to depart.

Getting Brave

Climb here or there and just run their fool heads off is the usual daily. They are having a complete blast. Three more days and we will be down to 2 and then 4 more days we will be down to just Kai. 

You can truly see how they are getting better and better at everything!

The pups have really been spending a lot of time getting better and better at play, running and just having some pure real fun. You will see it in the videos. They are a wonderful trio! Hope we get to see them after they depart. Sure going to miss them!

Last Week With the Trio

Here is today's indoor play as it was raining today.

The first one to go is the chocolate sable called Talemaker's Margaux Bordeaux. I will certainly miss the fun with this one in a huge way. That also means a bath on Thursday or maybe Friday morning. We shall see. Next one goes on Saturday and then Saturday night Kai comes to bed with us.

Safi and the Girls: 9 Weeks Old

Short blogs today. Just too tired to type straight - honest. Here is today's gallery.

Pups have been out a couple of times. They will soon go out again with Dennis. I may seek a nap.

Pups are truly wonderful. Monday I start the paperwork and the bags to get them ready to depart.

Safi Gals Almost 9 Weeks

Wow did they get older fast. They are such a fun crew. They are going up and sometimes downstairs. They are adventurous and they love enticing the adults to play.

They are upstairs playing with Dennis before bed. they actually play for a solid 2 hours and then they go to sleep. 

I got my treats order on the way. they were out of a few things that I like. It should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday. On Monday I do paperwork and get bags ready. That is my day off from grooming. Got to laugh. 

This crew is so delicious. I do so hope they visit. I will really miss them!

Indoor Play Today

Upstairs, downstairs but inside. It's been raining all day. The human has been grooming like crazy. The pups found my grooming jacket pocket. oh oh

I am still uploading videos. We are getting as many done as we can. It's gets quieter come Monday or Wednesday. Tuesday is crazy. hahahaha

Pups always manage to have a blast. Dennis is upstairs with them as I type. 

Such Fun!

Just love that Rusty got to play with the pups. Logan too though Logan wanted to play too rough so we curtailed his play midstream. That happens a great deal as some of the adults do not realize they have to dumb down their play to play with the little ones. In a week they will be ready for more physical play. We will keep trying.

The pups are now upstairs having a total blast. Dennis plays with them so well. I can't believe I am doing blogs and an hour from now it is bed time.

By the way I found a guy in Keswick that will build sturdy pine stairs stained in whatever colour you want. We have to have a couple of ours replaced so if you are interested, let me know. They are great for the dogs to get up or down off the bed. He can do them in any design.

He built a table for us for the tv room that has 3 openings for the dogs with a floor and I am going to put some toys and beds in it and see how they enjoy it.  Can't wait to see what Kai will think of it in a couple of weeks.

We now have names. Bria is first born, Kai is 2nd born and Margaux is 3rd born.

Pups are playing like crazy and at times I can catch them mid air jumping at or with something or other. They are wonderful to capture and watch! 

8 Weeks 3 Days Old

The pups are really having a blast in this cold weather and it feels cold.

The pups just love the play with the bigger dogs but not all play nice yet. You see they can be too physical - some adults at times so we do not want to introduce fear so we are really careful. We test and then we allow. 

We have a name for 1st born - Talemaker's Allegro Con Brio - call name Bria

We are waiting for 3rd borns name. In 10 days number 3 departs and #1 goes the next day.

I just ordered the treats to add to their bags. I will be getting the bags ready with food, shampoo, conditioner, treats, a toy etc

Remember a sherpa or sherpa like bag in large will bring them comfort. 

In 11 days Kai will go out in general population. She will most likely sleep on the bed up against nathan as he wouldn't have it any other way. Soon... 

8 Weeks and 2 Days Old Plus Possible Names

Before the rain hit we got out to do a huge play session. It was cold. Nathan was in a winter hat. I still had my sandals on as I hate shoes. What did I realize yet again in this play session?

Tenshi loves her canine mom Saffron and Saffron loves her. Saffron loves her pups. I love Saffron and she has been an amazing mom. I watch her play and and her loving nature and I take pause. She warms my heart!

8 Weeks and a Day

It will be interesting to see how much this trio weighs when they go home. They played with new people today. they have been inside, outside with play. They had a full day and just 2 minutes ago Dennis is taking them upstairs to play in the halls. They are excited.

I will say I love the structure on this crew. They are agile, fun and they will be missed. I am so glad we are keeping one for Safi, for us to continue the line and if she doesn't work out as she remains too small I may shoot myself. 

Safi has turned out to be one of those super moms. I am proud of her!

8 Week Visit: Video Link Added

Sorry, we are running late today. Had visitors tonight for Adele pups, Tracy, Dani and Kevin so I am so far behind. Here is the unedited reupload of the visit. I am reuploading.  But here is the gallery. It says 39 minutes on the reupload - sorry!

Puppies are great. They had fun. Dennis is taking them out again in a few minutes. 

I always have fun watching. This all happened fast. How do the weeks go by like this - fast for me - I am sure slow for their new families.

Back From Vets: 2 Updates Today

Not as many photos as I would have taken but I figure as tired as he was, you can hardly chastise him.

Weights

First born 2lb 14 oz

Second born 2lb 13 oz

Third born 2lb 8-1/2 oz

They are all healthy and fecal is clear but we knew it would be.

They are now in their last stretch. Two more weeks and home. 

No cries in the car or out. No accidents in the crate. They slept in the car most of the way.

We hope no one is sore from the shots and microchips for tomorrow's visit. Looks like it will be indoors as it is supposed to rain. Too bad as outdoors is a great experience with the pups. 

How did 8 weeks go by so fast? Pups will start going home October 10th.
